Noelle arrived at Hage village right after sunrise and picked up Zura without wasting a second. Lily stood at the orphanage gate, eyes a little sad but smile warm. She didn't cry, didn't cling—just wished him luck.
Zura smirked at her, mouthed something cocky, and jumped onto the pigeon behind Noelle.
The wind hit hard as they soared through the sky, but Noelle didn't say a word for a while. She was too focused on whatever was spinning inside her head. Then, finally—
"Did you manage to learn to absorb multiple kinds of magic at once?"
"I did."
"You realize today's important, right?"
"I do," Zura replied and let out a sigh. "Why are you so damn serious today?"
"I'm feeling anxious," she mumbled, then added after a short pause, "For you."
Zura raised a brow and grinned. "Did you miss me?"
"I did."
He blinked. That… caught him off guard. From a tsundere like her, that shit was more unexpected than a hot nun with a high sex drive.
He leaned forward and wrapped his arms around her from behind. "Don't worry. I got this."
Of course, she still thought he was afraid of heights. That lie had worked wonders so far, and Zura wasn't about to throw it away now. He slid his hands slowly from her waist to her stomach, then higher, right under her chest. He hesitated—waited for her to slap him, or at least scold him.
Nothing.
That was weird. Was she frozen? Nervous? Or… did she not mind?
Zura took the shot. His hands cupped her breasts gently, giving them the softest squeeze. They were warm, way too soft, and they made his fingers twitch with the urge to go again. But just as he was about to go for round two, he pulled back instead and muttered, "Sorry. My hand slipped."
"Today's important for you," Noelle said with a cold edge. "I don't want to injure you by throwing you off this bird."
Yeah, he could feel the heat in her voice. She was mad—but not enough to actually stop him. She let it slide. Probably the only time she'd ever do that.
Zura swallowed and sat straight. "Glad I didn't go for the second squeeze…"
They reached the Clover Kingdom within the hour. From above, the capital looked massive, with the grand magic arena towering in the middle like a monument of pride and tradition.
"There's your gate. Show your grimoire. Say you're from Clover. The Wizard King already handled the documents."
"Cool."
"All nine captains are gonna watch your performance. So don't screw up. One mistake and they'll write you off."
"Relax, I know."
Zura let her keep talking. He liked the way she cared—this version of Noelle didn't come out often, and it was kinda cute. She rambled more instructions like a worried older sister, telling him not to fight back if someone tried to provoke him, and to ignore the nobles that might talk shit.
"Also, you will meet many contestants flaunting and insulting you. But don't get angry or try to show off," Noelle asserted. "They will leave a bad impression, and if you just ignore them, you will get plus points from the viewers."
"Besides, the royals are hypocrites. They will always favor the contestants with high standards," Noelle uttered in a low voice. "But don't let them get to you. The magic knight squad captains decide the results, and they are all good people."
"Standard royal assholes," Zura muttered.
"The captains are fair," she said at the end. "They're not like the nobles. Do your best."
With that, she turned the pigeon and flew off. Zura watched her disappear into the clouds, then walked toward the entrance gate.
He showed his nine-leaf grimoire, and as expected, the guards stared at it like it was some forged piece of garbage. They even laughed. He didn't blame them. In the manga, they couldn't even recognize a five-leaf grimoire when Asta showed up.
Inside, the arena was packed. Hundreds of hopefuls gathered below. The stands were full—nobles, commoners, families, reporters—everyone waiting to see who would rise and who would eat dirt.
Nine chairs sat in the front, still empty. Above them, two thrones loomed—one for Julius, the other for the useless-ass king no one gave a damn about.
Zura took a deep breath and muttered, "Even though I've seen this shit in the anime and manga… it still hits different being here."
Then came the moment.
The captains walked in, one after another. The crowd roared.
Golden Dawn's William Vangeance.
Silver Eagle's Nozel Silva.
Blue Rose's Charlotte Roselei.
Crimson Lion's Fuegoleon Vermillion.
Green Mantis's Jack the Ripper.
Coral Peacock's Dorothy Unsworth.
Purple Orca's Kaiser Granvorka.
Aqua Deer's Rill Boismortier.
And finally—Black Bull's Yami Sukehiro.
Zura smirked wide. "Finally." Yami was the one he wanted to meet the most.
'I honestly don't care about other captains. It's not like they are bad, but they are meh. However, I can't wait to meet Yami! He is my favorite male character of black clover!'
'Asta was second. But he doesn't exist in this universe…' Zura shifted slightly, realizing he was getting a boner from the memory of railing Lily just last night. Twisting her from a kind-hearted nun into a full-blown naughty slut? Still made his blood rush.
Julius walked in and took his seat, looking majestic as hell in his adult form. The crowd screamed for him like he was a rockstar.
Then the king waddled out. No cheers. Not even a clap.
Zura held back a snort.
The announcer raised his voice.
"Let the Magic Knights Entrance Exam… BEGIN!"
Zura cracked his neck and rolled his shoulders.
He was there to fuck everyone, especially the pretty ladies of the Black clover universe.
