Evelyn's POV
My eyes widened when I heard all that had been said, but before I could ask any more questions, he exited the room, leaving me alone with the girl.
"Where are we? Did he just say someone was going to buy me?" It was at that moment it dawned on me. We were at the hidden human market at Ravenclaw.
I had heard rumours of this place, and now that I had quickly realized where I was, my heart sank. This place was only accessible to rich influential people who actually came here to buy slaves or young girls for their pleasure. That was the story I was told, but that wasn't even all.
"No, let me go, please…" the screech was loud enough to input fear inside of me. I had never been in this kind of situation before. However, the cages were set facing each other in an opposite direction, so there was actually a probability that I was opportune to see everything that was going on there.
No words were said. I couldn't say anything. The fact that I was seeing ladies being dragged out made me scared. I knew my turn might be anytime soon.
"So many women…" I echoed, trying to even my breathing. There was definitely a lot going on, but all I wanted was just simple peace of mind, and to go back home.
Gazing around didn't help one bit, I noticed that the girl I had tried to save wasn't even the youngest here. There was a girl who looked so much younger.
She was in the next cell, her legs drawn to her chest, and her head lowered. Her back moved in a pattern that showed she was sobbing.
"Excuse me? Little one?" I placed my hands through my cell, but it was able to reach her. "Little one!" I called louder hoping she would hear me, but she didn't.
A sigh left my lips, and just when I was about to give up, she turned towards my direction, sniffling.
I heaved. "How old are you?" I had to ask because I was extremely worried about her. Her growing structure was too young for this.
She sniffled again, this time, pressing her lips together. "I'm six…" she explained, and tried to make me understand, but there was actually no hope because in the next second, she was carried away from there.
I turned towards the girl next to me, and held her tightly, sniffling as well. I would be lying if I were to say I wasn't scared. That was a big lie. I was about to pee my pants as well.
Just then, the lock of the cage made a clock sound, making me aware of what was next. I swallowed, and was worried. However, I held tightly to the young girl who I was yet to know anything about.
"You're coming with us, the both of you. Apparently your new master wants you both," he expressed as five men barged into the cage. Two grabbed the young girl, taking her away, while I struggled with the remaining three. My hands were dangling, and I was busy trying to free myself.
"Let me go. Let the girl… ahhh!" I was lifted, and carried like a sack of potatoes on the shoulder until we got to where our supposed buyer was.
The young girl was there, her head lowered. Upon seeing, she was alright, I raised my eyes to see the fool who had bought us, and my chest felt like it was about to shatter. It was an old man with red eyes. It seemed his eye colour was as a result of too much drinking. His hair was rough, and from how he leaked his lips when he saw me, I recalled what the other guard said.
Goosebumps formed on my skin, but it worsened when he came close with a smirk on his lips.
"Good. I love redheads," he echoed, and gestured for us to be taken into his ride. However, just as he did, the door burst open and there was a lot of Commotion afterwards.
All I noticed was another set of men trying to round up everyone, and according to the rumours I heard from the guards, I held tightly to the young girl.
The guards rounded up the bad guys, and they tried saving the rest of the girls upon the orders from a man who walked in, his eyes scouting the place.
"We'll do as Lucan king Damien had said. Take them back to the pack house, and make sure they are well cared for."
The rest of the guards nodded, and my eyes widened. "Lycan king? This was going to be a strange movement indeed. What was our fate?"
"You have to go–"
I interrupted them. "The girl stays with me. I'm here to ensure she's safe at all times,"I expressed, giving the guards a hard time even as we got to the pack house. I didn't talk when they asked me questions, and it irked a few of them.
"Enough, I'm reporting this to the Lycan king. You're making our job very difficult for us!" He barked, but I didn't care, making him walk out.
As soon as he did, I turned to the girl, staring at the space we were given. It was small, but it had a bed, a mattress, and a bathroom. That was more than enough. At least it was better than the last cell we stayed in.
As I rubbed her hair gently, the door opened, and I saw a man tall, and handsome. His build was out of this world, and for a few seconds I couldn't take my eyes off him.
"Who was he?" I asked, but I quickly widened my eyes when I realized. The guard had told me earlier he would report me to the Alpha king for being stubborn.
I noticed his blue eyes lingering on me, and his hands that were fists slowly fading away. The setting was dim, but I held his expression in my gaze.
However, as his lips parted, the words I was expecting him to say came out differently
"MATE…"
