Chapter 10 - Chapter 009

Chapter 10: Uncle Lai is quite brave

Thud!

Li Hang fell to the ground.

Seeing this, Li Yu quickly rushed forward, raising his knife and bringing it down. The zombie's head was chopped off with one strike.

He helped Li Hang up, then searched the zombie's police uniform again, and sure enough!

A handgun, but with five magazines - this one was probably a small leader.

On the way out of the supermarket, Li Hang complained: "How come this zombie was so strong, and so fast too?"

Li Yu patiently explained to him: "I guess the zombie's speed and strength are probably proportional to what they were when alive. Look how big and tall that one was, it must have been really fierce."

He also imparted some zombie-killing techniques from 5 years in the apocalypse:

"Also, once bitten by these zombies, you'll turn in just a few minutes. It's certain death, so you must be very careful!"

"For zombies of different sizes, if you observe, their walking speed is actually the same as normal people, but they will run when stimulated. Try not to stimulate them if possible."

"Zombies mainly rely on smell and sound, they have no vision, so you can take advantage of that."

"When stabbing a zombie, go through the eyeball. That spot is the softest and most vulnerable, so your knife won't get stuck easily."

As Li Hang listened, he asked: "Big brother, how do you know so much about this?"

Li Yu didn't answer. The two quickly arrived at the car.

His aunt and little Lue, who had been anxiously waiting, finally saw Li Yu and Li Hang approaching. They were so excited they nearly cried in the car.

As soon as Li Yu left the supermarket, he saw several zombies had gathered around the car again.

Li Yu's eyes narrowed as he quickened his pace and charged over.

Li Hang, following behind, also hurried to help.

After quickly dispatching the zombies, Li Yu told Li Hang to get in the car quickly, because in the distance, at the end of the street, he could faintly see a group of zombies approaching.

The two swiftly fled the scene.

On the way back, his aunt finally couldn't hold back and asked: "Xiao Yu, what were those things outside the car just now? Is this related to why your uncle said he had to go out on police duty yesterday?"

Li Yu looked at his worried aunt and comforted her: "Don't worry, Aunt. You know Uncle, and besides, he's leading a team. With so many people, he should be fine."

Though he said this, Li Yu wasn't certain either. After all, these were zombies.

Mindless zombies that don't know to fear guns!

The real worry was being caught off guard.

So he had his aunt call his uncle, but like Li Yu earlier, there was no signal at all.

His aunt in the back seat was so anxious she was about to cry, but Li Yu didn't have the energy to console her at the moment.

Li Yu had to focus on driving, as he occasionally saw some zombies aimlessly wandering the streets.

Speeding along the way

Half an hour later, Li Yu had driven to the three small buildings by the highway where they had stayed before.

From one of the three-story buildings next door came a scream. A man rushed to the second-floor window and saw Li Yu driving by.

Suddenly, as if seeing a savior, he shouted: "Help me! Save me!" This middle-aged man never imagined his two sons would turn into something like demons, pouncing at him relentlessly as if wanting to devour him.

Fortunately, he ran fast and hid in the bathroom, but the constant banging on the bathroom door from outside terrified him.

When Li Yu saw this balding middle-aged man, he felt a sense of satisfaction. This man was a notorious MLM salesman in the village who had spent years doing MLM in other provinces, and had even scammed Li Yu's family out of tens of thousands of yuan.

Luckily, they eventually got the money back.

But this balding middle-aged man was despised by everyone in the village, annoying to all who met him.

He was as hated as a rat crossing the street.

Save you?

Dream on!

Li Yu shifted gears and drove even faster.

Li Hang, following closely behind, also saw this scene and broke into a grin.

Serves him right!

They soon reached the newly built small road, hidden among the trees and difficult to spot at first glance.

After two turns, a bright light could be seen flashing at the main gate in the distance.

Li Yu tensed up - someone was already trying to get into his base so soon?

The car roared as Li Yu instantly drove up to the gate, kicking up a cloud of dust.

As the dust settled, the scene that came into view was Lai Dongsheng's family - his two daughters and wife standing by the gate.

Lai Dongsheng held a wood-chopping axe in his hand, covered in blood. The two young girls beside him trembled in the car's headlights.

Seeing it was Li Yu's car, Lai Dongsheng excitedly ran up: "They've gone mad, mad! Everyone in the village has gone crazy."

"Xiao Yu, the villagers have all gone insane. It started with Ergou from the supermarket, don't know what happened but he started biting anyone he saw. Even when his parents tried to stop him, they got bitten too. Then they all started biting people, biting anyone they saw."

"Remembering what you told me before, to come to your place if anything happened, I saw how dangerous the village had become and decided to check here. Now there are these biting monsters all over the village. What's going on?"

Looking at Lai Dongsheng before him, Li Yu suddenly recalled telling him last month that if he saw anything unusual recently, he could come to Li Yu's base.

In Li Yu's mind, if he had to save one person from the village who wasn't family, it would definitely be Lai Dongsheng.

Lai Dongsheng had worked for their family for over ten years. The two families had always been on very good terms, visiting each other during holidays and festivals. Lai Dongsheng also helped Li Yu's father a lot. In Li Yu's heart, this Uncle Lai who had watched him grow up was like family.

Not blood relatives, but as good as family.

He still remembered when he was 8 years old and accidentally slipped into a pond. Luckily Lai Dongsheng happened to be passing by and saved him. Otherwise, Li Yu would have drowned long ago.

Coincidentally, Lai Dongsheng's eldest daughter was the same age as him and they had been classmates since childhood. The two always had a good relationship.

Hearing Lai Dongsheng's questions, Li Yu didn't answer, but instead asked: "Why didn't you knock on the door?"

Lai Dongsheng replied sheepishly: "Those biting monsters would come running whenever they heard me knocking, so I stopped daring to knock later. Look."

Lai Dongsheng pointed at two zombie corpses to the right of the gate.

Damn

Uncle Lai was pretty capable! Most people would have run away at the sight of zombies, but Uncle Lai not only overcame his instinctive fear, he even managed to quickly take down two zombies.

Looking at those two zombie corpses, they had been hacked to pieces, nearly dismembered.

Impressive.

Though it was understandable - after all, Uncle Lai relied on his strength to make a living. His burly physique suggested good combat ability.

Besides, with his two daughters and wife right there, who else would protect them if he wasn't brave?

Li Yu looked at the huge aluminum alloy gate with a slight headache.

He had carelessly rushed out today without telling his family.

Was he going to have to shout at the gate now? Too awkward.

Checking the time, it was already 7 AM, but the sky was still pitch black. Who knew how many hours this night would last.

Although it had been dark for days, thanks to the sun from previous days, the base's solar panels had stored enough power. Plus, for now, there was still quite a power surplus.

Li Yu returned to the car and started honking the horn.

Beep~ Beep~ Beep~

The loud honks pierced through the night.

Rustling footsteps could be heard in the distance

Li Yu honked a few more times,

Beep~ Beep~ Beep~

A few zombies slowly emerged from the nearby woods. Li Yu turned the car around, pointing the headlights in the opposite direction of the gate.

This way, the zombies became even more visible.

At first there were just a few zombies in front, but after sweeping the high beams across, over a dozen zombies were following behind.

!!!

A total of nearly twenty zombies were walking this way

Let me say, thank you, because of you, you've warmed all four seasons~
