In a mansion, a ten-year-old boy was sleeping in this room when he heard a knock at the door.
"Young master are you still asleep ?",
a soft voice called out behind the door. The boy woken by the voice rose from bed. His grey hair was disheveled from sleep, and he had a serpent dragon tattooed on his back. He padded towards the door and opened it. As he opened the door, he was greeted by Emma, his personal maid, a young woman with long, dark hair dressed in a maid's uniform.
"Young master, why did you lock the door?" she asked. Her voice tinged with concern.
"I could not come in". The boy gasped at Emma, his personal maid, and shrugged. "I was feeling sleepy and decided to lock the door. What's wrong with that?"
Emma's expression turned serious.
"Young master, don't you know that locking the door to your room isn't safe? What if something happened? How would the guards come in to protect you? ".
When she was done complaining, she handed him a set of clothes. Her voice gentle ,
"Young master, here are your clothes. Get ready, today is a big day".
Unbeknownst to Emma, the young master she addressed was not a boy at all, but a dragon who had lived for thousands of years and was reincarnated.
After his rebirth, his new parents named him Eric. He was the grandchild of the very man who killed him in his previous life as a dragon.
At first, Eric's anger burned hot, he fantasized about raising the man's creation to the ground. However, this rage subsided when he discovered the man's vast wealth. a hair figure with numerous mansions and riches. As a former dragon, Eric had to hunt to get food and would always stay in his cave. But now, the burden of hunting for food is gone and his newfound luxury was a tempting prospect. Well, I forgive you, old man, Eric said to himself. Though you killed me in my past life, you have given me a new one. He pondered the luxury that now surrounded him. "No more cave dwelling, no more stress. Now I have a private bed and a private maid, something I never had as a dragon. All thanks to you, old man. I am now part of one of the wealthiest families in the country, living an easy life. No worries. Just sleep, eat and rest. All thanks to you". After dressing in the clothes Emma had brought, Eric admired his reflection in a mirror. Eric said, How will they fit if I were still a dragon? He thought to himself, I'd never have been able to wear such fine attire. Eric, now ten years old, was celebrating his birthday and guests had arrived from all over the country to join in the celebration. However, this wasn't just any ordinary birthday for noble children. Turning ten marks a significant milestone. A attribute-selected ceremony. On this day, Eric would choose the elemental power he would wield for the rest of his life. The element or attribute chosen would significantly influence a person's future. However, Eric wasn't concerned about that, knowing that his family would shield him from the front line. As the youngest child of the house, with three older brothers and one sister, he wasn't expected to take on a combat role. As Eric exited his room and walked down the hallway, he passed by a gallery of painting. His eyes lingered on the painting of his grandfather, the man who had slain him in his past life as a dragon. Eric seemed to acknowledge the man's whispering to himself. "Thank you, old man, for making death a gift." With that, he continued on his way, heading straight for the hall. Where everyone awaited his arrival for his birthday celebration, as Eric approached the banquet door, he heard his name being called from afar.
"Eric, Eric, wait for me."
He turned around to see his elder sister, Jenny, hurrying towards him.
as the second born in the family. Jenny wielded significant influence over the nation. She was a powerful woman with a striking beauty, but her temper was notorious. Despite that, she had a soft spot for her younger brother, Eric. As Jenny caught up to Eric, she grabbed his hands and smiled. You can't walk into the banquet alone on your special day, she said. Let's go together. With that, she led Eric into the grand hall, which burst into a sea of faces as the door swung open. The opulent decoration and lavish attire of the guests sparkled under the chandelier, fitting for a noble. As they entered, all eyes turned to Eric, with some gentlemen murmuring, so that is the youngest child of the house of Elijah. After Eric, grandfather, annihilated the entire dragon race, his name spread far and wide, striking fear into the hearts of many. the feet was remarkable, considering it would take four strong warriors to slay a single dragon. Yet he single-handedly wiped out an entire population of dragon. The guests at Eric's banquet had gathered not only because of his grandfather's legendary powers, but also due to the family's reputation for producing powerful ability users. As one of the strongest families in the country and a global powerhouse, many dignitaries had travelled from far. Some even brought their daughter to introduce to Eric in hopes of forming an alliance. Eric, however, remained motionless, greeting each guest politely, while secretly yearning for the party to end so he could. Retreat to his room. As Jenny escorted him to the stage where their parents sat, Eric's gaze fell upon his father and mother, a middle-aged couple in their late forties. They smiled warmly as Eric and Jenny approached. After Eric took his seat beside his parents, his father rose to his feet and declared, Let the celebration begin. The guests erupted into celebration, dancing and feasting . As the celebration was going on, a mysterious figure emerged. A woman, clad in a long robe, adorned with a scarf with a glowing green orb, a hat cast a subtle shadow on her face, yet her presence exuded an aura of mystique. Her attire and demeanor hinted at her true nature, a witch, and not just any witch but a ground witch, one who had lived for centuries accumulating wisdom and power. As the witch entered the banquet hall, she scanned the room and asked,
"Where is the boy who is to choose his elemental powers?".
Typically, children did not have the luxury of selecting their element. Instead, their ability were determined by the strongest attribute within them. For instance, if someone possesses both fire and water attributes, the dominant attribute would determine their ability. However, as a noble, Eric had a unique advantage. He could choose any element regardless of his initial attribute. The witch's presence was to ensure that Eric's chosen element would be a success, allowing him to grow his full potential. As Eric met the witch's gaze, she welcomed him to the center of the hall. With a swift glance around, she said,
" I am short on time, so let's start early , young man, please touch the crystal ball on my staff."
Eric complied, as soon as his hand made contact with the orb, it began to glow with an intense green light. Simultaneously, Eric's eyes shone with the same green light.
