Chapter 40 - Chapter 40 Maple

"You appear very humble, yet your actions carry an incomprehensible arrogance, even when facing Mother Earth Gaia." Hera's words made Mobius's expression solemn.

He had indeed underestimated the Gods of this world! He thought himself a transmigrator, and knowing some key events made him arrogant, but he should remember that events can change. Gods are not puppets on strings manipulated by a puppeteer; if the events are different, the Gods' reactions will be different, and subsequent matters will also undergo tremendous changes.

Mobius smiled and said, "Hera, Your Highness, are Source Gods not equal? Is my confidence not natural?"

"The order of the world is like you saying 'move forward' in front, and us following behind saying 'okay'." A five-pointed maple bloomed in his hand, its delicate appearance shining brightly. "We are all part of the world, aren't we?"

"Are Source Gods and Source Gods all equal in power? From the very root of the world?" A look of mockery appeared on Hera's noble face, and her golden crown seemed so ironic before Mobius...

"We only differ in divine power and divine duties; our identities and statuses are equal," Mobius explained calmly. As for what he truly thought inside, only Mobius himself knew...

Hera pointed to the flower crown on Mobius's forehead, "Lord Mobius, how naive you are. There has never been equality in this world. The flower crown on your head is something billions of Daimon and Nymph yearn for but cannot attain. They madly pursue even a single petal of the flower crown on your head, hoping to become Gods."

"Would you share your crown with them? Would you equally tell a Daimon to fulfill their divine duties? Would you share your divine power with them?" Hera spread her palm, her long and powerful hand open. "No, this is impossible. You are a noble Source God, and you would not give your divine power, or even... even a smile, to a lowly existence unrelated to you."

Hera's voice echoed through the sky, and the doors of the Marriage Temple opened, as Zeus, holding thunder, walked in.

He said with a smile, "Lord Mobius! Why is your exquisite little mouth, which mocked me in the Thunder Temple earlier, so silent now?"

"Lord Mobius, is it because you still retain that original naiveté? Do you still hold the same thoughts as when you were a Daimon?" Zeus stared at the five-pointed maple in Mobius's hand.

"There is no such thing as equality in the world. The so-called equal status among Source Gods is merely a restriction, a restriction to prevent powerful Gods from persecuting lesser Gods."

"Lord Mobius! Your five-leaf maple is very vibrant, full of vigorous life." Zeus walked forward and plucked a leaf from the five-pointed maple.

"The God-King can rule Gods, the God Queen has the same power as the God-King and can also rule Gods, and the Twelve Main Gods are nobler than the other Olympus Gods."

"Lord Mobius, you are truly too naive. Your beliefs impress me. Your healing power is strong, coveted and desired by all Gods, so your status is naturally a cut above other Gods, such as those Gods who scatter clouds and mist." Zeus used lightning to simulate the appearance of clouds and mist.

"You surely cannot say that the God of Mountains and Stones on the earth is equal in status to you."

"If you say it, do you think anyone would believe it? Ares's power of war can easily destroy the power of the God of Mountains and Stones, sending him into a long slumber." Zeus said sarcastically, "Do you think the God of Mountains and Stones can loudly scold my Ares?"

"No! This! This is utterly impossible! Healing can heal the power of divinity, but your subordinate God of Comfort, if he had a source, could stabilize the emotions of other Gods. Do you think he could compare to you?"

"No, this is impossible!"

"You are afraid of Tethys, so at the moment of fear, your statuses are already unequal." Hera interjected, "The equal status among Source Gods only provides a minimum restriction for Gods, which is that Gods cannot be insulted."

Mobius said indifferently, "If that is the case, then undoubtedly later-born Source Gods will be dissatisfied with the previous generation of Gods."

"What if those dissatisfied Gods gather and overthrow your rule?" A wisteria appeared in Mobius's right hand. "The right to freedom belongs to all Gods, supporting each other, continuing to grow and strengthen."

Zeus moved his index finger, and the wisteria floated before him. "What a beautiful plant, Hera!"

"Yes, at that time, we also hoped that beautiful wisteria could bloom by our side." Hera opened the power of the distant irises, and wisteria seeds grew from within, blooming in the empty temple.

Zeus said nostalgically, "That's right, that's what I did. I led my brothers and sisters to overthrow the rule of Second Generation God King Cronus. We once relied on the symbol of the wisteria. Yet wisteria and five-pointed maple have appeared in your hand, my youngest child, the child born of prophecy!"

"Second Generation God King Cronus overthrowing the rule of Uranus, the first generation of God-Kings, was also based on naive ideas like yours, but they still did not achieve the equality you speak of."

"Do you know why?" Zeus transformed the wisteria into a throne, gesturing for Mobius to sit down.

A hint of surprise flickered in Mobius's eyes; he found that the current Zeus was completely different from what he had seen before.

Incompetence, greed, cruelty—none of these qualities appeared on Zeus; instead, there was a sense of clarity.

"Because my brothers and sisters, they put in countless efforts for me to seize this position of God-King!" Zeus brought forth his memories from the Titan War.

"Blood... fear... sorrow... apprehension... and war. Yet you want those who haven't experienced war, those newly born Gods, to share the God-King's rights, to share the power of ruling the world. Do you think this is right?" Zeus asked Mobius, his voice filled with oppression.

"My elder brother, Lord Hades, had his divine body devoured until only his head remained inside Cronus's stomach. He was severely wounded in the war against Iapetos, the God of Souls, losing two arms, and a part of his soul is missing, leaving his face unable to express emotions, and his divinity is on the verge of shattering!"

"After paying such a huge price, would he be willing to let those lazy and timid Source Gods share the rights after Cronus was driven from the God-King's position?" Zeus said sharply.
