“I do have somewhere to go,” Liliette declared stubbornly, her voice carrying a note of defiance.
“To your brother in Cadis? You were adamant about not seeing him when he visited you several days in a row,” Vlad countered. His relaxed demeanor made it clear that he was in control, no matter how much she resisted.
Liliette felt a sting in her eyes and nose, her anger unraveling into sorrow. Dandelion had visited her so many times since that day that she had lost count. Each time, she had sent him away, swallowing the bitter taste of regret. And Vlad had witnessed it all.
