Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

Jasmines P.o.v

"I don't understand you, mother. I've been going to work obviously." I retorted, looking into my mother's eyes.

"You forgot your lunchbox while in a hurry to "your work" this morning and I had called your boss after several attempts to reach you." I swallowed hard knowing what was coming. "Is there something you're not telling me, Jasmine?"

"Mother, it's not what you think," I tried to breathe while answering my mother. Madam Silvia can be loquacious sometimes and might have told my mum about the ordeal with Mateo's goons the other time.

"So, what is it exactly?" my mother's gentle voice roared in my ears and for the first time, I'd never seen her so angry. "Who were the goons that had come to harass you and what do they want from you?"

My eyes narrowed and I felt a pang of electric wave flow through me. It's over! Madam Silvia has definitely spilled the bean and there's no need trying to hide no more.

"They were no one, mother. It was just a mistake, they had mistaken me for someone else and I just had to leave because Madam Silvia couldn't help it. So luckily, I got another job few days after. I couldn't bring myself to tell you about it because you're just recovering and I don't..." I couldn't find the words as I tried to explain to my mum, my eyes covered in tears. "I'm really sorry, mother, I just felt there's no need for you knowing because it wasn't necessary."

My mother only looked at me with her hands akimbo. "I'm no fool, Jasmine. And what baffles me is how professional you seem to have become with your lies. I birthed you and I have lived long enough before you and know what goons are capable of and what not. They can be very precise with their target and make no mistakes. Do you even remember why we had to move from the urban to the suburb here? your father's story?..."

"Mother!" I interrupted my mom.

I know and I promise you it's not what you think. What I had just said is nothing, but the truth. I can give you my boss's number of the new place where I work to confirm.

My mum's eyes locked directly into mine and I reciprocated not moving my gaze away.

"Fine. I believe you Jasmine, but please thread carefully. I can't afford to lose the only thing that keeps me alive. I'd die before that happens."

I wrapped my arms around her in a gentle way. "I know, mother. I love you, and I'd never do anything to put you in that position."

As I stood to support my mum with displaying the clothes, my eyes caught the attention of a man. He was on black shades and seem to be watching me from afar. That definitely wasn't Mateo's goon, but his aura was attractive even though unsettling. I looked back to see if there was anyone behind me he probably was looking at, but couldn't see anyone.

I turned back to look at his direction and could see him waving at me instead. I watch him enter the black SUV after a girl entered and drove off. Weird! I thought to myself.

I spent some time with my mother before taking my leave home to prepare for my job at the club. I felt guilty not opening up entirely to my mum, but what she had known is already enough, At least, I have a better paying job now, but just not sufficient enough to pay Mateo. I hissed at thought of Mateo, that bastard!

"Ten days," the words echoed in my head. I have just ten days to pay Mateo or else... the worst is only yet to come.

On getting home by evening, I took my shower and dressed up, on my way to the club where I work as a bar tender. I was lucky enough to get the job through Sophia, Rachel's longtime friend who also works at the club. She had told Rachel about a vacancy at the "pink holes" club one time and coincidentally, it happened to be the same time I had left Madam Silvia's store.

"Hey, Jasmine," Tobias, my co-worker at the bar unit received me on arrival at the club.

"Hey Tobias, what's good?"

"You arrived just in time, Jasmine. Mr. Diego had asked of you and he requested for his cosmopolitan."

"Mr. Diego? I asked Tobias making sure I heard him right. "Why didn't you serve him instead?"

"Well, he insisted you should be the one to bring it to his lounge. He wouldn't let me, you're yours is the best," Tobias winked.

Tobias is gay and I could understand why he had rejected his offer. Mr. Diego is one of our regular patron and a powerful man who has been pestering me since the day I met him. I am only a few days old here and I could tell how much of a filth he is.

I mixed a cosmopolitan and poured it into a chilled glass and went to his normal lounge in the club.

"Here's your order, Mr. Diego," I frowned as I placed the pink drink on the table and I could tell from his sitting position and solitude that he is inebriated.

"Here you are beautiful," he removed the shisha he has been smoking away and stood up to meet me.

"I missed you," his voice whispered, his hot breathe wafting against my ear.

My skin crawled and I tried to move back. "Anything else, you'd like me to help you with?"

He looked at me with a lustful look before speaking. "You. I want you."

I tried to run out of his lounge, but his hands grabbed me and he intensify his hold around my arm with one hand, pushing me close with the other and reaching for my lips.

"Those lips, help me with them," his finger dug deeper into my skin at every effort to break from his bold.

Let go now, Diego.

Suddenly, a figure materialized behind us. He has a dark hair that is effortlessly stylish with a face so masculine and breathtakingly handsome. With a swift motion, he pried Diego's fingers off my hand. Diego stumbled backward, his eyes widening as he took in the strangers imposing frame.

"Mind your own business," he snarled, but the stranger's piercing gaze sent him scurrying out of his own lounge.

I rubbed my sore arm with my hand, my heart still racing. "Thank you," I stuttered, meeting the strangers gaze. He has hypnotizing green eyes that could draw in any soul.

"Are you okay?" he asked and his voice speaks of nothing but pure gentleness.

I nodded. "Yes"

He smiled and then stretched his hand forward. "I'm Sebastian by the way."

Thank you, nice to meet you, Sebastian. I'm Jasmine.
