Akio's eyes were closed as she meditated in front of the statue of Goddess Amaterasu. Lyra rushed out of the room after hearing a giant explosion that shook the grounds of the shrine. Still in her old bones she could feel something was wrong.
It's why she decided to stay in the room, in the hands of the statue laid the book that she's been protecting for years. It wasn't an ordinary book, but one called a Grimore. Grimoire are important for a mage, allowing them to learn spells and gain power. Some mages can find them and others can inherit them from families.
Grimoires are not only representative, but it can teach the power of anyone who owned the grimoire. Even weak people who never used magic can find one and quickly become powerful. Not only that but a grimoire will transfer into a weapon that the user finds the most useful.
In the case of Akio, while not a true Uchian. She was able to use the grimoire of the Uchian which allowed her to save herself and her husband years ago from being hunted by people. Uchian had a power to control time and space without repercussions such as aging or death.
During the war between kingdoms they were quickly hunted down, and part of the peace treaty was moved. Thankfully Mercer kept an eye on them making sure they can live in relative peace.
Akio's plan was to put the legacy of the Uchians to rest by burning the grimoire for good. While it could come with its own protection, someone could unlock its secrets once again. She doesn't want to have Lyra have a bigger burden then she already does, so it's best that she burns and buries it with her son.
Rapid footsteps could be heard as the door hurriedly slid open to the room.
"Lady Akio we must go", a female voice rushed out. Breathing hard as she leaned warily on the door.
Akio opened her eyes with confusion on her face as turned to face the door. "What's wrong Kim?"She questioned.
"There is a very strong enemy flying over the shrine we have-", Kim began as she tugged on Akio's sleeve trying to rush her to stand up.
BANG!
The top of the church blew up, cutting off Kim's words as she dove, covering Akio's body from the debris. From the entrance a figure flapped its wings slowly floating down from the sky. The man was wearing a stylish suit, with a rugged grin on his face as he looked at the two of them.
"Now now darlings whats the rush", interrupted the man as landed ground. Crushing the head of Amaterasu beneath his foot.
Kim quickly got up trying to protect Akio from the man. She quickly tried to use a spell, but before the words came out he grabbed by her throat. Moving faster than she could even track.
"I remember you, the little summoner, yes.", the man stated, his voice smooth as if almost hypnotic. "So weak, but I don't step on every ant I see. I won't kill you here if you don't stand in my way."
Smelling her neck he breathed in deeply but then decided against biting her. Throwing her body into the wall next to the broken shrine. The already fragile wall crumbling onto her body.
"Whoops, I guess I don't even know my own strength these days", the man chuckled as he crouched in front of Akio.
Akio sensing the danger looked up into the face of the man. The man looked normal but the feeling coming from him felt so evil. It made her feel almost sick how much destruction came off that man.
"Come on little lady, stand up.",said the man as he pulled her to feet. "Where are my manners ma'am allow me to introduce myself. The names Silas Vane though you may call me Silas for short.
Akio after getting to her feet looked at the man but didn't say anything. Seconds passed as frustration began to grow on his face, though he quickly covered it with a small smile.
"Fine don't answer me I already know who you are", Silas growled out. "The last Uchian!. Took me ages to find you so just do both a favor give me what I've come for and I'll let you live."
Akio spit in his face. "How dare you come in here and make demands of me, demon."
Silas whipped the spit from his face as smile began to wane. "Little lady my mama taught me manners so I won't just hurt. I'll ask nicely one more time, give me the damn grimoire or next I will kill your daughter."
"Please don't hurt her!", pleaded Akio as her face finally showed fear for the first time.
"Ahh so you do care about something so lets-", Silas stopped abruptly as he sniffed the air. "Oh the funny thing has just begun, come the little lady we got people to see."
Silas picked up Akio by her throat carrying her through the shrine. Akio tried to fight back but her strength was too strong for her. Breathing was labored as he tightened her hold. Thankfully Silas didn't know the grimoire he was looking for was buried on the broken statue in the room they just left.
