Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Let Him Bleed a Little

The crowd murmured restlessly."Mr. Ye has truly suffered in silence this time.""This is the only store in West City linked directly to Sunshine. I've heard its owner has an extraordinary, mysterious background…"

Hearing the voices, Su Wanwan lifted her head and caught sight of Fu Liangmu's sharply defined jawline. The next second, a cold hand gently rested atop her head. Fu Liangmu lowered his voice deliberately—only the two of them could hear him."What's the matter? Feeling sorry for him?"

Su Wanwan curled her lips into a smile, her eyes devoid of emotion as she stared at Ye Nan, who was livid at having wasted 2.5 million in vain but forced himself to endure it."I don't think it's enough."Did she look like someone easily bullied?

Su Nian forced a smile, bracing herself as she accepted the neatly wrapped jewelry from the sales assistant. Su Wanwan stretched out her hand toward her."My dear sister, thank you for the lovely gift."

Su Nian's smile turned awkward, a flicker of venom hidden deep in her eyes. She feigned generosity as she placed the gift into Su Wanwan's hand."Y-yes, it was meant for you from the beginning, after all…"

"Now that everything that should be given has been given, Nan-ge, shall we... leave?"Su Nian lightly tugged at Ye Nan's sleeve. He was desperate for an excuse to retreat, and Su Nian had given him just the one."Yes, it's getting late. I still have a business meeting later. Let's not waste more time here."

The two turned to leave at once.

Su Wanwan's voice rang out, calm and unhurried."Wait."

Su Nian's body stiffened."Is there something else, sister?"

"When you entered the store, weren't you making a fuss about choosing a beautiful piece of jewelry to take home? How can you walk away empty-handed?"

Su Nian forced a smile, subtly flaunting the bracelet Ye Nan had given her by shaking her wrist."I already have a bracelet."

"A bracelet alone won't do. You'll need a necklace to match."

Su Wanwan stepped out of Fu Liangmu's embrace, walked over to the counter, and swept her eyes across the display. She pointed to the most expensive one."I think this one suits you perfectly."

The sales assistant caught on instantly and chimed in enthusiastically:"This necklace does complement your skin tone beautifully! With your slender neck, it would look absolutely stunning. What's more, it's incredibly versatile—it pairs well with any gown."

Had Su Wanwan not set this up, Su Nian would have surely clung to Ye Nan and pestered him into buying it. But now…Glancing at Ye Nan's displeased expression, Su Nian dared not utter another word."I mean... it's alright. Nothing too special about it."

The moment her words fell, the crowd's expressions changed. Some even mocked:"Tch, if you can't afford it, just say so. Why keep up appearances?""Exactly! This is one of Sunshine's most frequently restocked non-limited edition pieces!""I remember it broke a million in sales within the first hour of release!""What a poor sense of taste…"

Su Nian hadn't expected her casual excuse to provoke such backlash. She quickly stole another glance at the necklace in Su Wanwan's hand—no wonder it looked familiar, it really was a Sunshine piece!"No, that's not what I meant…" she hurriedly tried to explain.

Beside her, Ye Nan's expression darkened. Su Wanwan—this cold-blooded woman—had clearly never intended to let them go easily. Maybe all of today's events were part of her carefully laid trap.

Su Nian rambled on in defense, but no one was listening anymore. She turned pleading eyes, now shimmering with tears, toward Ye Nan."Nan-ge…"

Ye Nan couldn't bear to see the woman he loved suffer like this. In a surge of defiance, he shouted:"It's just a necklace! I can afford it! Swipe the card!"

With a flourish, he snapped his fingers and handed over his card in a dramatic gesture.

The assistant smiled and reached out, but after tugging the card twice without success, Ye Nan finally loosened his grip with a twitching mouth. It's just a necklace—how expensive could it be?

Soon the card was handed back, along with an apology."I'm sorry, sir, your card has insufficient funds."

"What?!" Ye Nan exclaimed in disbelief. "There should still be five million on that card!"

"This is the last piece of its kind available in all of West City," the assistant explained calmly. "Sunshine's designer has confirmed it will never be restocked, so naturally, the price is... elevated."

Ye Nan nearly roared—Are you robbing me?!

Surrounded by ridicule, Su Nian couldn't take it anymore and whispered,"Nan-ge…"

Ye Nan took a deep breath and pulled out another card from his wallet.

After the successful transaction, his fingers trembled slightly.

He had only spent ten million marrying a living person—and now he had nearly spent the same amount on a damn necklace. This was daylight robbery.

Watching the couple flee in embarrassment, Su Wanwan's lips curved with satisfaction, a gleam of triumph in her almond-shaped eyes.

Fu Liangmu observed every flicker of her expression, then turned to the manager."Have all the jewelry in the store packed and sent over."

Su Wanwan looked up in surprise."Huh?"

Before she could ask, Fu Liangmu had already taken her away.

Back in the car, Su Wanwan finally said,"Thank you for stepping in earlier."Though she'd planned to handle it on her own, it still felt nice to have someone backing her up.

"No one gets to bully my woman," Fu Liangmu said coolly.

Su Wanwan blushed. She lowered the car window slightly, letting the breeze cool the air before glancing over at Fu Liangmu's masked, handsome face.

"You look quite good like this.""Mm.""Um… but everyone seems to think you're my sugar daddy.""Mm."

Su Wanwan gently rubbed her nose. This man could truly kill a conversation.

Upon arriving home, the elderly madam looked mildly surprised."Back already?"

Su Wanwan quickly went to support her."We got everything we needed. Oh, and Grandma, here's the massage device I got for you."

"You thoughtful girl… not like my grandson. He never thinks of this old lady's bones."

Su Wanwan cast an innocent glance at Fu Liangmu, who simply said,"I'll head out again. Stay here with Grandma.""Alright."

She chatted with the old lady for several hours. Meanwhile, people were coming in, hauling box after box upstairs.

Su Wanwan grew curious—what exactly was Fu Liangmu up to?

It wasn't until she returned to her room that she discovered the once-empty walk-in closet was now overflowing. Seasonal outfits, evening gowns, shoes, the latest designer bags, perfumes—everything a woman could dream of.

Even Su Wanwan, who'd never been fond of luxury, couldn't help but exclaim—"Is this... a woman's paradise?"
