Chapter 15
Fog
The dazzling spring sun cast golden light across the cream-colored four-horse carriage as it rolled into the garden. Its polished surface gleamed under the clear sky, reflecting the vibrant greenery around it. As the carriage came to a stop, a window on the third floor of the marble mansion flew open.
“Liliette!”
Dandelion leaned out, smiling and waving enthusiastically. His silver hair shimmered like spun silk in the sunlight, almost blinding in its brilliance. His skin, smooth and pale as porcelain, showed no sign of the bruises or swelling that had marred it before.
Johanna stepped forward to escort Liliette as she descended gracefully from the carriage.
“Dame Johanna, please ensure the mansion is cleared of servants. I need to speak with my brother alone,” Liliette instructed.
Johanna hesitated. “My lady, His Lordship—”
“Wait outside the mansion,” Liliette interrupted. Her tone left no room for argument, and Johanna acquiesced with a small bow.
