Among the ruins of Aerenthia—a once-thriving futuristic metropolis now eerily empty—a girl named Lirael suddenly awakens with no memory. All she carries is a glowing pendant and a vague echo of a voice calling her to a specific place.
There, she meets Peterson, a rational and slightly cynical young man who holds a major secret about the Resonance. Together, they are joined by other survivors, each with a unique past and set of abilities:
