To be read after "Mystery Meat 5"
You know, it must have started back in mid-September. That's when Wes noticed a change in a nerd named Danny Fenton. Danny was Dash's favorite punching bag, so of course all of the jocks knew him, and knew to avoid him. Because of this, Wes didn't interact with the kid. But everyone noticed when Danny started dropping beakers and losing his pants. And everyone laughed.
Wes didn't laugh. He noticed. There was something off about Danny, and not just his clumsiness. It was like his aura changed, though Wes didn't believe auras were a thing. Maybe they weren't. Maybe they were. If Wes could believe in Bigfoot, he could believe in auras. Danny sure seemed to exude something different than he did at the start of the school year.
There was something else different about Danny. Wes was big into photography, and whenever Danny was in a picture–usually in the background–he was always blurry. Not that blurry, but enough that Wes could see.
"You were probably shaking when you took the picture," his twin brother Kyle said when Wes showed him.
"None of the other people in the picture are blurry!" Wes protested. "It's just Fenton!"
"Maybe your camera got a smudge on it," Kyle explained away. "No big deal."
Kyle never believed Wes. He was too into his music to care about other things. Their big brother Eas wasn't much help either.
"So what if the nerd looks weird?" Eas asked and walked away without looking at the picture.
That left Wes's parents, but he wasn't about to tell them. They never believed him, either. They thought Wes was immature for his age, just playing pretend. No, there was no point in talking to them.
So Wes was alone in believing Danny had changed. (He had no friends because everyone thought he was weird.) And so what if Danny changed? He was still a nerd who still got beaten up by Dash. Wes didn't need to concern himself with the kid. He was a jock, after all. He had basketball to occupy his mind.
That is, until a crazy meat monster attacked the school. Wes ran like everyone else. Then he got out his camera. He wished he didn't have to store it in his locker. Luckily, the fight was still going when he came back. Yes, a fight. A black and white thing was fighting the meat monster. It looked like a person, except they had a tail instead of legs. The person had white hair, glowing green eyes, and wore a black and white jumpsuit, complete with gloves. Something about the person seemed familiar… Wes took a bunch of pictures to examine later.
When he developed the film, however, both the meat monster and the person were blurry. Much more than Danny Fenton ever was. The only thing about them in sharp focus was their eyes. Glowing eyes. Red eyes for the meat monster, green eyes for the person. What did it mean?
