Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Going to School

Chen Cheng and An Yuan were both third-year high school students.

From 7 AM to 9 PM, six days a week, with only Sundays off—this kind of grueling schedule... and now she had to go through it again?!

To be honest, having to repeat senior year was probably a bigger blow than turning into a woman.

On the first night after her transmigration, Chen Cheng stayed up all night at her computer. Her eyes were bloodshot, but she didn't feel the slightest bit sleepy.

She sat curled up in her chair, one foot propped up, hugging her knee with a dead-inside expression. Her mind was filled with dread at the thought of going to school. Every now and then, she would glance at the clock, and as the minutes ticked by, she felt an increasing sense of doom—like a prisoner counting down to execution.

"Ten minutes…"

Chen Cheng anxiously closed the game, got up, and paced back and forth in her room. She glanced at the school uniform and underwear laid out on the bed and scratched the back of her head in frustration.

"What kind of messed-up situation is this? Why the hell did I have to turn into a woman?"

She had no memories of this world, but she could already imagine that, now as a girl, her social life would be completely different from before.

"Cheng Cheng~ Time to get up and eat!"

A little after six, a gentle knock sounded on the door as her mother called out.

"...Alright."

No matter how much she wanted to avoid it, she had to face reality.

Dragging her exhausted body, Chen Cheng struggled to put on her bra, fastened the clasps with difficulty, and slipped into her school uniform. With dead-fish eyes, she staggered out of her room.

"Why the hell are they this big…"

If only she were an A-cup, she might not even need to wear a bra. This feeling of being constricted was seriously uncomfortable.

At the sink, she looked up and met her own reflection in the mirror, letting out a sigh of despair.

The face staring back at her was stunningly beautiful—pure and delicate features, but with slightly upturned eyes that carried a seductive, foxy charm. Combined with her alluring figure, she practically had "homewrecker" written all over her.

It was the exact kind of face that could make men go crazy.

Putting on a pair of glasses dulled that dangerous charm, turning her into an obedient, quiet bookish girl.

"Meh."

She brushed her teeth and, toothbrush still in her mouth, walked into the bathroom without even bothering to close the door. She pulled down her pants and instinctively went to grab something.

But there was nothing there.

"...Huh?"

Even after a whole night, she still wasn't used to this body. She kept subconsciously thinking she was still a man.

It's a habit that has been going for twenty-seven years—how could it went away just like that?

By the time Chen Cheng arrived at the dining table, a bowl of stewed ribs and a plate of milk, eggs, and bread were already laid out.

Boiled eggs…

Her lips immediately pressed into a thin line. With an expression of disgust, she turned her head away. She hadn't even sat down yet, and she could already smell that awful eggy stench.

"You didn't even brush your hair. Hurry up and eat, or you'll be late for school."

Her mother picked up a horn comb from the table, walked behind her, and started smoothing out her messy, bird's-nest-like short hair.

"You didn't wash your hair last night, did you? It's so greasy! A girl shouldn't be so sloppy, If you don't want the egg, leave it. I'll eat it later."

She nagged, but her hands were gentle.

Chen Cheng swayed under the combing and grumbled, "Go easy, that hurts."

"That's what you get for not washing your hair."

Suddenly, the doorbell rang. Her mother paused, set down the comb, and walked toward the door, mumbling to herself, "Who could it be this early in the morning?"

Chen Cheng had a bad feeling about this. She peeked out from the dining room toward the door.

"Good morning, Auntie~"

"An Yuan? What are you doing here?"

"I came to walk Chen Cheng to school…"

Chen Cheng's mother glared at An Yuan with open hostility before slamming the door shut with a loud bang, making both Chen Cheng and An Yuan jump in surprise.

"Cheng Cheng, stay away from An Yuan."

Without hesitation, Chen Cheng nodded. "Yeah, I'm not even close with him."

Clearly, because of their different genders now, she and An Yuan were no longer sworn brothers. In fact, her mother was on high alert, guarding against him like he was some kind of predator, afraid that this punk might take advantage of her daughter.

Back in her past life, An Yuan had been the so-called "golden child from another family" in her mother's eyes, practically treated like an adopted son.

Well, well, well, look who's getting the short end of the stick now!

Chen Cheng suddenly felt an odd sense of satisfaction, as if she had finally gotten revenge for all the times her mother had compared her to An Yuan.

"I'm done eating!"

"You didn't finish your milk."

"No time, I'll be late for school!"

"Don't forget your allowance!"

Not wanting to keep An Yuan waiting, Chen Cheng grabbed her meal money, dashed into her room to snatch up her school bag, and rushed out the door.

The chilly morning air hit her face as soon as she stepped outside. There was no sign of An Yuan at the door anymore. Slipping into her white sneakers, she waved goodbye to her mom and shut the door behind her.

This was an old residential building from decades ago—run-down and shabby. Chen Cheng's family lived on the top floor, the seventh, and there was no elevator. The stairwell was covered in layers of advertisement stickers, along with the childish doodles she had drawn as a kid.

There had been talk about installing an elevator, but even after ten years, nothing had come of it.

By the time she reached the fourth floor, she finally spotted An Yuan.

He was sitting outside his door, playing on his phone. Hearing footsteps, he looked up, sighed, and said, "Your mom really doesn't like me, huh?"

"She even told me to stay away from you. Let's go."

"Wait!"

Before they could leave, a noise came from inside the apartment. An Yuan's mother suddenly rushed out, beaming, and shoved a handful of strawberries into Chen Cheng's arms.

"For the road! They're washed and ready to eat."

"???"

Chen Cheng and An Yuan exchanged confused glances.

"Take your time on the way to school. And if you need anything, just ask An Yuan for help—don't be shy. Don't listen to your mom's nonsense. An Yuan's got such great grades! If you hang around him more, maybe yours will improve too. You should come over and visit often!"

"Uh… Thanks, Auntie."

"No need to thank me!"

Being mentally twenty-seven, An Yuan immediately saw through his mother's real intentions. Rolling his eyes, he grabbed Chen Cheng and started heading downstairs.

Honestly, the Chen Cheng of this world was undeniably gorgeous, with an alluring figure that radiated an irresistible charm.

But no matter how attractive she was, An Yuan just couldn't bring himself to see his bro that way.

He glanced at Chen Cheng's cluelessly delighted expression—this idiot really had no idea what was going on, and she was actually happy about it.

"Auntie was way too nice just now," Chen Cheng said smugly. "I almost feel bad~"

"You should be more worried about school."

The smug grin instantly vanished from Chen Cheng's face. Her expression darkened, and she started muttering under her breath, "Don't wanna study… don't wanna study…"

The school wasn't far from their homes—a half-hour walk or just ten minutes by bike.

"You bring the storage room key?"

"Forgot! Should I go back and get it?"

"We'll be late. Just ride with me."

An Yuan quickened his pace toward the storage room, and Chen Cheng hurried after him in tiny quick steps. "Slow down, An Yuan! I'm shorter now, I can't keep up."

Chen Cheng had already been half a head shorter than An Yuan before, but now that her body was smaller, she only reached his chin.

"Okay."

An Yuan unlocked the storage room, rolled out his bicycle, and straddled it. Before he could even steady himself, Chen Cheng had already hopped onto the back seat, making the bike wobble dangerously.

"At least give me a heads-up before you get on!"

"Let's go!—Shit! Are you even capable of riding?!"

It had been years since An Yuan last rode a bike. As he pushed off, the handlebars wobbled uncontrollably, making Chen Cheng panic. She immediately wrapped her arms around his waist in a death grip.

"Don't kill me! Who knows if I'd get another chance to transmigrate?!"

"Stop screaming."

Luckily, Chen Cheng was light. After a few moments, An Yuan managed to steady the bike and smoothly rode into the designated lane.

Only then did he belatedly notice the soft curves pressed against his back. A faint, delicate fragrance surrounded him, sending a strange ripple through his mind… only to be followed by a wave of disgust.

Damn it. Not again!

This teenage body is way too sensitive.
