Chapter 4 - Lightsaber II

These first few chapters will follow canon to a high degree, with changes I make in Vader's progress in the Force. Naturally, it will change later on.

(Vader POV)

I lie on a block of stone in pain. My old friend. All that work, just to end up at the foot of the damn mountain again. A short distance from me lies the battle droid, which I threw off the mountaintop. Fortune favours those who fall from mountaintops.

{You are 'KZZK' defeated} the droid utters.

I force my left stump to move and use the Force to look at my left hand, which has stopped sending feedback. One of the visors is broken, and seeing my mechanical hand is also nearly destroyed. At the very least, it's no longer functional. My back... my back is broken. I can feel several of my vertebrae being splintered and blood flowing into the tissue. Another one to the long list. Not that it matters now. I can't move my right arm, and my helmet creaks with each movement. I try to remember what we were told about the technique, Force Healing. I have already mastered the 'revitalisation' part to some extent, but healing in this way is different.

Although it was believed that 'malevolent' Force-users could not employ Force healing, this is a wrong assumption. The dark side can, in fact, be used to heal, but conjured from the dark side, such power often comes at a terrible price. Additionally, some who primarily relied on the dark side were willing to use the light to heal, at least on occasion, from what I remember, at least. A limit to some lasting dark side healing was the need to steal vitality from others. Often, these powers were known as Force Drain or Death Field.

What else?

Initial levels require meditation, but greater aptitude usually grants faster regeneration, without the need for meditation. Greater levels of attainment were also able to mend far more severe injuries, even major damage to flesh and bone and even going as far as to mend internal damage, such as damage to the heart, lungs, and so forth; even to the point of sustaining functions of lost organs and on rare occasions resurrecting dead tissue or even persons.

...

{The Dark Side 'KSSK' cannot stand against the 'BXXZZZ' Light.} the droid says

As I hear him speak, it gives me an idea. I use the Force to levitate the droid up and move it towards me.

{The Jedi will scour you 'XXXXX' and all your kind from the-} the droid goes on about that, but my next action stops him.

I exert my full control, which I am currently capable of, causing the entire body of the droid to break apart into hundreds of thousands of individual pieces that all begin to float towards me. I forget everything else and focus on not letting even the smallest technological piece go to waste. One after the other, I use the Force to use the mechanical parts and replace the broken ones inside my armour and the rest of my body to fix myself. One piece at a time until I can multitask this, my mechanical limbs start to be mended and regain some of their original functionality.

Adequate.

Wait, this gives me another idea. If I stay here and try to master Force Healing to the level needed for me to walk again, the Jedi will have left. I will not be denied my lightsaber. If I can't do this the slow way, I shall do it the fast way, reprecussions be damned. I close my eyes and enter a meditation, and at the same time, the hyperconcentration. I feel the living Force around me, in the ground, the earth, the plants... And then, I reach out to it, using the Force and pull it in. It resists, unwilling to be drained by me, but I don't care. I pull harder and harder, until I feel it flowing into my charred and broken corpse.

I force my will on this energy and move it to my back, where the biggest injuries are located. Slowly, I feel my vertebrae mend themselves as well as the nerves, blood vessels and muscles. I feel the strain on my mind and soul stronger than ever. There is a lot of potential in this...

Fear.

*WHOOOOSH*

NOOOOO!

All of the energy leaves my body again, making my wounds open up again and placing me back on square one. Good emotions... that's the problem. It gave me a brief moment of relief, disrupting my anger and hate. This resulting fear caused me to lose concentration.

I do it again. I reach out to the living Force and pull it into my body, mending my bones, fixing my blood vessels and healing my muscles. I can feel that this time, I'm keeping my focus and not allowing my fear or anything else to disrupt my concentration. What is this? How is this possible?

...

I was ready for another failure, but this...? I... did it. This shouldn't be possible. How does this work? Could it be? Could I not be limited to the Dark Side only? No! I won't allow my hate to grow weaker... However, I don't feel like it did. What is happening?

I ignore this for now and get back to work, there is not much body left to heal, but still some.

(3rd Person POV)

"And once again ... I am in the world. May the Force be with me," Kirak has returned to Am'balaar City, which was built around a large dam.

"May the Force be with me."

[Picture]

The Jedi has returned to the city to retrieve his old ship, which he left in someone's hands. So he walks into a mechanic's shop.

"Greetings. I require my ship," he says as he enters the shop.

"Master Infl'a! I ... hmm, how long has it been?" the woman asks.

"Years, Mareena. All of which you were paid for, in advance, to store my ship. And now, I need it again. Please don't tell me you did something with it.", the Jedi says.

"No, it's still here. But, uhh ... It might need a little bit of a tune-up," she says.

"How long?"

"Not too long. I can get to work on it right away. Why, you in some kind of rush?" Mareena asks.

"As you know, I am a Jedi. Through the Force, I see far. I sense many things. Not long ago, I felt a great surge of pain and fear as most of my kind were exterminated across the galaxy," Kirak says.

"Yeah, we, uh, heard about that. That's why we weren't sure if you would ever come back. They said all the Jedi were traitors, but ..."

"I never believed it!" the child says.

"Traitors ... Much has happened during my time under the Barash Vow, it seems. I could do nothing to prevent these murderers, but I vanquished their executioner, a Sith. Skilled in the Dark Side of the Force. He came here to kill me as well, but the only death he found was his own. Now I seek his Master, so I can destroy him and return Light to the galaxy," Kirak explains.

"Okay, like I said, I'll get right on restoring your ship. But that ... Sith, I think you said, he's not coming after you, is he? He's not coming here?" Mareena asks, her voice filled with some fear.

"No. That poor deluded creature ... is dead."

...

.

Vader concentrates on the task at hand. He has always been good with technology and its related things. He has an instinctual understanding of how to repair himself, and that is what he is doing right now. He has been using Force Heal, which Force Drain stimulated, while working on his suit. He can tell that his multitasking skills are growing. The steps appeared small to him, but now that he thinks about them, they aren't small.

He never paid much attention to this. He can still hear his former Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, telling him about his flaw. He told him that he was too focused on winning, which led him to have a one-dimensional approach to things. The longer he is Darth Vader, the more he understands what his impulsiveness has brought him.

Anakin Skywalker is dead.

He needs to be calmer and more collected. The suit's terrible design will help him and even force him to change this particular flaw, and he takes this opportunity seriously. He will become the embodiment of the slowly approaching dark end.

Finally, after an hour of working and healing, he is finished. The only piece that remains to be fixed is his left leg. He has taken apart the droid and combined what was left of his leg with new and functional pieces of the droid's leg, and now he only has to attach it. He controls the thousands of nerves sending back signals to his brain that translate to only one thing: PAIN. He connects the nerves and the corresponding cables in the mechanical leg simultaneously, and then ...

*KRCK*

"NYAAARGH!"

... pushes the leg into his thigh to connect the two, resulting in a lot of pain. A shout leaves his mask. He is used to a small amount of pain, but this was still different, and so he was affected by this. Every second he is conscious, every walking and waking moment is agony for him, and the only reason he can walk is due to the Force. So this puny amount of pain means nothing. That is, unless he finds a way to use Force Healing again, and maybe... No! That's not important now, he thinks to himself. He has lost a lot of time.

He reaches out and grabs the training sabre. Now he is ready and begins to make his way toward where he senses the Jedi is at right now. He is certain that there is a better way to track individuals than just trying to feel them, but he doesn't know of one at the moment. He will need to acquire more knowledge and locate some Holocrons to achieve that.

With uncoordinated steps, Vader makes his way to the city.

.

Meanwhile, Infil'a demonstrates to the children of the mechanics what the Force is and levitates heavy objects in the air.

"How do you do that? Those things are heavy. Even my father can't lift them alone."

"The force makes all things light, my young friend. Once I have completed my mission, perhaps I will return here and share with you what I have learned of its mysteries. After all, the Jedi order must be rebuilt. Mount Pasvaal is here; it seems as good a place as any." Infil'a says and then suddenly stops.

"Well, that's it, Master Infl'a. Your ship's ready for you to take."

"Thank you. Now, I will return to the galaxy and deal with this Dark Lord myself."

Kirak gets into his Delta-7B Aethersprite-class light interceptor and fires it up for the first time in years. As the mechanic said, it's good that she did some work on it. He looks at the mother-daughter pair and waves goodbye. The light interceptor rises into the air and then shoots out, flying upward and moving toward space.

.

Vader arrives at Am'balaar City and feels that the Jedi has left already. His anger peaks, and Vader involuntarily exerts his Force power and taps fully into the Dark Side. This causes waves of palpable hatred to radiate from him and affect the surrounding air. He moves down to where he has just felt the Jedi and arrives at the mechanic's shop. The woman and her children look at him in fear.

"He will return..."

"Wh-who a-are y-you~" the woman asks.

"Death."

.

Kirak rises higher and higher, heading for the hyperspace lane, which will take him out of the system and on his way to Coruscant. But before he can jump to hyperspace, he feels something. Something terrible and dark. Stronger darkness and hatred than before. More than he has ever felt.

"NO. It's not possible," he says, immediately turning his light interceptor around. He shoots back towards Am'balaar City, where the large darkness is coming from, and feels that the family is in danger.

"It can't be... It's impossible. But how?"

When he finally arrives back, he sees it: the dark silhouette on top of the dam, holding the family in the air, above the edge for him to see. And then, Kirak feels the moment when Vader drops them and they fall down.

"NOOO!"

*Kckk puhh*

"You," Vader says, "Come."

Kirak doesn't hear it, but he can just tell and feel Vader's meaning. The Sith has challenged the Jedi, as it has happened for 27 millennia since the Force Wars.

.

Vader's anger reached new heights. He was absolutely livid right now. The fact that he had lost against a Jedi so soon after failing to defeat his former Master, Kenobi, fueled his rage and hate a lot. He was more than disappointed in himself, and that was manifesting itself in the real world right now. Force Hatred.

The waves of palpable hatred and anger affected his surroundings. The water held behind the dam is becoming increasingly turbulent, and the aura around Vader grows heavy and almost red in colour. He spreads fear, and the air turns cold.

"I'm going to end this," Kirak says.

He jumps out of the interceptor and uses a powerful overhead strike to attack Vader. The Sith Lord defends but has to take a step back as the nimble and powerful Jedi moves around him.

"You should have fled when you had the chance," Kirak says.

*Kckk puhh*

"Never."

.

*PEW PEW*

A few blaster shots impact the dam around the two fighters, and a trio of security guards appear behind them.

"Those were warning shots. Both of you ... cease immediately! This is a critical city infrastructure! If you do not comply, we will be forced to- *KKT*"

They are interrupted by Vader using Force Choke on all three of them. He makes them hover over the long drop from the dam as they choke. He looks at Infl'a daringly. He is annoyed at their interruption. Seeing the same scene about to repeat itself, the Jedi shouts.

"NO!", Infl'a screams and looks back at Vader, "Don't!"

In another universe. In the original Star Wars canon, he would have simply dropped the three security guards ... but this was no longer canon. This was a much more dangerous Darth Vader. He cares not for his own disadvantage, he cares not about doing the smartest thing now, he will grow either way. Vader clenches his fist.

*Crack Crack Crack*

All three necks break, and only then does he let them fall. Jedi Master Infl'a is horrified about that.

"NO!" he screams and telekinetically catches the trio. Vader then addresses the Jedi in a cold voice.

"They are dead. Drop them," he says. That is hard for the Jedi, as it shows his failure to protect them, and now that he has to let them go, it stings even more. But Vader doesn't give him any time to think and attacks him.

"You are a monster," Kirak says, unwillingly dropping the three men and defending himself.

"Yes," Vader says, "I am."

.

Darth Vader attacks Kirak with the training sabre. There is a new intensity and power behind his moves. Something that the Jedi is not really ready for ... but things are a bit special. The Jedi is experiencing something he hasn't in a very long time. The last time he felt that was before he became a Jedi Knight ... anger.

Now, fueled by that anger, he attacks the Dark Lord. Vader can feel his anger; if he were a normal human being, he might find that amusing. But he is Darth Vader—he never laughs. The air around the two begins to grow more chaotic, and the winds pick up speed.

The water splashes around them and moves against the dam harder and harder. Vader's use of the Dark Side technique Force Hatred only fuels this storm as he grows more powerful, together with Kirak. Similar to how Luke experienced a boost in strength during his fight against Vader, so does Kirak.

.

Vader continues to block all of Kirak's attacks, and the longer they fight, the easier it gets for him. He can see what will happen and from where Kirak will attack. The Jedi's lack of control has made him predictable, and Vader picks up his plans through precognition and sheer skill. He can see his pattern and, using his growing power and the constant use of Force Speed and telekinesis, overpower the Jedi Master.

In a very quick series of strikes and slashes, Vader manages to close the distance between the two and uses Force reinforcement in his left arm. Then he punches the Jedi in the stomach, causing the man to lose his breath and momentarily lose his concentration.

He takes advantage of that and brings his training sabre to the front. He quickly strikes Kirak in his arm, which holds the lightsaber and then stabs the training sabre into his stomach using telekinesis.

"KKCHAAA!" Kirak shouts and holds his stomach. But his suffering is not over yet. Vader approaches the man and pulls his lightsaber into his hand. The water around them has started to crash against the dam multiple times, and the crashes cause strong vibrations to be felt all over the city.

Vader's rage is not over. He uses the Force and takes hold of the water inside the dam. He uses all his strength and pushes the volumes against the dam harder than before, causing the water to burst through the powerful material.

*BOOOM*

"What ... what are you doing?" Kirak asks in pain. He suddenly realises what Vader has planned, and he gets anxious as a hole is punched in the dam.

"You c-can't do this! I ... I won't let you do this!" Kirak says and uses the Force to pull back the water that is seeping through the, for now, rather small hole in the dam. He is lucky that he has been practising controlling water for years, so this still works fine.

"This is about the Jedi and the Sith! These people have nothing to do with our fight! It isn't about them!" Kirak says as he slowly bleeds and uses all his training strength to hold back the water.

"You are a fool. Of course, it's about them." Vader says, adding even more to the Jedi's suffering. He uses Force Choke and makes the Jedi hover over the city.

"NNGH! N-no. p-p-please ... kill me ... but let them ... live ...", Kirak manages to say, not letting go of the water and choosing to hold it back instead of saving himself.

The aura around Vader reaches its peak, and the small hole in the dam grows larger. The rest of the stone breaks and becomes ginormous, causing monstrous amounts of water to spill out.

"No," Kirak says, and then ... his neck is broken.

*KRCK!*

Vader lets the Jedi fall and uses Force Jump to jump away from the dam that is now completely breaking down and getting destroyed, flooding the entire city and killing thousands.
