Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: Raised a Fat Pig

In this lifetime, the Seven Monsters of Shrek were destined not to be blessed with any Immortal-grade treasures. The origin of the Ice-Fire Two Poles Eye was already tied to the two great soul kings of Huo Yuhao, and the Asura God would never allow this place to become a chance for his own precious ones to grow stronger.

Huo Yuhao was just unsure what kind of "cheats" the Asura God might throw at them—and he was quite curious to find out.

Blue Electric Tyrannosaurus Clan

Yu Yuanzhen finished transmitting his skill, retracting his palm. Yu Xiaogang also snapped out of his cultivation trance.

This training session still hadn't brought a breakthrough. Yu Xiaogang anxiously asked:

"Father, I've been stuck at level 29 for so long. When will I finally break through to Soul Sovereign so I can hunt for another soul ring?"

Yu Yuanzhen replied dismissively, "You actually have to ask your father when you'll breakthrough?"

"Isn't that how it is?" Yu Xiaogang was used to his father guiding his cultivation. Every time he was about to break through, his father would sense it before he did.

"Who knows you better than yourself?" Yu Yuanzhen countered. "Tell me, do you even know when you'll break through level 29?"

Yu Xiaogang thought carefully about himself for a long moment before shaking his head, "I don't know."

Yu Yuanzhen was speechless.

"Enough. Go back. Don't get in my way," Yu Yuanzhen said impatiently, shooing him away.

A Few Days Later

Yu Xiaogang walked down the sect's main road, feeling proud. Compared to the hopeless soul master he was over ten years ago, he was now a bona fide level 29 Great Soul Master.

"With innate 0.5 soul power, cultivating into a Great Soul Master, plus two century-old soul rings—that's probably unique throughout history. I guess I am some kind of genius, aren't I?" Yu Xiaogang basked in self-praise. "Everything I have achieved is through my iron will and proper methods. There's no such thing as a useless soul beast—only useless soul masters. Even if my talent isn't the best, as long as I work harder than others, I can become a Soul Master. If onefold effort isn't enough, then a hundredfold. If a hundredfold isn't enough, then two hundredfold. One day, I will reach the pinnacle of Douluo Continent."

He was full of confidence about his future. The only flaw was that after reaching level 29 three years ago, he felt like he'd hit a wall—progress had stalled completely.

Yu Xiaogang had repeatedly asked Yu Yuanzhen when he'd breakthrough, only to be blacklisted and kicked out of the training room.

He believed the reasons were lack of resources and his father's inadequate support.

The core disciples' triple resource allocation wasn't enough—he thought it should be fivefold or tenfold. His father was only willing to spend two hours a day with two layers of soul power to help him cultivate, which was simply insufficient. It should have been at least four layers and four hours.

Had it been done sooner, Yu Xiaogang would have been a Soul Sovereign—or at least a Soul King—long ago.

It was infuriating that his father was holding back his cultivation. Even worse, recently his father had stopped coming to pass on skills and cultivate with him altogether.

Did his father no longer care about his Golden Sacred Dragon bloodline? Did he not realize Yu Xiaogang was the Blue Electric Tyrannosaurus Clan's future? Once his soul beast evolved into the Golden Sacred Dragon, he would elevate the clan to unprecedented heights.

The more Yu Xiaogang thought about it, the angrier he got. He decided he needed to confront his father seriously.

Sneaking quietly, Yu Xiaogang arrived at the clan leader's council chamber and prepared to knock—but he overheard a conversation inside between his father and uncle Yu Luomian.

"Big brother, the facts prove your choice back then was wrong," Yu Luomian said. "Yu Xiaogang consumes triple the resources of a core disciple every month. That same resource, given to any other talented disciple in the sect, could have laid a solid foundation for four or five future Soul Douluos."

He continued, "For over a decade you've been spending soul power transmitting skills to Yu Xiaogang. Ten years ago, you were a level 93 Title Douluo; now, you're still a level 93 Title Douluo. If you had instead used that soul power to push past your own bottleneck, you wouldn't be a Super Douluo yet, but I guarantee your strength would be at least level 95 by now. Level 95 Super Douluo—that would have done wonders for our sect's prestige. But all those resources have been drained by Yu Xiaogang—what have we gotten in return?"

"A level 29 Great Soul Master with two soul skills—and those two soul skills are just laughable nonsense. It's an embarrassment."

Yu Yuanzhen looked embarrassed and said, "You know when Xiaogang's soul beast awakened, we could see his original mutation was towards the Golden Sacred Dragon, so—"

"So you hoped to cultivate him until he evolved into the Golden Sacred Dragon as his strength improved, right?" Yu Luomian asked.

Yu Yuanzhen nodded.

"If we really could produce a soul master with the Golden Sacred Dragon soul beast, the resource investment would be worth it. A Title Douluo with the Super Soul Golden Sacred Dragon would bring a hundred years of glory to our sect, just like Tang Chen did for Haotian Sect," Yu Luomian sneered. "But has Yu Xiaogang done that?"

"Three years ago, he already hit level 29. You've been transmitting skills to him for so long; you should know the real reason he's stalled. Level 29 is the limit for this useless Yu Xiaogang."

"I remember the choice you gave him: become a dragon or a pig, right? He shamelessly chose to be a dragon. So, how's that working out for him?"

Yu Luomian's words brought back memories for Yu Yuanzhen. Back then, he gave Yu Xiaogang that choice. If Yu Xiaogang gave up on himself, he wouldn't have wasted resources on him. But if Yu Xiaogang had the will to transform into a dragon, Yu Yuanzhen would have done everything he could to help.

At the time, he was encouraged by Yu Xiaogang's choice, but after all these years, the dragon never came—only a fattened pig. Yu Yuanzhen had poured countless resources and decades of soul power cultivation into his son, only to raise a level 29 Great Soul Master who only knows how to fart as a soul skill.

Was it worth it? Was it really?

Faced with Yu Luomian's accusations, Yu Yuanzhen said nothing to defend his son, but his disappointed expression said it all.
