Cherreads

Chapter 14 - 14

The Red Cloak -Joan could only cry behind the door. He felt guilty toward Levan, but now her own life was in danger.

"Why did I go into Sena's room that day? I should've just waited for Jio to come home."

It all started when he accidentally entered Sena's room to borrow a charger. But instead, Joan discovered a terrifying plan—Sena's carefully crafted scheme of terror.

That afternoon, he asked Sena to meet at a café, making sure him friend would be close by. Joan then told Sena to head home first so he could secretly follow him. According to plan, Joan attacked Sena on the way home and managed to drag him to an abandoned warehouse. However, Joan had forgotten one crucial detail: Sena knew self-defense. Though he succeeded in capturing him, Sena easily turned the tables. In the end, it was Joan who ended up tied to a chair.

"Let me go!" Joan screamed.

"After attacking me, you want me to let you go?" Sena laughed.

"Why are you trying to get revenge on all of us?" Joan asked.

"My target is just Arkhan and your father. But maybe I'll take you and Jio as hostages," Sena replied.

"What did we ever do to you?" Joan demanded.

"This started with your father hiring a hitman to kill my cousin. My cousin had a lot of evidence on your father's crimes. So your dad chose to silence him," Sena explained.

"Then just take revenge on my father!" Joan snapped.

"I will. But first, I want to deal with the hitman—Arkhan," Sena said coldly.

Joan's eyes widened in shock.

"Arkhan? That's impossible..."

Sena pulled out her cousin's notebook, filled with details about a contract killer organization. Arkhan's name was listed among the members.

"My cousin described the man who followed him. The description matches Arkhan exactly," Sena said.

"H-he's not a killer..." Joan whispered.

"You didn't even know he was part of a hitman network," Sena mocked.

Sena put the notebook back into her bag.

"You planning to kill me now?" Joan asked in despair.

Sena paused, then asked, "Earlier you said I could get revenge on your father. Do you hate him?"

"I... I do. I hate him. And Jio," Joan admitted.

"Wow, interesting. You hate your own family," Sena sneered.

"My father never saw me as his child—just because I was born from another woman," Joan muttered.

"So you and Jio share the same father but different mothers?" Sena clarified.

"Yeah. But Dad could never move on from his first wife, the one who passed away. He only cares about Jio," Joan said bitterly.

"Why do you hate Jio, though? He's always cared about you. He doesn't seem to mind at all that you're only half-siblings," Sena said.

"I'm jealous. He always got special treatment. I worked hard at the company so I could be Dad's successor, but he still wants to give it all to Jio," Joan confessed.

"Okay then. How about you help me?" Sena offered.

"Help you? N-no way," Joan refused.

Sena grinned and leaned in close to Joan's face.

"I'll spare your life. Plus, you get a chance to take revenge on Jio and your father."

Joan stared at Sena, terrified. He wanted to say no, but it seemed he had no other choice.

"F-fine. I'll help you..."

Sena smiled, then beat Joan until he passed out. When Joan woke up, he was in a room, him wounds tended by Sena.

"Everyone thinks you're dead now, so no need to go back. Just stay here," Sena said casually.

"What are you talking about? I'm not dead!" Joan snapped.

"I killed someone else, dumped the body in the warehouse, and before burning it, I planted your belongings there," Sena explained calmly.

Joan was utterly shocked by what he heard.

"I'm nice, aren't I?" Sena said with a sweet smile.
