Chapter 14 - Question About Cultivation

'I hope the conflict between these two sects doesn't end up disturbing those of us living in this region,' Zhen thought.

He felt slightly uneasy and wondered if other games usually had plots like this—where a war between two major factions broke out right after the game had just started.

'Maybe it's better if I just focus on cultivating for now!'

He quickly decided to return to his inn, where his room rental hadn't expired yet since it hadn't even been 24 hours.

From now until noon, he felt confident that he could reach the Ninth Stage of the Qi Master Realm.

BANG!

Boom!

Just as he began cultivating, he couldn't help but be distracted by the occasional loud bangs and explosions in the distance.

There were no tremors felt, but the sounds were crystal clear.

"What kind of power could produce such sounds?" he wondered.

Fortunately, the sounds were very far from Spring City.

The city seemed fine—only the people looked anxious.

As long as everything was still okay, Zhen would continue cultivating.

His Qi increased little by little, but steadily.

Even though the explosions didn't stop, he no longer felt disturbed—he was actually getting used to them.

Several hours later, he finally opened his eyes with a bright smile.

DING!

(You have successfully broken through to the Ninth Stage of the Qi Master Realm. You gain 20 System Points!)

[Name: Xia Zhen]

[Cultivation: Ninth Stage of Qi Master Realm]

[Qi: 0/10,000]

[System Points: 122]

"Hmm, with this cultivation, it'll be easier for me to use the Sword Slash Technique," Zhen said as he felt his strength had grown significantly.

'System, how much does 1% comprehension of the Eternal Dragon Scripture cost?'

He asked this because he felt his understanding was reaching its limit.

He needed to improve his comprehension of the scripture so he could cultivate more easily.

(13 Points for 1% comprehension of Eternal Dragon Scripture. Meanwhile, Time Control Scripture and Space Dao Scripture each cost 14 Points for 1% comprehension!)

'So expensive!'

Zhen couldn't help but be shocked upon hearing the cost.

(If it's a technique, the price ranges from 1 to 9 Points, but for scriptures, it ranges from 3 to 15 Points depending on their power—and your three scriptures are among the highest tier!) the System explained.

'Well then, use as many of my System Points as possible to increase my comprehension of the Eternal Dragon Scripture!' Zhen commanded.

He couldn't increase his understanding of the other two scriptures yet due to the lack of points.

The Eternal Dragon Scripture was his focus since it had always been the strongest, and he had been using it to improve his cultivation—followed by the other two scriptures.

DING!

(You exchanged 117 System Points for 9% comprehension of the Eternal Dragon Scripture!)

(Your comprehension of the Eternal Dragon Scripture increased to 19%!)

(The form of Eternal Dragon Body increased to 19%!)

(Your Soul Power increased by 30 Points!)

[System Points: 7]

[Soul Power: 355]

[Bloodline: General]

[Scripture:

- Eternal Dragon Scripture (19%)]

"Hahaha!" Zhen couldn't contain his laughter as he found that he could now transform both his arms into dragon arms.

Of course, this greatly increased his combat power.

The transformation had even slightly spread to his chest.

"Will I eventually become a full dragon?" he wondered with curiosity, as he didn't really know what the final form of this scripture would be.

He looked at the clock and realized it was nearly time for work.

With no other choice, he was forced to log out, even though he wished he could stay in the game longer.

Unfortunately, his real-world job was more important—otherwise, he wouldn't receive his salary.

Back at home, he quickly changed into formal clothes.

Afterward, he finally left the house, hoping he wouldn't bump into anyone since this was also the time when people in the neighborhood usually stayed indoors.

However, it turned out there was still one neighbor passing in front of his house.

It was the neighbor who had seen him yesterday with Tang Xin.

When she looked at him, the woman suddenly chuckled.

"Hehehe, Zhen, I thought you weren't a real man, but I didn't expect you could charm a young rich girl," she said, not even giving him a chance to settle his nerves.

From the beginning, she had clearly misunderstood, and now she firmly believed in her assumptions.

Even if he explained that nothing had happened, Zhen worried that no one would believe him.

After all, Tang Xin hadn't just visited briefly—she had spent the night at his house.

Even someone with the purest mind would think something romantic had happened.

"Mrs. Mao, you're overthinking things," Zhen replied.

"Hey, you're already 30 years old—I didn't expect you to still be this shy," the woman said.

Zhen had no words left to say.

Thankfully, a taxi happened to be passing slowly in front of his house.

He quickly shouted to get it to stop and got in, asking the driver to take him to Shenzhen University.

Only once inside the taxi did he finally feel at ease.

Of course, he couldn't just relax.

He took out his laptop from his bag and began preparing today's lecture materials while waiting for the taxi to arrive at the university.

Shenzhen University was, of course, one of the top universities in the country and all of Asia—even the world.

It was a huge university with over 50,000 students, including many international students.

Its liveliness could be felt the moment one entered the campus.

In fact, the campus itself felt like it was a level ahead of the real world due to the number of robots roaming around—from trash-collecting robots to robots that provided directions.

Shenzhen was the leading city in technological advancement. That, of course, started with this university. Even the inventor of the first Virtual Glasses graduated from Shenzhen University.

Zhen stepped out of the taxi without much enthusiasm. He didn't really enjoy teaching, but since his expertise was history, it was hard to find a job other than teaching. At least he taught at a university and not a school.

Wherever he looked, he saw young students—some reading books, others checking their phones, and some even dating.

Some students were children of wealthy families, arriving at campus in their luxury cars.

Zhen didn't wander around or look for food, even though he hadn't had breakfast. After arriving, he went straight to his classroom.

With the university's focus on technology, the history department wasn't considered very important. It existed only because it had to—but was merely an accessory. His classroom was located at the far end of the university building.

When Zhen entered the class, he only found a few students already present, including Yan Zhu—but they were all playing virtual games, a scene Zhen had become quite used to.

Of course, he could force them to log out by cutting off the internet connection.

He did just that, and they began waking up simultaneously.

Seeing their lecturer enter, the students immediately straightened their backs, clearing their throats one by one.

Naturally, no one dared challenge the lecturer for interrupting them.

Zhen didn't show much expression. He connected his laptop to the projector on the front wall.

Then, he began teaching.

More students showed up as the class progressed—some even from other departments who happened to be interested in learning history.

"Mr. Xia, as a historian, do you think cultivation really existed in ancient times?" In the middle of the lecture, Zhen suddenly got a question from one of the students.

He couldn't help but be surprised to hear it, as no one had ever asked about cultivation in his history classes—despite the fact that he occasionally mentioned it but usually got responses dismissing it as nonsense.

He looked at the person who asked—it was a beautiful woman, surprisingly around his age.

The woman was wearing a long white coat which was a sign of a doctor.

She had black hair that was bun and white skin that was rather pale.

Her beauty was hard to compare to anyone else, as she had a natural aura of intelligence.

Zhen certainly knew who she was—they had entered the university in the same batch.

She was a PhD student in the medical department.

Since medical studies usually took longer, it wasn't strange that their PhD students were over 30 years old.

Her name was Lin Qingxue—a woman from a wealthy family that owned many private hospitals and companies producing medicine and medical equipment.

Her family was even wealthier than Tang Xin's.

She was very famous in the university.

The fact that she had come to his class already shocked Zhen, but now she was even bringing up the topic of cultivation.
