Chapter 3 - No Privacy, Even In Rebirth

March 4th, 1248 KE

The first couple weeks were pretty exciting in my new life, but things do tend to get repetitive when you're a baby.

I would cry, sleep, drink, and yes, embarrassingly soil myself. But hey, I am a newborn—cut me some slack? Anyways I also learned there really was magic in this world! My father wasn't just making it up, I can become awakened on my 12th birthday and receive everything I've always wanted. The only problem you ask? I have to wait twelve whole years. Not just normal twelve years either, I have to live them as a child and most importantly some of them as a baby.

What's helping me now though is that my mother will show me her magic and teach me a little bit about this world. But first let's establish who my family is in it.

My family is the noble Baron House Thalore. We co-rule with a Ducal family, House Elowen, over a city named Sunrest, a city known for its environmental beauty and elegant architecture. My father, Baron Orion Thalore, used to be an adventurer with the guild but fell in love with my mother so he retired that chapter of his life. He is now the leader of the Sunrest city guard and trains new recruits. My mother, Baroness Valentine Thalore, used to be a high rank healer that worked at the guild to heal injured adventurers after quests, but one day after healing my father after a bad injury, he, in his words, 'Swooned her off her feet' and a couple years later they were married and just 2 years after their marriage they had me. And who am I? Young Lord Kade Thalore. I know it's lengthy but I can't do anything about it, this is what people other than my parents have called me so far but hopefully that won't last long.

"Kade? Where are you?" The voice of my mother? I must run. Get away before it's too late and she captures me.

"Ah ha, there you are hiding under my bed are you? Well, fun's over mister. I have to change your diaper". Dread crashes into me like a runaway truck. If there was one thing I hated most about my new life, it's this. Not being able to control my bowel movements frustrates me to no end.

I'm taken from my safe haven under my parents bed and taken to a changing table. She then takes off my diaper and cleans me. Obviously, I blush. I mean, who wouldn't? This is pure humiliation.

"Okay all done. It really feels like this embarrassed you but that can't be it you're just a baby!"

So she even knows and continues this torture… Laughing, she carries me to the library for our daily teachings.

This is definitely my favorite part of the day, I get to learn more about my new world and most importantly magic!

"Hmm what should I tell you about today? Oh I know, I haven't told you everything about your awakening day!"

Oh, more on this? Is it not just getting magic? Well learning about what will get me access to mana is very intriguing, continue mother!

"Okay so I've already told you that on your 12th birthday you gain access to mana. But it goes deeper than that. You not only are able to now get magic, you awaken your element—and there's more, like traits, but I'll save that for tomorrow". Wow, that seems like a lot of stuff to keep up with. Why is she telling this to a baby? Doesn't matter as long as I can learn more about this world.

"First, your element. The one you awaken will be completely random, nobody will know what it is. It could be a Low-Tier element, Mid-Tier element, or High-Tier element.

Low-Tier are fire, water, air, earth, and sand

Mid-Tier is lightning, sound, ice, metal, wood, poison, and crystal

High-Tier, these are the most advanced and powerful elements in the world, Space, Time, Gravity, Light, Shadow, and Magnetism

 Woah.

"Okay that should be enough for today!"

Huh? That's it? You can't just stop there! Not after telling me there's more to this system! Please mother keep me here longer! But it's no use, the cries of my mind are useless as she sees me as an upset baby and carries me to my bed for a nap thinking tiredness is the root of my frustrations.
