Chapter 58: Defeating You—Only Takes One Move!
The woman had a tall figure, skin fairer than snow, and delicate, well-proportioned features—truly beautiful.
Unfortunately, her frosty expression gave off an aura of cold distance that made her hard to approach.
"Teacher."
The woman in the purple dress entered the bamboo room and bowed to Master Yan, her voice calm and cool.
Master Yan nodded slightly, then introduced her to Lin Fan and Lin Dong:
"This is Ziyue, the most outstanding young Symbol Master of our Yan City Symbol Master Association, and also my disciple—a Second Seal Symbol Master."
He then turned to Ziyue and added, "Lin Fan and Lin Dong are also considered part of our Yan City association. I invited them here to give us a better shot at the upcoming Tower Battle."
"Oh, and by the way, Lin Dong is also a Second Seal Symbol Master, just like you. As for Lin Fan… he's already reached the Third Seal."
"Third Seal?"
Upon hearing that, even Ziyue's icy expression showed a flicker of surprise.
That surprise quickly turned into suspicion, and her beautiful eyes glinted.
A wave of powerful spiritual energy suddenly burst forth like lightning—aimed directly at Lin Fan.
Clearly, she didn't entirely believe Master Yan's words and wanted to test it for herself.
Lin Fan simply smiled, not interested in meaningless conflict. With a thought, the three rune seals within his Niwan Palace began to tremble violently and flew out of his body.
The three rune seals formed spiraling vortexes in the air and instantly absorbed Ziyue's incoming spiritual force.
"He really is a Third Seal…"
Seeing her spiritual energy being absorbed, Ziyue's face paled slightly.
Looking at the three rune seals floating before Lin Fan, she felt a rare sense of defeat and didn't try to probe further.
Seeing her withdraw, Lin Fan calmly retracted the seals.
"Heh, no conflict, no understanding," Master Yan chuckled lightly and then said to Ziyue,
"Well? Do you believe me now? There's always someone better out there—never underestimate the world."
Ziyue replied respectfully, "Your disciple will remember your teaching, Master."
Master Yan then turned to Lin Fan with a smile. "Lin Fan, your natal rune seal must be a Life Symbol, yes? I noticed it absorbed her spiritual force—very impressive."
Lin Fan didn't deny it. "Just got lucky and found a method for condensing Life Symbols."
"Lucky, hmm…" Master Yan chuckled but didn't press further. "Anyway, enough talk. Ziyue, take them around the Symbol Master Association."
"Yes, Teacher."
Ziyue nodded indifferently and then turned her gaze toward Lin Fan.
"Let's go," Lin Fan said to Lin Dong with a grin, standing up and heading out of the bamboo house first.
Lin Dong gave Master Yan a polite nod and quickly followed.
Back inside, Master Yan gave Ziyue a few more instructions before she exited the house.
"Follow me," she said flatly, then took the lead.
Lin Fan and Lin Dong exchanged a glance and followed quietly, taking in their surroundings.
Along the way, they passed many Symbol Masters. Seeing two unfamiliar faces walking with Ziyue, many looked surprised.
But no one stepped forward to challenge them.
The trio wandered through the compound mostly in silence. Ziyue, it seemed, had no intention of acting like a proper guide.
Trailing behind, Lin Dong felt a bit awkward.
Lin Fan, on the other hand, was completely at ease and said leisurely, "We're already here. Might as well enjoy it—just relax."
"Yeah," Lin Dong nodded, no longer dwelling on it.
About ten minutes later, they arrived at a secluded area deep within the estate.
A simple-looking gray tower came into view.
From the tower, Lin Fan sensed a terrifying amount of spiritual energy—far surpassing even Master Yan's.
Lin Dong sensed it too, his expression turning solemn.
"That is the Symbol Master Tower," Ziyue explained coldly. "Formed from the combined spiritual power of countless predecessors—it's a sacred place in the hearts of all Symbol Masters."
With that said, she resumed walking forward.
Lin Fan and Lin Dong lingered for a moment, gazing at the tower, then followed after her.
A few minutes later, Ziyue stopped again, her gaze landing on a nearby plaza.
Following her line of sight, Lin Fan saw the square filled with people—all of them Symbol Masters.
Two people were currently sparring in the middle of the crowd, while others cheered from the sidelines.
One of the fighters was a Second Seal Symbol Master in white robes. His opponent, however, was only at the First Seal level.
As expected, the white-robed Symbol Master easily won.
"Ha! So this is the mighty Yan City Symbol Master Association? What a joke!"
The white-robed man laughed loudly, looking around arrogantly.
His laughter earned many glares from the Yan City Symbol Masters present.
He sneered. "If you're not convinced, come fight me. I'll tell you now—I'm not even among the top ranks in Tianhuo City's association."
"If none of you can beat me, then don't even bother entering the Tower Battle. Save yourselves the embarrassment!"
Ziyue's face grew even colder as she listened to his arrogant rant.
Suddenly, her eyes shifted toward Lin Fan.
"You want me to shut that guy up?" Lin Fan asked with a smile.
Ziyue nodded. "As a member of the Yan City association, it's your duty to defend our reputation. For someone like him, it shouldn't be a problem for you."
"Not at all." Lin Fan nodded calmly, then added with a grin, "But I don't do anything without some kind of reward."
Ziyue raised a brow. "What do you want?"
"I've heard you possess a spiritual defense technique…" Lin Fan trailed off, but his meaning was clear.
He recalled that in the original novel, Ziyue had used a powerful defensive spiritual art called the Divine Shield during a test against Lin Dong.
"If you can defeat him within three moves, I'll teach you the Divine Shield," Ziyue said, after a brief pause.
"Deal."
Lin Fan smiled faintly and leapt directly into the plaza.
"Nice!"
The Yan City Symbol Masters erupted in cheers.
The white-robed man looked surprised at first, then sneered.
"Well, well. Looks like Yan City still has a few fools who don't know their limits. Perfect—I wasn't done having fun yet!"
Looking at the smug expression on the man's face, Lin Fan frowned slightly and calmly raised a finger.
"To defeat you, one move is enough."
Whoosh!
Gasps erupted from the crowd on both sides.
No one had expected Lin Fan to be even more arrogant than the guy in white—his words were outright shocking.
"Arrogant!" the white-robed man snapped, his face darkening.
"Remember this name: I am Cao Zhu from Tianhuo City's Symbol Master Association. After today, you won't ever forget it!"
Even as he spoke, several icy needles shot out from his sleeves, streaking through the air toward Lin Fan like lightning!
