Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 - Suzie in Glass

9:15 PM — Eva's Car, Speeding North

Eva gripped the wheel so tight her fingers throbbed. Suzie's voice still rang in her head.

"I'm at the aquarium, I work late Tuesdays. I'm in the exhibit hall. I locked the doors."

Safe, for now.

But so was Mark… until he wasn't.

Eva floored the gas. The road twisted like nerves under her tires. Outside, the ocean glittered under moonlight, a false calm to Death's storm.

9:28 PM – The Aquarium, Main Hall

Suzie Zhang paced the long, blue-lit corridor. All around her, water moved—gliding fish, drifting jellyfish, the yawning black shapes of sharks on the far end of the tunnel.

The aquarium was silent.

Dead silent.

She checked her reflection in the curved glass of the shark tank. Her breath fogged it slightly. She wiped it away.

But her reflection… didn't move.

It smiled.

Suzie gasped and stumbled back—right into a rolling cart of tools left out by maintenance.

A wrench hit the floor.

CLANG.

From overhead, a loose panel in the ceiling creaked.

9:31 PM — Eva's POV

Eva swerved into the empty parking lot, tires screeching. The doors were locked. She found a side gate. Slammed through it.

"Please be alive," she whispered.

9:32 PM – The Tank Room

Suzie ran.

Footsteps echoing off glass and tile.

A pipe above hissed—something hot dripped to the floor behind her.

She found a corner maintenance room and locked herself in.

Panting.

Alone.

The room was full of glass panels, tools, and an old fish tank they never used anymore.

The light above her flickered.

Suzie turned to the panel window in the door and saw nothing.

Until—

A shadow moved past.

No sound.

No footsteps.

She grabbed a screwdriver from the bench.

She'd survive.

Just like she had before.

9:34 PM — Glass Has Memory

But the glass beside her began to crack.

Not from force.

From within.

Tiny spiderweb fractures rippled across the tank as if something were screaming inside the glass.

She stepped back, wide-eyed.

The tank shattered outward, jagged shards exploding in all directions.

A massive shard flew into her chest, skewering her like a blade.

She coughed blood.

Fell backward—

Right into a panel of spikes and glass debris that had been knocked over during her struggle.

One spike pierced her neck.

Another went through her eye.

She twitched.

Once.

Twice.

Then stopped.

The room filled with the sound of dripping.

Glass.

Blood.

Silence.

9:36 PM — Eva Enters

She kicked in the door.

Too late.

She stared in horror at the body.

Blood painted the walls like art.

Eva stepped back, shaking.

"No… no, no…"

She dropped to her knees.

Suzie's phone buzzed once.

An alarm she'd set.

The text flashed:

"See you tomorrow :) Don't die on me!"

9:40 PM — Eva Alone Again

Eva stood, drenched in sorrow.

Everyone was gone.

Everyone.

Or…

Was there still someone else?

She had to find out.

There had to be someone else.

Because she felt it.

Death wasn't done with her yet.
