Chapter 15 - Chapter 12 Space (Part 1)

Gu Chengyu spent another day eating and sleeping like this, and when he awoke again, it was already dark.

At this moment, an oil lamp was lit in the main room of the Gu Family, and Gu Chengyu could vaguely see the dim light. Children are always sensitive to light.

Originally, the Gu Family did not light the oil lamp at night, as Mrs. Lv thought it a waste of lamp oil. However, the baby was going to be washed the next day, and she planned to chat with Mr. Gu at night to see if everything was prepared.

"Old man, have the things for tomorrow's baby washing been prepared?" Mrs. Lv, because she was in confinement, would not go outside for the washing, so she was not very assured.

"Don't worry, I've already told the eldest and the second to prepare everything. I checked it again, nothing was missed. We've done this several times at home; how could we not do it well?" Mr. Gu replied, slightly furrowing his brows, sitting by the kang not knowing what he was thinking.

"Can't I even ask?" Mrs. Lv was a bit unhappy.

"About your family...since you've had the baby, you should let them know about the washing, right?" Mrs. Lv was stunned, then sneered coldly: "Though just two villages away, I've sent word, but there's not even a shadow until now. Who can hope for such a thing? Parents have only given birth to unfilial children. Our family's days are not prosperous; my brothers look down upon me, so even father and mother can't come to see me." Saying this, she felt even more aggrieved, tears instantly brimming her eyes. Perhaps being strong all the time, she didn't let the tears fall, but her voice somewhat trembled with emotion.

Mr. Gu, seeing that the child's mother was usually very fierce and accustomed to handling her daughter-in-law, now had tears streaming down her face; she was after all a woman, somewhat he felt sorry. Besides, ever since she was with him, she hadn't had a good life, and was even looked down upon by her maternal family. He hurriedly comforted her: "Don't cry now; you're still in confinement, crying will hurt your eyes! Never mind if they don't come; regardless of what they think, we just need to live our own good life."

Gu Chengyu heard a few words and thought, probably his mother's parents were good to her, but her maternal uncles were likely not, looking down upon her. Then why did his mother marry Mr. Gu? After going over this in his mind, he didn't want Mrs. Gu to cry until her eyes hurt, so he raised his little fists and randomly poked to divert Mrs. Lv's attention. Sure enough, Mrs. Lv quickly abandoned her worries and affectionately called her son.

Seeing his wife not sad anymore and hearing Mrs. Gu calling my son, Mr. Gu remembered the youngest son had not been named yet.

"The child is born, yet he hasn't been named. What should we call him?"

"Let's call him Xiao Bao; he's my darling heart." Mrs. Lv looked at the son in her arms, truly growing more fond of him, wishing to give him everything. Actually, she herself found it strange; having given birth to four children already, parents naturally love their own children. She was also a loving mother to the first three, but for this youngest son, she was exceptionally fond. Mrs. Lv credited this feeling to the youngest son being the littlest and looking most like her. So it can be said people's affections are inherently biased, and the emotions between people are even more perplexing.

"This can only be a nickname. In our family, in my generation, the names are all in the 'Cheng' category. The eldest named the previous ones, in the order of propriety, righteousness, integrity, and shame. Fourth used 'shame' badly, changed it to 'fiery', and Xiao Wu then couldn't be matched. Unless we let the eldest name one again?"

"Then let's have the eldest name him. After all, he has read for a few years; it's better than what we could come up with."

Mr. Gu thought again, "Actually, there's no need to have the eldest name him. The child was born with a jade; why not call him Gu Chengyu? Next time we open the ancestral hall, let's have the eldest record the name in the clan genealogy."

"This name sounds good and has an origin. Good! Let's call him Gu Chengyu." Upon hearing this, Mrs. Lv was quite satisfied.

Gu Chengyu heard this and thought, "It's still the name from a previous life; used to it anyway, names are just codes, doesn't matter what they're called." There was nothing worth retaining from the previous life; from the moment he was born, now he is the brand-new Gu Chengyu, starting a new life journey.

"Go to sleep early. You shouldn't exert yourself during confinement. The eggs at home won't be sold; these days, let's have the eldest boil more eggs for you to eat, can't skimp on your body or our son." Clearly, Mr. Gu meant to speak caring words, but when it came to his lips, they changed, and the words turned dry.

"Just afraid it'll shortchange your son, so they won't be sold! Where would milk come from without food? Our family can't afford those expensive foods." Mrs. Lv glared at Mr. Gu, although without much intimidation.

Mr. Gu gave a dry laugh twice.

Gu Chengyu had slept well during the day, now he was quite alert, seemed his father's and mother's relationship was really good!

After the two chatted a while, Mr. Gu then went to sleep in the outer room as Mrs. Lv, during confinement, had to sleep separately from Mr. Gu. The oil lamp in the main room was extinguished, and they all lay down to sleep.

As the people who spoke went to sleep, Gu Chengyu still hadn't slept; during the day, with lots of people around, it's not convenient to explore the space, now at night, with darkness and obscurity, it was the perfect time to investigate the space. After waiting a bit, struggling to kick his little legs, seeing Mrs. Lv didn't respond, she must be asleep.

He concentrated his mind, imagined the jade in his mind, and saw that jade lying quietly in his mind, felt his spiritual power like strands of silk enveloping the Jade Pendant, slowly infiltrating it.

Suddenly felt brightness in front of his eyes, turns out he had arrived in the Jade Pendant space.

Gu Chengyu was surprised he could actually see things clearly, presumably because he was the master of the space, thus able to see everything inside.

In his sight appeared a finely crafted two-story wooden building, with a large farmland in front of the building, not knowing how many acres. There were no crops in the field, bare, yet upon closer inspection, the soil was tinged black with a bit red. In the distance, extending mountains rolled endlessly, their lush greenery planted with many unknown trees. Between two mountains lay a sprawling lake, shimmering on the surface, truly surrounded by green mountains and clear waters—such idyllic beauty. To the left of the wooden building was an orchard, bearing ordinary fruits on the fruit trees. To the right was a spring, with clear water bubbling and flowing, trickling down a groove paved with smooth pebbles into a small pond.

Raising his head, he unexpectedly saw the shopping mall he collected just behind the pond?

Gu Chengyu looked at the scenery in space, feeling it was almost like the outside world, except the scenery was better. Intending to see the wooden building, just about to move, he then discovered he was floating, mere three feet off the ground. But in his current small body, how could he walk?

Suddenly thought, since the body could float, couldn't it also go wherever he wished? Using his mind to drive the body to fly to the wooden building front. Gu Chengyu used his small body to push the seemingly heavy wooden door, he only intended to try, yet found the door opened unexpectedly.
