Chapter 53 - Chapter 53: Insight

Reaching level 20 would grant him his second golden loot box.

The first golden loot box had given him a technique similar to space-time ninjutsu — Instant Transmission.

Now, as Uchiha Yuan's constitution had increased, the negative effects from consecutive uses of Instant Transmission were growing weaker. Apart from the cost of 10 Chakra points per use, the technique was practically flawless.

Since the first loot box had been so rewarding, Uchiha Yuan was full of anticipation for the next one.

He excitedly rubbed his hands together and claimed the second golden loot box.

Once opened, it was another scroll.

Just like last time, the moment his hand touched the scroll, it vanished, and a new skill appeared in his mind.

Skill Name: Insight (看破)

Skill Type: Dōjutsu (Eye Technique)

Skill Effect: When activated, it synergizes with the Sharingan's perception, allowing the user to instantly identify weak points in an enemy or object's defenses. Attacking these weak points deals significant damage.

Chakra Cost: 1 Chakra per 10 seconds.

Friendly Tip: "Insight reveals but does not announce; attack directly—don't waste time showing off or explaining. The more it's used, the more it levels up."

After reading the skill description, a name popped into Uchiha Yuan's head: Mystic Eyes of Death Perception.

Strictly speaking, the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception aren't really a jutsu but rather a unique type of eye, similar to the Sharingan.

Those who possess such eyes can visually perceive "death lines" like cracks across nearly all matter. Striking along these lines inflicts unhealable, unstoppable damage.

Insight reveals defensive weak points, and striking those weak points causes major damage.

In a sense, the principle behind both is similar.

Of course, Insight couldn't possibly compare to the Mystic Eyes. The latter's attacks are literally unavoidable and incurable — they're on a completely different level.

But even so, this new dōjutsu was a major upgrade when combined with the Sharingan.

Thinking this, Uchiha Yuan sat up, activated his Sharingan, then activated Insight, and scanned the room in his tent.

First, his bed—no strange markings appeared in his vision, but he now instinctively knew the weak spot in the bed's structure.

Of course, he wasn't about to test this out on his own bed. Where else would he sleep?

Everything in his tent was useful, so he headed to the forest near the camp.

There, a few genin were chopping wood—including Might Guy, Genma Shiranui, and Ebisu.

"Yo! Yuan, out for a stroll?" Guy approached cheerfully when he saw him.

"Mm, just had dinner—figured I'd walk off some of it. What are you guys up to?"

"This is our mission today: gather wood for the camp. But all the fallen branches on the road are gone, so we have to chop trees now," Genma Shiranui explained.

Lately, Uchiha Yuan had occasionally come to see Guy. They were all peers from the same cohort, and over time they'd grown familiar.

"I see. Then let me give you a hand." With that, Uchiha Yuan activated both Sharingan and Insight and scanned the trees in the forest.

He then used Instant Transmission to arrive at one large tree, focused Chakra into his fist, and struck the tree trunk.

CRACK!With a thunderous snap, the massive tree was cut clean in half.

"A-Amazing!" Ebisu exclaimed, eyes wide.

"One punch to split such a thick tree—yeah, that's insane," Genma followed.

"Yuan, you've gotten stronger again! I can't fall behind!" Guy turned to another large tree and launched a flurry of punches, managing to break it as well.

Watching Guy knock over the tree, Uchiha Yuan walked over, placed a hand on his shoulder, and said:

"Guy, lately have you felt some unusual strain in your right arm when moving it?"

"Yeah! How did you know?"

Uchiha Yuan pointed at his eyes and said, "Your right shoulder joint has significant wear and tear. I recommend you rest it for a few days. If not, you could end up with a more serious problem later."

"Eh? That bad?"

"In any case, don't do intense activity with your right arm for a while."

With that, Uchiha Yuan turned and left.

Back in his tent, he thought about his earlier experiment in the forest.

From his observations, the greatest strength of Insight was its ability to immediately pinpoint weak spots on any object—or person.

With Insight to find vulnerabilities and Instant Transmission to strike them instantly, Uchiha Yuan realized he might soon reach the level of Namikaze Minato, capable of instant kills.

Now, all he lacked was a Rasengan to finish the combo.

Too bad Namikaze Minato had already invented the Rasengan by this point, so copying it was off the table. That was... awkward.

Still, Uchiha Yuan hadn't completely given up hope on learning the Rasengan. If he could establish a good relationship with Minato later, then given Minato's character, he might be willing to teach it.

After all, Minato was the kind of guy who taught even the Flying Thunder God Technique to his bodyguards without reservation. Learning Rasengan shouldn't be out of the question, right?
