Chapter 2 - Awakening in the Wilds of Elast

The first thing Fayt noticed upon waking was the cold breeze. It was unlike anything he had ever felt before. A sharp, biting wind that carried the scent of earth and vegetation, like the deep wilds of an uncharted forest. His body, once weak and frail in his previous life, felt different—stronger, alive in a way that he had never known.

He groaned, blinking his eyes open, only to be met with the vast canopy of trees above him. Their leaves were an unusual shade of crimson, casting an eerie, yet beautiful, glow across the landscape. The air seemed alive, thick with the sound of insects buzzing and birds chirping in the distance. This wasn't like any forest he had ever seen on Earth. It was… alien, both dangerous and magical.

Fayt's fingers brushed the dirt beneath him, grounding himself in the new reality he now faced. His body felt different—his muscles stronger, his senses sharper. He reached up to touch his face, feeling the rough texture of stubble along his jawline. He had no memory of the exact moment of his reincarnation, but the evidence was undeniable—he was in a new body.

The breeze stirred his hair, and his eyes darted around, taking in the wild expanse of this new world. There was no sign of civilization here—just untamed nature, the kind of place humans rarely dared to venture. He was in the heart of a forest, surrounded by towering trees, thick brush, and underbrush that seemed to ripple with hidden life. It was a place where danger could be lurking behind every shadow.

Suddenly, a soft voice echoed in his mind, breaking through the silence.

"I am sorry, Fayt," the voice, gentle and calm, said. It resonated in his head like a whisper on the wind. "I know you are alone in this new world, but I did not want you to suffer the hardships of being a child again."

Fayt froze, the hairs on the back of his neck standing on end. He instinctively reached for his side, where he had felt the pain before he died. But his body was whole, no wound, no blood. He was different. Changed.

"Who… who are you?" Fayt thought, his voice uncertain. His heart pounded in his chest, but there was no fear in his words—just curiosity, a need to understand this new world and what was happening to him.

The voice answered softly, like a distant breeze, a presence both comforting and otherworldly.

"I am the God of Death," she said, and Fayt immediately recognized the voice from his death—the God who had granted him this second chance."I have brought you to the world of Elast, where magic flows like a river, and the lands are full of creatures and powers far beyond anything you could have imagined."

Fayt's mind raced. He was in Elast, a world of magic and mystical creatures. His body was now that of a Blood Demon, a being far different from the human he once was. But the strange thing, the thing that stood out, was that he didn't feel like a child, or an infant. He felt mature, capable. A young adult.

"I created the body you now inhabit to be 18 years old," the God continued, her voice now tinged with a hint of sympathy. "You do not have to go through the suffering of being reborn as a baby, to endure the fragile years of childhood. I wanted you to be strong, so you could make your own choices, and wield the power I have given you without being bound by weakness."

Fayt stood slowly, taking in his surroundings again, the reality of it all settling in. The body was his—he could feel it. His hands flexed with newfound strength, his heart beating steadily within his chest. His clothes, though simple and travel-worn, fit him perfectly, made from a material that seemed to shift with the environment, adapting to his movements.

"But why am I alone here?" Fayt thought, his mind still struggling to process what was happening. He looked around once more, his new senses heightened, his instincts telling him that something was not quite right in this forest.

"You are in the Demon Territory," the God's voice echoed through his mind. "This is a place ruled by those of your kind. But you are not yet ready to face them. The world of Elast is a land of great conflict, where many races fight for dominance. I wanted to give you time to adapt, to understand your powers before you interact with the others."

Fayt frowned. Demon Territory. That wasn't exactly reassuring. He had been reborn as a Blood Demon, but what did that mean in this world? What would it mean to live among the demons here, if that was where he now found himself?

"Your power will grow as you journey through this world," the God of Death's voice continued, as if sensing his confusion. "The path you choose will shape your future, whether you seek to control the lands, protect the innocent, or rise to unimaginable heights. I have given you the freedom to carve your destiny. But know this, Fayt—this world is not kind to the weak."

Fayt swallowed. He could feel the weight of her words settling into his chest, a heavy responsibility pressing down on him. This was no longer just an ordinary life. He wasn't just a man from Earth anymore. He was a Blood Demon, in a world of magic and beasts.

As the God's words faded, a strange tingling sensation filled his body. He felt the surge of magic running through his veins—his blood. He could feel the power, the sharp clarity of his abilities. His new body, his new identity, it all made sense now. He had been reborn—but he was no longer just a man. He was something far greater.

Skill Selection

Fayt's eyes suddenly glowed as the virtual menu appeared before him once again, presenting him with the skills he could use to shape his new life. He was no longer bound by his human limitations. This was his chance to define what he would become in this new world.

His mind raced, thinking of how these abilities would serve him in this strange new world. The Sanguine Shield would protect him from harm, his Vampiric Aura would keep him sustained, and Blood Reprisal would allow him to retaliate against enemies. Status Appraisal would give him a tactical advantage, and Quickstep and Minor Enrage would enhance his mobility and offense.

"You are ready, Fayt." The God's voice filled his mind once more, softer now, as if pulling back. "Go forth, and remember—the world of Elast is waiting for you. You have the power to shape your destiny."

Fayt nodded, though she couldn't see him. He was ready.

Fayt closed his eyes and took a deep breath. The world of Elast was vast, dangerous, and full of opportunities—and he was no longer the man he once was. As a Blood Demon, his journey had just begun.

He would not remain weak. He would ascend.

And he would carve a path through this world with blood, magic, and power.
