Why did you help me?" The black-haired girl with straight, long hair stared at Jasper with cold, sharp eyes, clearly preferring a slap to his assistance. That piercing look, a constant source of unexplained hostility, seriously annoyed him
That piercing look of hers—it was one of the reasons Jasper didn't like this girl. She always seemed to have this weird hostility toward him for no reason.
It seriously annoyed him.
Jasper picked up his stuff and said, "Sorry. Won't help you next time." He turned around and started walking away,
But the girl grabbed his arm. "Since I owe you now, I'm going to pay you back. Just tell me—how do I repay this favor?" She stared at him with a serious expression.
She stared at him with a serious expression.
Looking at her stubborn attitude, Jasper couldn't help but chuckle. What was with her? Why did it feel like he was the one in debt?
He pulled her hand off and said, "No need."
But she blocked his way again and said, "I can be your maid and do your housework."
"Huh? No thanks. My place is clean. Also, can you not be so annoying?" Jasper snapped, clearly running out of patience. Something about this girl just screamed ulterior motive.
He stepped around her and left.
She stood there, watching his back as he walked away. She bit her lip. Was it really that hard?
In his eyes, she was probably just some clingy, shameless, trashy girl. If that's what he thought anyway… then fine, she might as well go all in.
She chased after him again. "Either come to my place for dinner, or let me be your maid and take care of your house. Pick one."
Jasper ignored her.
Seeing that, she kept following and bugging him.
Eventually, both of them got dragged to the police station. A female officer had seen them arguing and brought them in.
"What did you do to her?" the female cop asked Jasper seriously. Good-looking boys like him were always tricking girls with their looks. And with a face like his, it wouldn't be hard to mess with anyone.Focus! Do your job! she told herself, pushing aside the intrusive thoughts.
Jasper told her everything that had happened.
The officer glanced at the girl. If what Jasper said was true, then this was probably just a case of the girl having a crush on him and being clingy.
"Aileen, come over here a second," a male officer called out.
The female cop stood up and walked away.
As soon as she was gone, the long-haired girl looked at Jasper and said, "If you don't want this to get more complicated, then pick one—maid or dinner at my place."
Jasper looked her dead in the eyes. "Are you threatening me, Mari Kobayashi?" The more he dealt with Mari, the more he felt something was seriously wrong with her. The more pissed he got, the more determined he was to push back and see just how far she'd go with her nonsense.
Mari, realizing Jasper wasn't going to give in, quickly messaged Jasper's foster parents.
Turns out, Mari actually had a good relationship with them.
His foster parents replied to her with a cheerful emoji.
About ten minutes later, Officer Aileen came back—this time with Jasper's foster parents and Mari's mom.
Mari's mom looked furious. Her face was like an ice sculpture.
This was the first time Jasper had seen Mari like this. She must be in serious trouble now.
After that, Jasper and a terrified Mari were taken to the Kobayashi house.
Her parents wanted to apologize for the whole situation, so they invited Jasper's family to dinner. He didn't want to go, but with his foster parents around, he didn't really have a choice.
Sure, Mari got a scolding—but at the same time, she managed to play the role of "the girl deeply in love with Jasper." And she was gonna use that image to keep bothering him in the future.
She was totally scheming something. Was her whole plan just to make his life harder?
Tch… so annoying.
Later, Mari was outside pulling weeds in the yard. When Jasper's foster parents saw that, they told him to go help her.
So Jasper reluctantly went outside and half-assed some weeding. While doing that, he looked over at Mari, who gave him a sweet smile and said, "Thanks for the hard work, Jasper~!"
He looked at her and said, "Is this supposed to be fun for you?"
Mari leaned in a little, still smiling. "It's super fun~! Watching you look all grumpy is just too cute~!"
Jasper snapped. "Seriously? I helped you earlier, and this is how you treat me?"
Mari tilted her head and said playfully, "But I like you, Jasper~ So I can do whatever I want, right? I mean, I'm totally head over heels in love~! Oh! And right now, I'm the crazy yandere type too! You better be careful~!"
Jasper: "…"
Yup. This girl was seriously messed up.
He stopped talking to her and just focused on fake-weeding.
Mari stared at him. Did she even still like him?
Back when they were kids—yeah, maybe then. The moment she first saw him, she thought he looked like an angel. So handsome. She used to really like him. But Jasper never seemed to like her back. He always ignored her.
So over time, she stopped liking him too. These days, she didn't like him at all—maybe even disliked him a little.
But seeing him flustered or annoyed? That was always entertaining.
Later, when they all sat down for dinner, Mari looked really happy. The only one sulking was Jasper.
Seeing his sour face only made her smile wider.
"Eat more meat, Jasper~!" she said cheerfully, putting a piece on his plate. "You looked like you were working super hard in the yard. Eat up and you'll get your strength back!"
Jasper acted like he didn't hear her, but still ate the meat she gave him. "Thanks," he muttered.
Mari froze for a second, then made a weird expression.
Dinner ended quickly after that.
Jasper rushed home as fast as he could—but Mari followed him.
Once inside, Jasper looked at her in his living room and said, "You're so annoying. Don't you have anything better to do? If you're this free, maybe try getting a job. Might even make some money."
Mari smiled, plopped down on the couch, and said, "Wanna go on a date with me? I won't even charge you~!"
Jasper tilted his head. "Hard pass."
Mari leaned in and blew on his face. "I'm still a virgin, you know~ Wanna try it? I mean, your parents are still over at my place chatting with my mom. If we're quick, we could go a few rounds~!"
Jasper: "…"
Without saying a word, Jasper stood up, grabbed Mari by the collar, and tossed her out the door.
This girl really didn't know when to quit.
