Cherreads

Chapter 3 - 5 years old

I was finally five years old, and things have been going great for me. I finally learned how to use my magic and finally control it without burning the mansion down to ash.

First off, the flames I used were pitch black and would literally burn anything and everything in its path. Problem was, I couldn't really control it, leading to many burned-down houses in the area.

Secondly, my brother and I finally learned to speak and walk. We didn't need the help of our servants to take a bath and wear clothes, though they still insist that they're the ones to bathe us and clothe us.

And finally, today was both our birthdays since we were both born on the same day. He was so excited to finally receive his grimoire and to finally meet Dad.

"Oh brother, today is so positively marvelous! We're finally receiving our very own grimoires and becoming a true part of the Goetia."

"Okay, chill dude, it's just a book," I said, not really caring while eating a chocolate fudge cake.

"Just a book!? Brother, it's not just a book. It's our birthright and responsibility as proud Goetic demons and being part of something bigger than ourselves," he said with enthusiasm.

"Okay, let's just get ready to meet Father. I'll be waiting for you in the living room."

I left the room and walked down this stupidly long hallway to the living room. God, I wish this place was a bit smaller.

Everything took at least a minute to reach, and I barely understand the basics of the teleportation spell to just teleport around the house so I don't have to walk anymore.

I finally arrived in the living room, and I sat down on the couch and began reading a book about magic theory.

It's been an hour. What's taking him so long?

He finally decided to show up, wearing his cute little crown and something close to royal clothes.

"Finally! What took you so long? I've been waiting for an hour."

"I'm really sorry, dear brother, but I simply must look perfect for our special day," he said while his eyes sparkled.

"Haa... Let's just go, dude."

We finally left and went inside the limo and rode for about two hours until we finally reached the main house and went inside.

As we walked along the path into the castle, I saw a small child picking some flowers and playing with a cat with one eye.

I decided to split up with Stolas since our meeting with Dad is separate and he wanted to speak with us alone, and instead of waiting around doing nothing, I decided to approach the girl in the garden.

"Um... hello there," I said, a bit nervous.

"Hi!! How are you? I'm Charlie!!" she said with way too much energy.

"Hi Charlie, I'm Stygian," I replied to her.

"Oh, are you the son of the bird guy in the castle?"

"Yeah, I'm one of his sons. I don't really know much about my other brothers. I only know about my twin brother, and he's really posh about everything."

"Oh, I never really had a brother or a sister."

"Lucky."

"Why is that lucky? I think having a big sister would be so awesome! Like, think about all the tea parties you could have and... and..."

"Are you okay?"

"I... don't want to talk about it."

"...That's fine if you don't want to talk about it."

She was crying a bit at this point but wiped the tears quickly.

"Do you wanna be friends? I mean, if you want."

"Really? I never had any friends before. My dad would always scare them away, and being a princess would usually stop them from even trying to approach me."

"Well, I'm a prince, and I don't mind if we became friends... I mean, if you want to."

"Ahhh!!! Yesyesyesyes!!! My first friend!! What do you want to do? Tag? Hide and seek? Ohh!!! Maybe tea parties!!!"

Charlie said while hugging me in a bear hug.

"Okay, okay, could you let go a bit? I can't breathe."

"Oh, sorry, sorry! I never had a real friend before. My only friends were Razzle and Dazzle."

"Okay, I don't know who they are, but at least you have me now, and we could hang out sometime."

"Really? Can we hang out now?"

"Not right now. I have to visit my dad."

"Oh... okay. But could we hang out tomorrow at my place? It's just here in the Pride Ring in Pentagram City."

"Okay, it's a date then. I'll be there tomorrow morning, and we can hang out all day."

"Yay!!" she said excitedly while hugging me again.

"Ahh... Yes, yes, but please don't break my spine."

"Sorry! It's just you're so fluffy and soft."

"Okay, anywa—" but before I could finish my sentence:

"Sir Stygian, your father is waiting for you," the butler said.

"Okay. Bye, Charlie. See you tomorrow then."

"Okay!! Bye!! See you tomorrow, Stygy!"

What kind of lame nickname is that? At least give me something cool.

I entered the castle and left Charlie.
