Chapter 1 - Bright and Early

What a beautiful morning in the cold Canadian weather. Trees swaying in the wind, geese flying above the bright sunny sky. I get up from my bed and freshen up. The name is Tanner, I'm camping with my family for a week. My dad brought us to Canada for a more "immersive experience" but it's just some trees to me. My older sister on the other hand likes the forest more than the city but I don't know why. "Tanner breakfast is ready, wake up your sister," my dad says.

I head to my sister's room and knock on the door, " Who is it," my sister says "Me" I reply "Breakfast is ready come down and eat." I hear a groan from the door "I'll be out in a second."

I go down stairs and see your usual breakfast some eggs, bacon, hash browns, sausage, and your classic pancakes. I see my father reading the newspaper and my mother waiting at the table. "Took you long enough," my father's says. "I just woke up," I reply. I sit down at the table and say my grace with my mother and we eat without my sister. After I'm done, my sister finally comes down and isn't surprised we ate without her since this wasn't the first time. My father said we are leaving for the camping site this afternoon and to make sure we packed everything we needed for the trip. I brought an acorn for good luck because again anything can happen in the woods.

I get my backpack and put in the trunk. I see my sister trying to pull a big bag of things she doesn't need like perfume, lipstick, and eyeliner but I don't know who she is trying to look for, maybe I'll find out soon enough. I close the trunk and already see my mother and father in the front seats and my sister on backseat to the left. I get in and heard the garage open from behind. At least I'm missing school for this, but I still can't believe we are actually spending a day in the woods.
