A pause.
Then his reply came.

I stared at the screen.
My fingers tightened around the phone.
Not knowing was worse than anything else.
What had she given him?
What secrets had I unknowingly fed the enemy?
Later in the evening, the agent sent another message.
Another drop. Same café. Same time.
I didn't respond right away.
I stared at the photo.
Mariah. Again. But this time… she wasn't with Derick.

My breath hitched.

Smiling. Leaning in like they'd known each other forever.
