CHAPTER SEVENTEEN: I DON'T WANT YOU AGAIN
The man, undeterred by the first man's attempt to silence him, regained his confidence and faced the rich woman and the bold man who had spoken earlier. "Let me tell you, if I speak the truth, I will die, and if I don't speak it, I will still die. So, let me say it, and do whatever you want to do to me."
The man took a deep breath and continued, "I don't think this man is to be blamed for what this woman accuses him of. Before he came into her life, I knew her status, and after they got married, everything began to be smooth for her. She knows the reason for that, and she thinks she is at the peak of her success, which is why she thinks this man is no longer important."
The rich woman glared at the man, her face twisted in anger. "It is true that I was not financially buoyant when I was about to marry," she said, "but after I got married, I didn't sit idle. I strove hard to get to where I am today, and this man did not make any attempts to help me. I don't know the relationship between you and him, but I am telling you the truth here."
The man smiled and said, "I think you will not regret your actions later, but then you will not have a chance again. As a good woman, you can't discuss private matters inside your house, but you want to humiliate your husband, that's why you speak ill of him publicly, so that everybody will dislike him and have no place in the village. It is necessary for you to tell us that you want to divorce him."
The rich woman's eyes narrowed, her anger boiling over. "How did this man know my intentions?" she thought to herself. She quickly summoned her courage and faced the guests. "This man and my ex are birds of the same feather, that's why he is standing up for him. Maybe his wife is also taking care of him at home."
The guests erupted into laughter, tears streaming down their faces. "You got it, you are correct! They are the same class, and he must fight for his brother's rights."
The rich woman's husband, who had been quietly observing the exchange, was dumbfounded. He was surprised and angry, and he needed to talk to this senseless lady first before he decided what to do. "No matter who stands up for him, I don't want him again, even if God himself comes down. I have made up my mind."
The phrase "I don't want him again" echoed in her husband's ears, and he stood up abruptly, his face set in determination.
