POV: Koi Uchiha
I was sleeping.
I don't remember dreaming about anything—just the warmth of the blankets and the quiet sound of the wind against the window. Everything felt safe. Normal. Until—
Bang!
The door to my room burst open, and I jolted awake. My eyes snapped open to see my dad, already dressed in his black gear. His bird-like mask was clipped to his side, and his sword rested against his hip. His black hoodie fluttered a little as the wind from the open door swept in. On his arm was a weird headband—the one with the strange leaf-looking symbol and a slash cutting through it.
"Dad?" I rubbed my eyes and sat up in bed. "What's wrong?"
He didn't smile.
"Get up. Now. Pack your things—we're leaving."
My heart started beating really fast. Something about his voice told me this wasn't a joke.
"W-Why?" I asked, sliding off my bed and grabbing my bag.
"No time," he said quickly, already moving to help me gather my stuff. "Just trust me, Koi."
I stuffed my bag with clothes. My hands were shaky. I grabbed the golden necklace with the little family photo inside—the one I always kept on my dresser. I fastened it around my neck. Then I tied the black kunai they gave me on my fifth birthday to my waist. Lastly, I threw on the black cloak with the Uchiha fan on the back and slid on my boots.
When I rushed out the room, my mom was waiting. She was dressed just like Dad, her eyes sharp, focused. But I saw fear too—just for a second. She scooped me up into her arms like I weighed nothing.
"How much time do we have?" she asked my dad.
"Not much," he replied, his sword already drawn.
We were out the door in seconds, snow crunching under our feet as we darted through the village and straight into the trees. Cold air whipped past my face. I buried my head into Mom's chest as they ran.
"What's happening?" I asked, my voice trembling.
"There are bad people coming," Mom answered quietly.
"Why?"
She hesitated. "Because our eyes… our eyes are special. And some people… want to take them."
I blinked, confused. "But… why would they want our eyes?"
She didn't answer that time. Her grip on me just got tighter.
We ran for what felt like forever. The forest got darker. Colder. Then—
Dad stopped.
Mom skidded to a halt beside him, still holding me. I could hear the sound of footsteps behind us—lots of them. Shadows emerged from the trees. Twenty people. All wearing masks shaped like animals. All silent. All dangerous.
"Surrender," one of them said. His voice was calm. Cold. "We'll take the boy and leave the two of you alive… if you cooperate."
Dad stepped forward and drew his sword slowly. The metal hissed as it left its sheath.
Mom set me down gently, kissed the top of my head, and stepped beside him, drawing her own blade.
"No," Dad said.
One of the masked men raised his hand. "Kill them. Take the child."
Suddenly, the air changed.
I felt it. Heavy… like it was hard to breathe. My knees wobbled. It was pressure—chakra, I think. My mom and dad's.
I looked up.
Their eyes…
Red. Bright red. With black shapes swirling inside—three tomoe in perfect circles. The Sharingan.
It was the most beautiful, terrifying thing I had ever seen.
And then—boom—my dad vanished.
In the blink of an eye, he appeared in front of one of the men and sliced his sword clean across his chest. Blood sprayed across the snow. The man fell, unmoving.
It was the first time I saw my dad kill someone.
Chaos exploded around me.
Swords clanged. Jutsu lit up the night.
One man formed hand seals—Lightning Style: Electric Wave! A huge arc of lightning flew toward my mom. She flickered and vanished. Substitution jutsu.
She reappeared behind him. Genjutsu. He froze for a second, long enough for her sword to find his neck.
Another man attacked Dad with a water-style jutsu—Water Dragon! The huge serpent of water roared, but Dad raised a wall of earth, blocking it just in time. Earth Style: Earth Wall!
He jumped over it—Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu! A huge ball of flame launched toward two attackers, consuming them in fire and smoke. Screams filled the forest.
But there were too many.
One masked enemy threw three kunai at Mom. She jumped, flipped, and created three clones—Shadow Clone Jutsu! The clones scattered, drawing away several enemies. Then she weaved more signs—Water Style: Great Waterfall Jutsu! A torrent of water slammed down from above, washing away four of them in an instant.
Dad fought with sword and jutsu. Fire surrounded him, burning and blinding. He ducked under a blade, countered with his own, and turned—Substitution! One of the masked men stabbed a log, confused.
Another man charged at me. I couldn't move—I was frozen. But Mom appeared in front of me and stabbed him through the stomach. I saw the fear in his eyes before he dropped.
It went on like that.
Blood. Fire. Water. Lightning. Screams.
The forest felt like a battlefield.
Then I saw it—Dad was surrounded.
Four of them at once.
He fought hard. Kicked one away. Slashed another. But one stabbed him in the back. Then another. Then two more.
"No!" I screamed.
Dad turned to me, blood spilling from his mouth. His sword dropped. He fell to one knee.
He looked at me one last time.
"Run," he whispered.
Then he fell forward.
I couldn't breathe. My chest felt tight. My legs wouldn't move.
"Dad…"
Mom screamed and ran to him. But he was already gone. She turned, her face twisted in rage and pain.
She grabbed me, lifting me into her arms. I was too shocked to speak. Too broken to cry.
She ran. Fast. Faster than before.
Kunai whizzed past us. One hit her leg. Another grazed her side. She kept running.
"Mom…" I finally sobbed. "Dad's… dad's gone…"
She looked at me.
Her eyes… they weren't red with tomoe anymore.
They were different.
They looked like a flower. A spinning, glowing pattern.
A new kind of Sharingan.
Tears streamed down her face. Blood soaked her arm. But she held me tight.
Behind us, voices screamed. The masked men chased us. But she didn't stop.
I buried my face into her shoulder.
I didn't want to see anything anymore.
Not the blood.
Not the fire.
Not the pain.
But I saw it all anyway.
And in that moment… my eyes burned.
Not from tears.
From power.
My vision sharpened. The world looked clearer… deeper. Like I could see everything at once.
I looked down at the reflection in a broken kunai lodged in a tree.
My eyes… had changed.
Red. Bright red.
With two tomoe spinning in each one.
