The cafeteria buzzed with the usual lunchtime chaos as I approached our regular table. Seraphina waved enthusiastically while Liam and Debra were already deep in conversation.
"There she is!" Seraphina called out. "The future stepsister of the infamous Ethan Croft!"
I rolled my eyes and slid into the empty seat. "The wedding isn't for another month, Sera."
"Details, details." She flipped her glossy hair over her shoulder. "So, tell us everything about your mom's dress. Did she find the perfect one?"
A smile spread across my face as I recalled yesterday's fitting. "She did. It's ivory with lace sleeves and this beautiful train that isn't too long but still makes a statement. She looked..." I paused, feeling a lump in my throat. "She looked really happy."
"That's wonderful," Liam said, his warm eyes meeting mine. "Your mom deserves it after everything."
