Toji Fushiguro strode along the stone path outside the Tombs of the Star Corridor, his phone buzzing incessantly in his pocket.
"Yo!"
A familiar, icy voice came through. "The Star Plasma Vessel? Dealt with?"
"She got away."
"What?!"
The voice turned furious. "Zenin… no, Toji Fushiguro! We agreed you'd assassinate her. No kill, no pay!"
"Yeah, yeah."
Toji rolled his eyes. "The Six Eyes twins and the Cursed Spirit Manipulator are down. The Vessel's just a matter of time."
"Your Pan-Star Cult wants to stop Tengen's assimilation, right? She's not in the Tombs, so chill for a bit."
"You'd better hurry. No corpse, no cash… Hey! Toji, you listening?!"
Toji stared blankly at the figure before him, forgetting to respond.
"Hey! Toji Fushiguro! You there?!"
He snapped the phone shut, pocketing it, and gaped at the impossible sight.
Satoru Gojo!
In the blinding sunlight, the figure looked frail, white hair flecked with red.
Satoru looked up, clothes bloodstained, his battered face wearing an unprecedented grin.
"Yo! Long time no see!"
Toji's pupils shrank, shock etched on his face.
"No way!"
"Way!"
Satoru brushed his bangs aside, revealing healed wounds. "I'm alive and kicking!"
Toji frowned.
Back from the dead? Only one thing could do that…
"Reverse Cursed Technique?"
"Ding ding ding!"
Satoru spread his arms, beaming like a kid who aced a quiz.
"Tch!"
Toji drew the Inverted Spear of Heaven, striking a combat stance with a feral grin. "Looks like the real fight's just starting!"
"Nope. It's over."
A familiar voice came from behind.
Toji spun, ghostly pale, to see a blood-drenched Sawa Gojo approaching, a manic smile on his face.
"Thanks, Toji!"
Satoru, spotting Sawa, smirked knowingly.
"Knew it, bro. If I can do it, no way you can't!"
"Thank you?"
Toji was baffled.
Sawa explained, "Yeah, we could never crack Reverse Cursed Technique before!"
"Turns out, tasting death—craving life with obsessive desperation—is the key!"
"Negative cursed energy times negative cursed energy equals positive cursed energy! Man, Toji, you should've lopped off our heads. Then you'd have won!"
Sawa's face twisted into Satoru's signature unhinged grin.
"Only by nearing death can one grasp the truth of existence. I told you that, didn't I, Sawa?"
A sudden voice startled all three.
Suguru Geto emerged from the Tombs, each step radiating cursed energy so intense it warped the air.
He patted his chest, laughing at Toji. "That stab? Hurt like hell!"
Toji was floored.
What the hell? I'm just an XP farm for these guys?
Sawa and Satoru locked eyes with Suguru, who returned their gaze.
The trio shared a knowing grin.
Sawa hadn't expected his offhand remark to push Suguru to master Reverse Cursed Technique, too.
"Reverse Cursed Technique's still a technique. Shove the Inverted Spear of Heaven through your skulls, and you're done!"
Toji roared, linking the Split Soul Katana to the Chain of a Thousand Miles, vanishing in a blur.
Clang!
A blade flashed, and Toji froze.
"Phase."
"Paramita."
"Pillar of Light."
"Technique Reverse: Red!"
Sawa's voice rang out behind him.
Limitless' forward technique wielded immense attraction; its reverse unleashed repulsion!
Toji turned, only to be struck by a black-red orb of devastating repulsive force.
BOOM!
The Tombs' grounds and buildings crumbled, the strike like a giant's plow.
The brutal attack left Toji reeling, but before he could recover, Satoru appeared before him.
"My turn. Technique Reverse: Red!"
"Again?!"
Toji raised the Split Soul Katana as a shield.
Its ability to nullify techniques could block Red.
But even as it canceled the technique, the sheer repulsive force hurled Toji backward.
"Pfft!"
Toji spat blood, staggering to his feet, only to see Suguru approaching.
Suguru smiled sweetly. "Don't worry, my technique's not as brutal as theirs."
"All Empty."
"Monks."
"Maraga."
"Technique Reverse: Grant!"
A Rainbow Dragon roared, charging Toji.
Toji smirked. "I've killed one of these before. It won't work again!"
Suguru just smiled, silent.
Toji dispatched the Level 1 cursed spirit in two slashes with the Inverted Spear of Heaven.
But before he could catch his breath, three more Rainbow Dragons surged from behind Suguru.
Toji paused, but three weren't a problem.
Then Suguru's shadow yawned like a bottomless abyss, and Rainbow Dragons poured out in droves.
"What the hell?"
Toji realized too late—he was surrounded by a horde of Rainbow Dragons!
One was easy, ten no issue.
But here? Over a hundred!
Rainbow Dragons weren't fodder—they were top-tier Level 1 cursed spirits!
Toji was stunned. "This… Cursed Spirit Manipulation?"
Suguru explained, grinning. "Cursed Spirit Manipulation's reverse."
"The forward technique converts cursed spirits into raw cursed energy for storage, releasing them in battle. That's 'Subdue.'"
"The reverse? Converting cursed energy into cursed spirits—or rather, catalyzing their formation!"
With a wave, dozens of Slit-Mouthed Women appeared where Toji had just slain one!
"My cursed energy's near limitless now, so I can spawn endless cursed spirits."
"How long can you last?"
The horde of cursed spirits roared, swarming Toji in a righteous beatdown.
As Toji fought, he glanced at the trio.
Oddly, Sawa, Satoru, and Suguru floated upward like feathers.
Sunlight bathed them, casting long shadows.
"This feeling… it's weird!"
"Like a fish drifting in the ocean?"
"This world… it's exhilarating!"
The three hovered, instinctively striking the same pose—one hand to the sky, one to the earth.
In unison, as if by instinct, they declared, "Above heaven, below earth, I alone am supreme!"
They froze, staring at each other.
"Hey! That was my line!"
"Shut it, Suguru, you sounded lame!"
"You two totally copied me!"
"That epic line's too cool for you sleazy punks!"
