Chapter 89 - Chapter 89

"Darkrai, don't be impulsive!"

Riku immediately stopped Darkrai.

He was joking.

They were currently in the alternate dimension created by Dialga and Palkia, and Darkrai, for the sake of revenge, probably had the determination to fight to the death.

But Riku was still young and had a bright future ahead of him.

How could he willingly languish in an unknown alternate dimension?

"Master, didn't you promise to help me get revenge?"

Darkrai, who had previously been calling Riku a great being, now addressed him as Master. However, seeing Riku actually stop him, Darkrai's tone was a bit dissatisfied.

"I did say I'd help you get revenge, but I didn't say now!" Riku said speechlessly.

"Don't you think about where we are? We're currently in an alternate dimension created by Dialga and Palkia. With a single thought, those two legendary Pokémon could trap us here forever."

"You probably don't need to eat much, but I have no food or water. I'd probably die in three days."

"Master, rest assured, I have the confidence to break this alternate dimension," Darkrai said firmly.

"Although Dialga and Palkia are strong, they haven't reached the point where an alternate dimension can trap me."

"Forget it," Riku shook his head.

"Even if you possess a legendary title, you're only a tier 2 legendary Pokémon."

"Against two Tier 1 legendary Pokémon working together, you have absolutely no chance of winning. This isn't called being a coward; it's called being wise."

Riku was truly helpless.

He hadn't figured out the situation regarding Darkrai's parents and the two legendary Pokémon before him, nor did he know who was right and who was wrong. Coupled with the vast difference in strength, how could Riku let Darkrai act rashly?

"Darkrai, I sense a familiar aura from you."

After a long while, Dialga and Palkia slowly spoke.

"What was your relationship with that Darkrai from back then?"

"He was my ancestor!" Darkrai didn't hide anything.

"I came to Eterna City this time to seek revenge on you."

"You just wait."

"Although I am not your opponent now, one day, I will repay you all the pain my ancestor suffered!"

Whoa!

What was Darkrai doing again?

Those words sounded way too melodramatic. Did it think it was the protagonist of some novel where the underdog rises up after enduring hardship?

If it wanted revenge, couldn't it be a bit more patient and act tough only when it had the strength?

Sigh…

If there's time in the future, I have to tell this guy Darkrai the story of Goujian enduring humiliation to achieve his goals, lest it gets hot-headed and runs off to seek revenge and die.

"Alright."

Unexpectedly, Dialga and Palkia actually nodded in agreement:

"We will wait for you, until you have the strength to take revenge."

"Regarding the passing of your ancestor, we bear responsibility and have always felt remorse."

"You killed my ancestor, and a 'we bear responsibility' and a 'we feel remorse' is all you have to say?" Darkrai didn't accept this explanation.

Looking at Darkrai's insistence, Riku had a terrible headache.

Saying such things when one has enough strength is called having an attitude.

Saying such things when one doesn't have enough strength is called courting death.

In front of two tier 1 legendary Pokémon, Darkrai's behavior was truly a bit brainless.

However, Riku didn't say anything.

Having seen that Dialga and Palkia had no intention of harming Darkrai, Riku decided to let Darkrai vent. As its master, Riku didn't want to suppress Darkrai's emotions.

Maybe scolding them would be healthier.

"We will give you corresponding compensation."

Dialga and Palkia pondered for a long time, and finally seemed to make a difficult decision.

Just as Darkrai was about to scoff and refuse,

the two legendary Pokémon suddenly shone brightly.

Just as Riku worried if Darkrai was in danger, two beams of blue light instantly entered Darkrai's body.

Just as he was about to question Dialga and Palkia about what they were doing, the voices of the two primary legendary Pokémon suddenly sounded in Riku's mind:

"Powerful human."

"We entrust little Darkrai to you."

"Just now, we infused our divine radiance and the remaining laws from Darkrai's passing five years ago into little Darkrai's body."

"Given time, reaching the level of a tier 2 legendary Pokémon will be no problem, and there's even a possibility of advancing to a tier 1 legendary Pokémon."

"We are going to sleep."

"Goodbye."

...

In a daze, Riku didn't even know what had happened before he passed out.

"Riku, why are you here?"

"Wake up... wake up..."

Feeling someone gently shaking him, Riku's eyes gradually opened.

When he saw Cynthia with her eyes red-rimmed, looking at him with a worried expression, Riku was slightly stunned before becoming greatly alarmed.

He knew that Dialga and Palkia had sent him out of the alternate dimension.

This should have been a happy thing.

But at that time, Riku was with Darkrai.

Now that Cynthia had found him, didn't that mean...

"Riku, what's wrong?"

"Don't scare me!" Cynthia was extremely worried.

Earlier, when the Lake Guardians used Explosion, Cynthia had pulled Riku behind Metagross, but unexpectedly, at the moment of the explosion, Riku had actually grabbed her and pushed her down.

This action instantly struck Cynthia's heart.

However, what Cynthia never expected was that the imagined massive explosion would suddenly disappear without a trace. Also disappearing were Riku, who had been pressing down on her, and the replica Lake Guardians.

After searching for a long time and finding that Riku was really gone, a worried Cynthia immediately attacked Cyrus and Charon, thoroughly dealing with everyone in Team Galactic. Cynthia and Metagross had been searching for Riku in the Spear Pillar.

Fortunately, heaven didn't fail those who had a heart. An hour later, Cynthia finally found Riku at the top of the tower.

"I'm fine," Riku replied, quietly reaching for his waist. He found that the Ultra Ball had been recalled at some point, and Darkrai was clearly still inside.

Tentatively calling out in his mind a few times and finding that Darkrai didn't respond, Riku guessed that Darkrai was probably absorbing the compensation it had received.

"Can you walk?" Seeing that Riku seemed to be in good spirits, Cynthia asked uneasily:

"After all, this is the top of the Spear Pillar. Normally, Eterna City wouldn't allow strangers to come up here."

"Yes, let's leave first," Riku nodded, then patted Metagross's head and recalled it to its Poké Ball before leaving the Spear Pillar.

"Did you call the police?" At the entrance of Eterna City, seeing more than a dozen police cars parked outside, Riku immediately asked.

"Mm-hmm," Cynthia nodded:

"It's time for those trash from Team Galactic to face the law."

"Then why didn't you call the police before?" Riku asked.

"There was no way," Cynthia sighed.

"If I hadn't taken action, relying solely on the surrounding police force, there was really no way to capture all of Team Galactic in one fell swoop."

"That weak?" Riku was a bit surprised, but he quickly understood.

This was a world where one could capture Pokémon, and seeing how well organizations like Team Galactic and Team Rocket could thrive, it was clear that the Pokémon world was indeed a bit chaotic.

Probably even if Team Galactic was arrested, they could be released before long.

"Let's go, there's nothing to see," Cynthia smiled:

"The residents of Eterna City will probably return to the town soon after hearing the news."

"Being displaced for a month must have been tough."

When not in battle and not facing evil forces like Team Galactic, Cynthia was still a very considerate and gentle woman.

Riku smiled and followed her to the research lab without saying anything.

After giving Professor Rowan a report, Cynthia handed Riku a black bank card and a beautiful metal box.

"What's the meaning of this?" Riku was taken aback.

"This is your reward for this mission," Cynthia smiled

"Earlier, only saying I'd help you get the Pokédex was just to test your character."

"Not bad."

"So these rewards are what you deserve."

Since it was a reward, Riku naturally accepted it without hesitation.

He first opened the metal box and found that it actually contained six Poké Balls.

The colors of these six Poké Balls were all different, and Riku was confused for a moment.

"These are special Poké Balls customized according to Pokémon types," Professor Rowan explained:

"For example, this blue wavy Dive Ball. Using it to capture underwater Pokémon has a much higher success rate than regular Poké Balls, about four times higher."

"There are such amazing Poké Balls?" Riku was surprised.

Then, after asking about the other five special Poké Balls, he picked up the black card and asked,

"Professor Rowan, Miss Cynthia, how much money is on this black bank card?"

"It's not like I'm very short of money."

"I'm just curious, really just curious."

Riku's words were a bit self-deceiving, but Professor Rowan and Cynthia not only didn't dislike it, but actually thought Riku was an honest person.

"Ten million," Cynthia smiled:

"There are ten million Poké Dollars in it. It's not much, but it's a small token of Professor Rowan's and my appreciation."

While Cynthia was speaking, Professor Rowan awkwardly touched his nose.

In fact, after completing this mission, the reward was only one million Poké Dollars.

Otherwise, Professor Rowan wouldn't have been so troubled and specially called the kind-hearted Cynthia back from the Kanto region.

In his opinion, only a Sinnoh Champion like Cynthia would be willing to do such a losing deal.

Now that Cynthia not only didn't receive a single Poké Dollar in reward but also added nine million of her own, Professor Rowan really felt bad.

"Not bad," Riku was ecstatic inside, but on the surface, he pretended to be nonchalant.

After all, in front of a beautiful and wealthy woman like Cynthia, it would be too embarrassing for Riku to look like he had never seen money before.

Afterward, the two went out for a meal and still stayed in the hotel's presidential suite that night.

---

Eleven o'clock at night.

Just as Riku finished washing up and was about to go to sleep, Cynthia, wearing a black nightgown, suddenly knocked on Riku's door.

Riku, thinking something good was about to happen, didn't expect Cynthia to just ask him if he was going back to the Orange Archipelago tomorrow.

He had been out for several days.

Riku certainly missed the Pokémon on his own island, so he nodded without hesitation.

What he didn't expect even more was that Cynthia didn't give him a sweet kiss or anything because he was going back.

Instead, she pulled Riku to the hotel's open-air balcony, and the two of them drank red wine, looked at the bright moonlight, and talked about their innermost thoughts all night...
