I really want to see you. I'll be waiting at our favorite place.
That was the second message.
Adam had ignored the first.
He was married now. Truly married. To Sofia. To the only woman who had stayed when the rest of the world gave him every reason to close himself off. She wore his ring. Shared his name. And in just a few weeks, they were set to have a second wedding—a ceremony that would be intimate, real, and for them alone.
He should've ignored this one too.
But he didn't.
Because pain doesn't stay buried just because you're happy. Some wounds don't close. Some ghosts never stop knocking.
And so... he said yes.
Now, as he stood at the top of the hill they once called theirs, Adam felt that ghost wrap around his lungs. This place still smelled like her. Like pine and wildflowers and a thousand summer nights that once made him believe in forever.
And there she was.
Natalia.
