Chapter 7: Lull Him To Sleep
Nan Xiaoying abruptly stopped when she heard someone's voice and the atmosphere that she made dissipated like a bubble pop.
She tilts her head upwards and her eyes meet someone's orbs. She stilled. The man's eyes were somewhat just like hers. Dimmed and lack of light. However, it had slightly glowed within a second before confusion flashed in his eyes.
He went to the side before grabbing a stool on the side. He sits on the side of the piano and he crosses his arms while he leans on the piano.
"Play it again."
Her brows frown at his demanding voice. How dare this man command her like that? She was about to be rebuked when the middle-aged woman called her.
"Miss, can you play it again for us? It's very comforting to listen."
Hearing it from her, Xiaoying nods. She can't just refuse the old lady, especially when she hears her voice sincerely, unlike this man on her side.
But she just ignored him by the way, took a sigh before starting it again.
The once warm atmosphere became heavy again as she started playing the keys.
Meanwhile in her mind, she was trying to sing the lyrics that she wrote.
I was alone, I withered
There's no light, even the moon disappeared
All along it was silence, darkness
How could it be like this?
As she was being immersed by her own world, the man on her side was still staring at her.
It was as if he was hypnotized again by her music. He can't look away and feels like his world is slowly being tied to her music.
And without him noticing, his eyes slowly closed and he let her music lull him to sleep.
Minutes had passed and she finally reached the last key. After she stopped playing, her gaze went to the man and she was taken aback when she saw him dozing off.
She looked at the two on the side and pointed to the man. There's a confusion on their face as they step forward and look at the man who's not moving anymore.
However, Xiaoying was confused when she saw the horror and surprise on their faces when they saw him sleeping.
Is there something wrong with seeing him asleep? She really wants to ask but her situation refuses her to do so. She sighs in frustration. This new reality is giving her pain.
"M-Miss . . . ." She looked at the other man whose face was still full of surprise.
"D-Did you just let him sleep?" She frowned. What's wrong about it?
It was as if he didn't mind seeing her and didn't answer so she closed the lid and took her paper and pen again.
I'll take the guitar and violin to the counter. Meanwhile, I also want to buy this piano, but since this man is sleeping on it, please deliver the piano to this address and I'll advance the payment. Thank you.
She gives the note to the middle-age woman and she nods happily before reading her things.
She looks at the man again and blink. The man has his own exceptional beauty. His skin is very flawless and he has his own perfect face that definitely fits in every aspect. And seeing him asleep, she can tell that he looks very different from the arrogant and demanding man earlier.
He looks so peaceful that anyone can't afford to wake him up.
She quietly stood up from her seat and her steps were light— walking away to the counter.
After she gave the payment and picked up her guitar and violin, the other man probably came from his senses and he immediately stood in front of her. There was still a disbelief on his face but he looked at him with so much admiration that somewhat made her feel unease.
Why does she feel like she was about to be engaged with something that she would never have expected?
She awkwardly looks away and hurriedly runs away before even the man can react. She fastly took a cab and heaved a sigh when she finally escaped from that weird man.
Minutes passed and she reached the house. After setting her things in her room, the doorbell rings.
She hurriedly went outside and she smiled happily when she got her things.
She immediately arranges it in her room and begins doing her favorite thing— drawing.
Other than the instruments, she also bought drawing equipment such as the digital sketches online and delivered them here. She wants to start being an artist again and it's the most suitable job for her situation.
She can draw and get paid without talking or meeting someone.
Xiaoying took the outline that she had written last night for her story. After once again editing the sequence, she started her first work.
It was entitled Finding Souls For Music. The female protagonist We Yan was just a normal college girl. She was living her life alone until one night, she dreamed about the deaths of some people while there's instruments on their side. It was as if she dreamed about the musician's death. However, she can't find a way to let them know and believe her. She also couldn't play any instruments— well that's what she knew. Because on another night, an unknown system suddenly appeared on her mind and gave her a mission.
And that is to save those musicians from their deaths. The system gave her a great talent in music. Even if her position wasn't in the right style, or even her cords were placed wrong, the natural music will flow as long as she plays it.
So then, she switches to the music department and begins meeting the other characters. However, she met multiple obstacles that even the first person who'll be the victim died due to them— didn't believe her.
Also, just like the other novel, the male protagonist was a violinist. However, he was very aloof and didn't even spare her a glance.
This story was actually somewhat similar to her comics on her past life but the difference was the story doesn't have romance. But since she wants to gather more readers, to attract them, she needs to add some spice and the romance genre is the perfect one to add a twist on it.
Nan Xiaoying was happily doing her drawings and she was just pulled from being immersed when she heard the doorbell again.
She hurriedly went outside and was about to smile when she saw the piano on the truck.
However, she was surprised to see a man leaning on the car— looking very intently on her.
She blinked. What was this man doing here?
To be continued.
