Chapter 64 - Chapter 64: Haru Helps Iono Brush Her Teeth with His Onix (Part 2)

Seeing Lunala's aura surge once more, "Lana," who had only just escaped and was still running low on energy, panicked.

"Krrrk! Master Lana, what have you done?!"

"You took most of my power—how are we supposed to stand against Lunala now?!"

"Also, why the heck did you abandon me earlier?!"

Sure, in the anime and games Lunala's basically just Necrozma's tofu sidekick, but come on—it's still a bona fide Legendary Pokémon. How could they expect to win now, especially when their powers were split?

Feeling like the moisture was rapidly draining from her body, Nezzy started to freak out.

But the girl only smiled calmly and said in an eerily composed voice:

"Simple—we just need to become Complete Forme Necrozma."

With that declaration, she grabbed "Lana" without hesitation—fusing her back into her body in an instant.

"Come, let us become one again!"

The two Lanas merged in a radiant light. And what stood before Lillie now... was no longer human.

It was a Pokémon she had never seen before—an enormous golden lion, radiant as the blazing sun.

But if you looked closely, you'd notice something else—coating the lion's body were streaks of black crystalline armor, shining with the exact same gleam as Necrozma's true form.

If Solgaleo is a sun god, then this thing—this is a god that rules over the sun god.

To be fair, even if Lana had ditched Necrozma earlier and ran for her life without a second thought, she did help fulfill Necrozma's long-held wish—becoming whole again.

And once she returned, she didn't hesitate to pull Necrozma out of Ultra Megalopolis, saving her from further suffering.

That—clearly—was her sense of responsibility as a good mentor (??)

Definitely not because a proper fusion required a complete set of materials or anything. Nope. Not at all.

Now fused, Lana immediately began defending her earlier actions in her mind.

"Okay, yeah, leaving you behind was bad. I admit it. But I had reasons!

Back then, I barely had any energy left. If we'd both fallen into that guy's hands, we'd never have gotten away.

So I had to leave you there—for now—so I could recover, go all out against Solgaleo, and you could... enjoy some alone time—er, hold out for a bit."

"This way we both get rescued. See? I did come back for you!"

"Besides, wasn't riding Solgaleo your dream? You're welcome—I made it come true ahead of schedule!"

Big Nezzy's mind was kind of a mess. Something felt off, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

But what if that guy really had hurt me...?

"No way," Lana's inner monologue assured. "From what I saw, he totally wasn't the type to go too far.

If I didn't trust him, would I have left you there in the first place? Think about it!"

"Anyway, that's all in the past. What matters now is defeating that arrogant bat! Isn't that what you've always wanted?"

"...Y-yeah. I guess."

Poor Nezzy, ever so honest and confused, couldn't fully make sense of what just happened. But Solgaleo's power was now hers, and Lana had saved her...

So maybe Lana wasn't totally wrong?

And honestly, in hindsight, the experience wasn't that painful. It even had a weird thrill to it...

Is being a human girl really this... fun?

With the thunder and fire of battle raging around them, the two (??) minds reached consensus—Lillie was the new target.

"Do you see now, Lillie? This is my true power!"

"I ask you now: do you have the courage to face someone wielding the power of the sun god?!"

"LYORAAAAAA!!"

At Lana-zma's deafening roar, a storm of cosmic energy erupted like a spatial hurricane, pulverizing everything in its path.

This was a force meant to shake Lillie—to make her fear!

If she lost again... what fate would await her?

She remembered all too well the terror from her first encounter with Necrozma...

But now, everything was different. She had power—terrifying power—enough to crush everything in her path.

No big deal. I will win.

I just need to trust in Nebby and our bond!

"Nebby, start with Cosmic Power!"

Lunala was the classic bulky tank.

Sure, its physical defense was a bit on the low side, but it had an absurdly high (and mostly useless) base Attack stat of 113—basically enough to sit at the same table as that ultra-durable barrel-bodied Giratina.

Still, it had a much better ability than old-school Legendaries, and it could boost with Cosmic Power—a move coveted by every wall-oriented Pokémon ever, raising both Defense and Special Defense.

With enough stacks, Lunala could build its defenses to ridiculous heights.

And once it got there, it just might be able to clash head-on with Necrozma.

Hmph. Even fused, Necrozma's still just a Psychic-type. When the time comes, it'll fall before the power of Shadow Shield and Moongeist Beam.

But...

Lana-zma had no intention of giving Lillie that chance.

Because Dusk Mane wasn't even Necrozma's final form. After the fusion, it could grow even stronger.

The golden mane began to shine even brighter—as if it would melt everything around it.

"O sun, lend me your strength!"

"If you love Ultra Space, then grant me power—let me defeat Lunala!"

And in Lana's cry—

—Necrozma's true ultimate form emerged.

Bathed in endless light, the Solgaleo half vanished entirely. What now stood in its place was a blazing golden dragon.

"LIGHT!!!"

Ultra Necrozma.

A being whose base stats even surpassed the radiant god Arceus—it had finally appeared.

Though, to be fair, in terms of actual power, Ultra Necrozma would probably still get thrashed by Eternatus's Eternamax form.

Still, its 754 total base stats made it second only to Eternamax Eternatus in all of Pokémon.

To put that in perspective, most sub-Legendaries (the "Tier 2" gods) had base stats over 550, and most true Legendaries capped at around 680.

That's how absurdly strong Ultra Necrozma was.

Sure, in real combat, base stats don't tell the whole story. And yeah, its double-attacking spread is kind of awkward, and Psychic/Dragon isn't exactly a god-tier type combo...

But Ultra Necrozma absolutely had the qualifications to challenge—or even defeat—most Legendary Pokémon.

At the very least, it could definitely wreck that poor camcorder that once got bodied by a Swinub and a Delibird.

"Lillie. This is my full power.

Do you still have the courage to face me?"

"If you manage to defeat me... I'll even be your and Haru's mattress when you two do X. But can you pull it off?"

"Remember, Lillie—you're the challenger here."

Lana didn't really want to hurt Lillie. But she still had to keep up appearances—especially for her overly trusting apprentice.

"You're too arrogant, Lana. No one can stay on top forever—not even you!"

Lillie could hardly believe the power Ultra Necrozma now wielded.

But as Haru's savior, she refused to back down.

"Then let's find out!"

Necrozma's mouth opened—and unleashed its signature move: Photon Geyser.

"It won't work! Lunala, dodge and keep using Cosmic Power!"

Lunala didn't dare take a direct hit from Big Nezzy. It barely dodged the earth-shattering attack...

Which just so happened to hit the exact spot Lunala had been hovering above—ripping a gaping hole in the floor.

And through that hole...

Everyone saw—

Haru brushing Iono's teeth with his Onix?!

...huh?
