"Huh!!"
Breathe came with a gasp.
Keith Hall shot upright, drenched in sweat, his heart hammering like it had been trying to jump out of his chest.
"System?"
"I'm I hallucinating?" Keith mumbled to himself while he was lying on the ground in serious pain.
He was not mistaken, he could have sworn he heard a well articulated, mechanical female voice ringing in his head. One that sounded very much like the AI assistant in his car. However, he assumed it was a result of hitting his head violently due to the accident.
With intense pain all over his body, it took him all his remaining strength to pick himself up from the ground. Which by surprise, seemed rather too easy than he anticipated.
And after what seemed like an indeterminable amount of time had passed, he finally managed to sit up right with his body leaned heavily against the wall.
However, before he could catch his breath, Keith was stunned by the absurdity of the sight in front og him.
Naturally, he thought he would come to see the wreckage or the aftermath of the car accident he just survived. But, he sat against a wall facing an open road with cars driving about their businessess and no sight of any accident or wreckage to support what just happened to him.
To add to his confusion and dissaray-
Tti-tiring.
[BUSINESS GOD SYSTEM v1.0]
[Congratulations, Keith Hall you have been selected to be the host of the BUSINESS GOD SYSTEM v1.0]
[Would You Like To Rewrite Your Story?]
As if bad timing was not enough, a golden ripple appeared in the air, like someone had cracked the edge of reality itself. A translucent, yellowish screen blinked into existence bearing sharp white letters in a fancy font.
A cusor blinked below. Two options:
[>Yes]
[>No]
"What? Is this how crazy people see the world?" he muttered. "I remember this… asked me this same question!. You asked me if I would like to rewrite my story."
He tilted his head. "Is that… is that why everything is so different? Rewrite my story…"
Keith blinked. Then, slowly, he began to make out the content of his surroundings.
Aside from the fact that his car which he just had an accident in was missing, there were a number of changes.
Keith was sitted outside of what he made out to be a hotel, and he wasn't dressed in his fancy, expensive suite anymore. He had a delivery mans uniform on, a white T-Shirt neatly tucked into a corresposnding white shorts.
Embroided boldly on the breast pocket of his shirt: DashBite.
"What the hell is going on?" Keith's heart began spiking again as he took in the differences between his experience and what it was a few minutes ago.
Finally recognizing something else, his own voice. He was startled by it, he stood on shaky legs and stumbled to the side mirror of a car parked nearby.
Anxious.
Keith stared at the picture before him.
It was his face of course. But it wasn't the one he was familiar with.
This one had way less facial hair, no faint scars, and most importantly, no crows feet.
He was younger. Maybe three to four years younger than his original age, lean, soft jawed. Eyes too wide, skin unweathered by the stress of work and time.
Keith couldn't belive it. He stumbled backwards, staring at his image and the holographic screen in font of him simultanoeusly.
[Would You Like To Rewrite Your Story?]
[>Yes]
[>No]
The cursor kept blinking with urgency, waiting for him to make a decision.
He stared at it intensively. Then, it suddenly clicked in his mind and he picked.
[>Yes]
Tti-tiring.
The screen flared. The words shifted.
[Welcome host! You have succesfully been transmigrated to an alternate timeline by the system]
[As a result of the systems SURE-HIT EFFECT, information about this new world will be promptly downloaded to host memory and understanding becomes vivid as host expands]
Tti-tiring.
"Huh?!"
[Select your Business Domain]
[A Business Domain refers to the strategic blueprint used to generate income, delivery value, and maintain competitive advantage in the market.]
Keith grimaced, it was all starting to make sense now. The new look, the clothes, the disappearance of any evidence of accident. He was no longer in the world he knew!
"I see… I can rewrite my own story…"
Tti-tiring.
[As long as you follow the systems Terms and Conditions…]
He wouldn't even let the system finish speak before he blurted out. "What are the T and C's?"
Tti-titing.
[1.Every month you are tasked to earn a target profit using a particular business domain. As long as the income earned is through that particular sector, you will be rewarded accordingly]
[2.Discretion as the existence of the BUSINESS GOD SYSTEM must be strictly kept.]
[3.Wealth or benefits from the domain must be used for business and ethical reasons]
[4.The system reserves the right to modify terms and rules at any time without prior notice.]
[5.Violation of rules or misuse of the system may result in disqualification and a return to previous timeline. Which automatically means YOUR DEATH]
[6.The system is not liable for disputes, losses or damges arising from domain selection or use.]
[By choosing a business domain, you agree to these terms and conditions.]
[Host, what is your business domain?!]
In his previous life, Keith was the CEO of a massive food production, distribution and wholesale company named Pinnacle Foods. So it was pretty clear to him what business domain he is likely to choose.
"Does Pinnacle Foods already exist in this world?" he muttered to himself, hopong the system would reply to his question.
Only to be unceremoniously ignored.
"Should I try bring Pinnacle Foods back up from the ground? No. I would have to choose a new domain by next month… it would take more than that to build a multi-million dollar company".
"For christ sake, how would you just dump this decision on me after I just transmigrated…" Keith blurted out softly with a tint of frustration etched in his voice.
With a subtle rub to his temples, and few seconds of silence-
"Food Industry…"
[Solid!]
[Is that your final decision?!]
[Warning: Business Domain canot be changed until the begininng of the next month.]
"Did you not hear what I said?!" he huffed with excitement.
Tti-tiring.
The interface solidified, icons reconfigurung.
[You have chosen the monthly Business Domain: Food Industry]
[May Target Profit for the Domain of Food Industry is set at $200,000]
[Failure to reach target profit will result in the disappearance of the BUSINESS GOD SYSTEM.]
[You have been granted a skill…]
"Skill?"
Ti-tiring.
[Skill Unlocked> Income Multiplier]
"Income multiplier? Seriously?"
[Would you like to make this skill your innate skill? E.I skill will be automatic]
"What the fuck?! is that even possible?" Keith dug his fingers into his hair in astonishment.
"Hell yeah! That is like an infinte money glich!"
Ti-tiring!
[The skill known as Income Multiplier has been set to be host innate skill.]
[Warning> This decision is irriversible until host levels up significantly]
[Income Multiplier Effect X30 on all income streams in the Domain> Food Industry in the month of May.]
"Youre joking! So youre saying that any income I make within my chosen domain gets multiplied by x30…"
He was now intrigued with the absurd phenomenon that had happened to him, he thought of something. He figured that it wouldn't hurt to try.
"This should technically work… delivering as a delivery driver should count as working in the Food Industy…"
Whipping out the smart phone in his pocket, he opened the DashBite app that was installed and selected the option to transfer his past earnings to his bank account.
His actions were fluid, without hesitation, like he had done that exact thing over and over again.
He had an accumulation of approximately $1250 from working as a delivery driver in this world.
Ti-tiring.
[Incoming Transfer> $1251]
[Account Balance> $1251]
A heavy silence fell around him as he stared at the systems interface in anticipation.
Ti-tiring.
[Innate Skill activated> Income Multipleir by x30]
[Multiplier applied. You have received $37,530]
[Account Balance> $37,530]
The golden holographic screen reflected the changes. And to his ample surprise, almost simultaneously, he received a phone notification from his bank.
"Huh…"
"Oh my god!".
