Chapter 1 - The Cube

"This piece of sh*t!" Agra furiously shouted while throwing a small black cube of about 5 cm³ on the ground. His anger didn't just stop there as he proceeded and slammed his own fist on the wall next to him, breaking his left knuckles as blood started to trickle out.

He had literally tried everything he could to open the cube but nothing seemed to be working out, and Agra felt like he had finally hit the limit of his extend.

He couldn't continue like this, no, as the more he seemed to be depending on the cube to work its magic out, the more his life turned even more miserable.

He knew the cube was important, else, why would his mother ask him to protect the cube with his life, before she set off to the Frontline to battle against Quinsela's army.

Unfortunately, nine years has since passed, Agra has already turned sixteen and his mother is yet to return and educate him of the impotence of this cube.

He doesn't know who his father is, and at the same time, he doesn't know if his mother is still alive or not.

Well, he has been placed in one of the orphanages in the FirstWorld, just two days after his mother's departure as the reports claim that his mother's squad was ambushed by the shadow army shortly after the departure, and no soul was spared.

This all gave Agra some headaches, especially after all the dead body of his mother's squad was retrieved, with only two missing, his mother, and her deputy of the clique.

Agra didn't know what to make of this, some part of him prayed to the gods, even though they have long abandoned the medleys, for his mother to be alive, but something deep within him somehow echoed to him that his mother was long gone.

His only hope was on the black cube she left behind, he felt like the cube held some dark secrets within that were calling for him, and no matter how dark they were, Agra was determined to unfold them.

He wished, no, he knew that this was the secret to his path to power, something deep within him confirmed it to him, especially now that his fluxed cells (fc), has not yet awakened even after Agra had turned sixteen.

No! Agra is not human, he is from a very powerful race, next to the gods, known as the Medley.

Their natural habitat is the FirstWorld, the world created first by the Maker, and centered in the middle of all the universes. But the FirstWorld isn't a peaceful place as one would have expected.

The Medleys are at a fierce war against the dark army lead by a previously powerful medley known as Quinsela.

She has the most darkest Fluxed Energy (fe), that's slowly corrupting and killing the FirstWorld and certainly destroying the balance of nature.

If the medleys won't do something, soon, the effect could spread across all the universes and upset the Maker, something that the Medleys could not afford.

Luckily, the medleys have found a way around this, which is to travel to the next worlds full of pure mana, cultivate their Fe, then return back to the FirstWorld where their body would naturally release the mana to the atmosphere and try and cleanse Quinsela's dark fe.

Those travelling to this new worlds are medleys that have previously turned sixteen and awakened their fc. And knowing this, Agra was too frustrated as he really need to travel to this new worlds.

He knew this was his only ticket to finding what really happened to his mother, the Frontlines. But unfortunately, he can never be allowed in the Frontlines if he is not strong enough.

That's the reason why he is this much frustrated. It's just two days till the teleportation circles are triggered, and if he fails to awakened his fe before then, then this would be a deal done to him.

We certainly can't say that his life in the orphanage has been a mary. No. Imagine being as weak as he is in the world where strength in valued above everything else.

With his fc, which controls the Fe not awakened, Agra had always been an easy target for bullying and a punching bag to literally whoever who wants to.

So yeah, he really needed to get out of here at any cost, and finally find his own footings.

He slid down against the wall and sat with tears trickling down his blue eyes. He found his nimble fingers brushing against his slightly curly black hair as he stretched his legt leg against the floor that, if he stood, would place him at an height of about 5"11.

He took a deep gulp of bitterness while turning his eyes to the left, only to see the cube, as if staring back at him while begging to be picked up.

The cube didn't look any rare, especially not in the FirstWorld, except with the dark black glittering material that seemed to have been used to fodge it. Its surface was mirror polished with bluish lines of what seemed to have been the lines of blue lightning crisscrossing the interior of the surface.

Looking at it, Agra couldn't fight his urge of wanting to hold the cube in his hands, it didn't just act as an object to him. It also held the last memories of his mother, which kind of made Agra feel bad for throwing it on the floor. And thus, he extended his left hand to pick the cube up but, the moment his bloody fingers made contact with cube, something strange happened.

The cube fumed then started to shake vigorously with a metallic sounds of what seemed to be a turning turbines coming from within, as it released a blinding bluish light.

The cube then lifted itself from the floor, hovered above and stopped just at Agra's eye level, as if seizing him up.

Everything happened too fast that Agra didn't even know how to react. He wished to have jolted back and away from that cube, but unfortunately, his back was against the wall that granted him no room to run. And before he knew it, a small circular opening appeared on the cube that all the light seems to have been coming from, and, the moment the light flashed against Agra's eyes, his body was mysteriously swallowed, sucked as he disappear through the small opening on the cube.
