Chapter 4 - MORNING AFTER

Elma woke up feeling refreshed, a sense of hope lingering from the previous night's encounter with Liam. She got out of bed, made herself a cup of coffee, and stepped out onto the porch.

The morning air was crisp, filled with the scent of blooming flowers. Elma took a deep breath, feeling a sense of peace wash over her.

As she sipped her coffee, she couldn't help but think about Liam. She wondered if he'd meant to kiss her the night before, or if she'd just imagined the spark between them.

Just then, her phone buzzed with a text from Liam. "Good morning," it read. "Want to grab breakfast with me?"

Elma's heart skipped a beat at the invitation. She felt a flutter in her chest as she typed out a response. "I'd love to."

Over breakfast, they talked about everything from their favorite foods to their childhood memories. The conversation flowed effortlessly, and Elma felt like she was getting to know Liam all over again.

As they finished their meal, Liam reached out and took her hand. "I have a surprise for you," he said, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

Elma's curiosity was piqued. "What is it?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Liam just smiled. "You'll see. Trust me."

Liam drove Elma to a nearby park, where a hot air balloon was waiting. Elma's eyes widened in surprise as Liam took her hand and led her to the basket.

"We're going on a hot air balloon ride?" she asked, her voice filled with excitement.

Liam nodded, his eyes sparkling with anticipation. "I thought it would be a great way to spend the morning with you."

As they soared above the trees, Elma felt a sense of freedom she hadn't experienced in years. The wind rushed past her face, and the sun shone down on them. She felt alive, and happy.

Liam stood beside her, his arm around her shoulders. They talked little, content to simply enjoy the view.

As they floated over the countryside, Elma realized that she was having the time of her life. She felt a deep connection to Liam, one that went beyond mere nostalgia.

When they landed safely back on the ground, Liam turned to her. "I'm glad you enjoyed it," he said, his voice low and gentle.

Elma smiled up at him. "It was amazing," she replied. "Thank you for planning it."

Liam's eyes locked onto hers, and for a moment, Elma thought he might kiss her. But instead, he just smiled and took her hand.

As they walked back to the car, Elma felt a sense of excitement. She wasn't sure what the future held, but she knew she wanted to spend more time with Liam.

"Want to come over for dinner tonight?" Liam asked, his voice casual. "I can cook something special."

Elma's heart skipped a beat at the invitation. "I'd love to," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

As the day went by, Elma couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. She was excited to see Liam again, to spend more time with him.

When she arrived at his place, she was greeted by the aroma of something delicious cooking in the kitchen. Liam smiled as he welcomed her in.

"Hey," he said, his voice warm. "I'm making your favorite dish – pasta carbonara."

Elma's eyes widened in surprise. "You remembered?"

Liam nodded. "Of course. I remember everything about you."

Elma's heart skipped a beat at his words. She felt a flutter in her chest as she realized that Liam might still have feelings for her.

As they sat down to eat, Elma couldn't help but notice the way Liam looked at her. It was like he was seeing her for the first time, like he was rediscovering her.

The conversation flowed easily, and Elma felt like she was home. She realized that she had missed this, the comfort and ease of being with someone who knew her.

As they finished dinner, Liam reached out and took her hand. "I'm glad you're here," he said, his voice low and gentle.

Elma's heart fluttered at his touch. She felt a spark of attraction that she couldn't ignore. "I'm glad too," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

As they sat there, hands entwined, Elma wondered what the future held for them. Would they rekindle their old flame, or forge a new path together?

As the evening wore on, Liam and Elma found themselves lost in conversation. They talked about their dreams, their fears, and their aspirations. The connection between them grew stronger with each passing minute.

As the night drew to a close, Liam walked Elma to her car. "Thank you for tonight," she said, her voice filled with gratitude.

Liam smiled, his eyes sparkling with affection. "Anytime," he replied. "I'm glad we had a chance to catch up."

Elma's heart skipped a beat as Liam leaned in, his face inches from hers. She felt a rush of excitement, wondering if he would kiss her.

And then, in a moment that felt like slow motion, Liam's lips brushed against hers. The kiss was soft, gentle, and full of promise.

Elma's heart soared as she wrapped her arms around him, deepening the kiss. It felt like coming home, like she was exactly where she was meant to be.

As they pulled back, gasping for air, Elma smiled up at Liam. "I've missed you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Liam's eyes locked onto hers, filled with emotion. "I've missed you too," he replied. "More than you'll ever know."
