I mentally prepared myself. Candice was wounded but she could probably still land a critical shot.
I wasn't disillusioned thinking I could kill this thing.
Towering over me, the Fenrir looked especially ferocious. It's eyes shone red and it's thick blue fur raised. I calmly glanced at the beast. I wasn't feeling the irrationality of fear.
A whirlwind suddenly rose up. Blowing dust everywhere.
"Now since no one is looking this might actually be a great way to test out my skills."
Using [understanding] I pinpointed it's weakness. Tracing a path to it's core with my mind's eye I could feel my mana depleting. Grabbing my sword, I started running toward it.
Time slowed. I was calm, steady. In one of the books I read out of curiosity I saw something and gained inspiration for an attack.
In the book a swordsman moved at Lightspeed and cut a monster in half with one slash.
I wasn't confident I could pull this move without side effects but it would be amazing if I have a hidden card like this. Activating [prodigy] and [understanding] I channeled all my lightning elemental particles toward my legs, a move like this would destroy an ordinary person's legs, but thanks to [Manacrosis] my magical damage is lowered. I recalled the description of the slash and recreated it in my mind's eye.
"Like thunder, strike. Like lightning, descend."
I dashed forward at Lightspeed, leaving behind a shockwave. What I was about to do was crazy, and I did it with a straight face.
Dashing past Candice I shouted.
"AIM FOR THE MIDDLE OF IT'S EYES!!"
Flustered - but wasting no time Candice charged up a mana arrow.
I had only one mission - keep the Fenrir busy. I arrived before the beast at the blink of an eye my legs felt like they were ripped apart. I proceeded to slash downward at it's hind legs. Making it stagger.
Blood leaked from the wound, luckily it wasn't too shallow. My arms were numb, my mana depleted.
"Guess I'll have to leave it to Candice now."
I leaned on my sword, it was rough, but I think I just created my own unique sword technique. The drawbacks are major though.
"I think I'll call this move [Flash]."

"It became a skill?"
After Candice shot her arrow, the beast let out a final roar. Sending a shockwave towards us.
It was over.
The voice of the instructor was like a weight being lifted off my shoulders.
I gestured to Candice who was still looking at me in shock, to keep this a secret. Standing out brings too much trouble. I don't have time to deal with things like that.
"Group 8 passed! Time seven minutes and forty eight seconds."
Finally I can rest, I was worried that things would take a turn for the worst if I made a mistake.
After that class was dismissed. I left as early as I could. I stood out way too much luckily the whirlwind covered me, and my moves were too fast for everyone to see.

Candice was standing on the field surrounded by her classmates, being showered with praises. But she couldn't care less about that. Her attention was focused on the boy walking away in the distance. With his silver hair flowing behind him.
It was strange.
'That lightning fast sword art, that calm level-headedness and decisiveness. Those were not the qualities of someone ranked 800th'
'Is he hiding his strength? Is he actually from a powerful clan?' her thoughts raced, she couldn't think of an answer to any of these questions.
She was getting suspicious.
'Just you wait Caelum Veris... I will find out everything about you."

I arrived at my next class pretty early. I think it was magical engineering.
I took a seat at the back near the window, that's the best place to lay low. Just a little while after I arrived, someone else came. It was a girl, her long midnight blue black hair flowed behind her and her eyes were hidden behind her glasses.
Aria was still beautiful. It's a shame, if I didn't have goals in life I would've probably been like those other simps in her fanclub.
She proceeded to walk past my desk and sat one row infront of me.
'Well that's ominous.'
Being in the same space as the main characters is bound to lead to problems. Luckily Aria isn't the chatty type, so she didn't approach me.
The class slowly started to fill up, until the professor Mr.Moodley came.
He gave us a whole lecture on Magical Engineering. I would like if I said I wasn't interested in that class. The lecture was roughly fourth five minutes long.
"Alright in two days we will be taking a small test to gauge your basics. I will see you all then. Class dismissed."

"I see so that was just the basics." Since I retained roughly the same amount of information as I did from basic books, I was able to understand that more complex topics are on the way.
Exiting the class, I dragged my exhausted body to my dormroom and locked myself in.
"Time for some good ole sleep" I plunged into the bed and got lost in the land of my dreams.
