I lounged on the plush sofa in my suite, still half-dazed from the intensity of the kitchen encounter. My body hummed with leftover desire, even as concern for Kaelen and his pack members gnawed at me. The way he'd transformed from playful to Alpha in seconds still amazed me. One minute throwing cake batter, the next rushing to a crime scene.
My hands absently cradled my growing baby bump. "Well, little one, that's your dad—complicated as they come."
After cleaning up the mess from the food fight (and myself), I'd retreated to my suite, unsure what to do with the empty hours stretching before me. Kaelen had been clear: stay in the compound. No exceptions.
A soft knock interrupted my thoughts.
"Come in," I called, expecting maybe Lyra or one of Kaelen's staff.
A young maid poked her head in. "Miss Moon? There's a visitor for you downstairs."
I blinked in surprise. "A visitor? For me?"
"Yes, miss. A Mrs. Catherine Bennett. She says she's an old employer."
