Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

 ||Rosie's POV||

"Rosie, do you really have to leave?" My father asked as he stood at the corner of my room watching me pack my things. "We could find some other solutions here."

"Yes, my dear… please listen to your father. We can work harder and make a good living for the baby. You don't have to run like this… what do you want us to do without you?"

My heart shattered at her words. I stopped what I was doing and took her hands. "Mother, I can assure you that there is no other way. Father, there is simply no other solution…"

"But you told us they don't know about this. What is the worse that could happen?" My father insisted.

"What if they both come knocking?" I asked, already visualizing the horrific scene. "Father, I would never wish for such embarrassment for you. No, please just let me go. Once I settled down, you may even come and stay with me… I am sure we would be fine."

My mother hugged me tight not wanting to let me go. But eventually, my father understood. He slowly pried my mother off and gently comforted her as they both watched me leave in the dead of the night.

I had no idea where I would go, but I just knew that it had to be far away. A place where neither Austin nor Damian could ever find me.

I walked for as far as I could and rested at the side of an old building. When morning came, I rented a car and drove away from town. I didn't want to ride a bus or use a plane because everything would be recorded and my whereabouts could be found if someone decided to track me down.

I passed so many packs but decided to settle in the enemy pack of Red Moon, just to reduce my chances of being found. This pack was the Crescent Moon pack.

It was a small pack with warm people and a lively town. With the money I had, I rented a nice house and decided to start a business to help me keep my finances in check.

I had a little space at the ground floor of the house and I decided to convert it into a bakery and cafe.

While the work for the conversion was ongoing, I registered with the pack's doctor and the woman kindly smiled at me after my consultation.

"Miss Rosie, you are going to be having twins!"

My heart jumped in both excitement and fear. I had no idea how to take care of one child and knowing that I was going to have two, made it even more overwhelming.

But it also made me more determined to make more money.

"Thank you… that's great." I mumbled as I took my results from her.

I could see the questions in her eyes but unlike Susan, she respected my privacy and barely smiled at me before letting me go.

Once I got home, I doubled up the conversation work at the cafe and soon it was opened for business.

Everything was finally starting to look promising, except, I didn't get any customers ever since I opened up.

I was almost falling into depression as my money was slowly reducing and thoughts of what to feed my children made it even worse.

But I refused to give up. I kept opening the cafe with a smile on my face and sat at the counter hoping for a change. Yet nothing happened.

On one of those days, I was starting to pack up when the front bell suddenly rang and a tall handsome man stepped in.

"I am sorry, are you closing already? I was dying for some cupcakes…"

His smooth calming voice stole my breath away and it took a couple of seconds before I realized that I had finally gotten a customer.

"Yes sure!" I jumped, hurrying to serve him.

"By the way, my name is Harry… you must be the new damsel in the pack." He introduced himself and the rest they say was history.

Harry and I became very good friends. His genuine love for my pastries made him invite even more of his friends which in turn helped my business to pick up.

He organised parties and meetings with his family too, gradually turning my little cafe into a major hub in the pack. So much so that even his friends began to think of me as his mate.

And Harry, he didn't mind. He simply took care of me, enjoying our friendship as we lived through each day. He never asked about my past or how I got pregnant, he just genuinely supported me through every storm like family.

When the time for my delivery finally came, it was his mother who stayed by my side in the hospital.

"You'll doing great, Rosie. Keep pushing…" she whispered as I fought through the pain of labour.

"I need you to give me one big push." The kind doctor called above Harry's mum's voice.

Clutching her hands, I pushed with all my might, fearing that I would definitely lose my life but the goddess showed me mercy.

Seconds later, the sounds of the babies wails filled the room and the nurses began to congratulate me.

"You did so well…" they said and Harry's mum couldn't even control her excitement.

"They are so handsome! Awww so cute!"

Despite the fatigue I felt, I stretched my hands towards her and she gently placed the two boys on my chest.

Tears brimmed in my eyes as I looked at their faces. Truly they were handsome but what made me cry was more of a disappointment.

I couldn't tell who they belonged to. They both had my green eyes and no other feature that could expressly help me determine if they were from Austin or Damian.

"Why are you having that sad look?" The doctor asked as if she had read my mind. "You have just delivered two bouncing babies. That is no small feat. You should be joyful!"

I small smile managed to form on my face but I couldn't ignore the strange feeling inside my chest. It was like an anxiety but painfully pricking at me, as if trying to warn me of something…

I was just starting to ignore it though when the door to the ward suddenly opened and a new nurse popped her head inside.

"Sorry to bother you, ma'am, but the father of the children is here." She announced and my heart stopped beating.
