Chapter 49 - Episode 49

"Come to think of it, even the Duke of Babyloa seems to be worn out." Dominic handed me a letter.

I opened the letter with a nonchalant expression. It roughly read:

Meldenique. By now, you must have reflected. When will you return to your family? I will forgive you in particular. And is it true that you can use illusions? Did you become a wizard? Wasn't it that you couldn't use mana? Answer as soon as you see it.

"You're talking nonsense." I tore up the letter and threw it in the trash.

"Read this and relax." Dominic chided me lightly. This time, he handed me a newspaper article. The article seemed to have been written by a group of people who were dissatisfied with the Duke of Babeloa's monopoly.

Hildegard, Duchess of Babyloa, taking away the real power of the House of Babyloa?

When I saw the aggressive headline, I felt a chill. In the past, when Meldenique had run out of business, Madame Hildegard used gossip to manipulate public opinion about me.

'Now she is doing it herself.'

"It's truly a pity." I fluttered the newspaper with a sad expression on my face.

"Look at the article down there." Dominic said, winking at the bottom of the article.

Hot Keyword of the Month: 〈Mel's Stationery Store〉There is a person who has done something that no one else has thought of. This is the story of Young Lady, Duke Meldenique Babeloa, who founded 〈Mel's Stationery Shop〉 in front of the Academy.

Below it was an article about the 'candy in a happy dream' that I created.

"Whoa..." Happily, I was the one who became the most famous during the Petit Debutante Ball. I stretched out my legs and laughed contentedly.

'It was a perfect publicity period.'

From that night onwards, letters from ladies flew in. From "Is it true that you overcame the curse?" to letters expressing fear of Lady Hildegard, or simply "I want to buy stationery store items anonymously." It was a far-reaching event that historians would later call the "Meldenique Rebellion." People asked about the principle of mana amplification, and they said they would order a large amount of 'candy in a happy dream.'

'I think this is pretty much word-of-mouth.'

And if I had to pick one gem among them, it was definitely this: a prom invitation!

"You invited me to the ball." "Isn't that good?" "Normally, I'm a guest who isn't invited to balls."

With Sheria taking over the social world and Madame Hildegard's rise to power, I was completely isolated.

'It was normal for me to go to a ball that I wasn't invited to and cause a fuss.'

To my surprise, a curious lady invited me to the ball.

'But it's surprising. Isn't Babyloa scary?'

I read the invitation to the ball again.

Lady Meldenique Babeloa, I would like to invite you to the masquerade ball at our Supia Academy. Please come with a wonderful partner.- Moodsela Maxson Compensation.

My heart swelled. In fact, I had never thought about Supia Academy until now. They are quite conservative regardless of their age. However, seeing that the Maxon family had sent me an invitation, even with the watchful eyes of the Babeloas and Heshmans, they must have been somewhat favorable to me.

'I don't know. The Maxon family is an imperial family, so they can't care about the aristocratic Babeloas or Hassmans.'

Dominic glanced at the invitation and asked, "Where exactly is Supia Academy, that makes you so happy?"

"It's a prestigious women's academy." Supia Academy produced many outstanding female characters, which is why it was called one of the two most prestigious academies along with Maltend Academy. However, it is a closed and conservative place, so I thought it would be difficult to access.

'Maybe she will meet me at the ballroom and ask me for a request!'

I clenched my fists, remembering the rumor that Young Lady Moodsella liked unusual things.

"I have to go to this ball." "Have you decided?" "Hmph!"

I carefully picked up my quill and wrote a reply. Anyway, everything was going perfectly.

'If there is one problem...'

"There's a problem. I don't have a partner to go to the prom with." It means that there is no partner to go with me.

I looked at Dominic eagerly, wondering if he could help me, but he raised his hands with a determined expression and widened the distance between us.

"I can't dance." This meant he wouldn't go to the ball. In fact, I had been so focused on Dominic that I didn't even bother to ask him.

"Yes, you don't even have an identity yet... Don't dance, take a break." I fell face down on the table and rubbed my face. I searched through my head, but I really didn't have anyone suitable to participate in the ball with. Unfortunately, Meldenique was an isolated villain with no noble men to be close to. Lennox Hessmann, because he was crazy about the author.

'Should I use an escort service from the Errand Guild?'

It's a little out of place, but that's about it. As I pondered, I came up with another reason why I should attend the ball.

"Come to think of it, I think I can show that I've completely insulated myself from Lennox with this prom." "How?"

In the meantime, Meldenique continued to be obsessed with her fiancé, Lennox, even though he was uncomfortable. In the ballroom, Lennox was embarrassed by being disgraced even if he made eye contact with another Young Lady.

"We can't take Lennox Hessmann. I'll have to find a guy to go to the ball with me. Fortunately, prom partners aren't the only ones who can go."

"By the way, a prom is a ball, but my skills are the most important thing to get a commission." I summoned a demon who was skilled in Amish illusions... Such a lucky opportunity will never come again. Now you have to compete with your real skills.

I stared at the sword that Dominic had summoned. "That sword with demons in it, it's really like a treasure trove." It was like a treasure trove with various abilities.

"What exactly are those demons' abilities?" I asked, scanning my sword with a greedy look.

"I know as much as you know. I don't know what the other two demons will be like." Dominic was wary of me and replied slowly.

"Hmm..." In fact, Dominic doesn't know much about it. I scratched my head and looked at the magic sword. Whenever I see a long sword that doesn't vibrate at all, I have a black heart. A black heart that wants to collect all four demons and make them mine.

"Alchemy requires mana, and summoning demons also requires mana..." I sighed. Mana was constantly running into its limits.

'In the end, I think I have no choice but to grow the mana barrel inside me.'

Not enough mana. That was my ultimate problem.

"I don't even know how to raise my lack of mana..." Without a teacher, I don't know how to practice mana. In fact, the problem was finding a teacher. Alchemists were so rare that they couldn't be found.

"Besides, I don't know why the curse in my veins has suddenly been lifted." Dominic, who was listening to my frustrated voice, patted me on the shoulder and suddenly pricked up his ears.

"Uh, who's coming outside, Mel." "Who?" "Hey, baby." "Baby?" "Tiny blush." "Are you talking about CARAT?"

Before I could ask a question, the door opened with a loud bang.

"Mel!" It was Carat's cheerful voice. As Dominic said, Carat really arrived. Carat was dressed in a black suit, a white shirt, and a bow tie. He even holds something like pink letter paper in his hand.

I looked at Carat with a puzzled expression. "Carat? What's going on?" "I came here because I have something to say." "What do you want to say?"

Carat swallowed. I tilted my head at the child.

'What's going on?'
