Chapter 6 - Chapter Six: The Pull

Kai — The Bond Burns Back

It hit him out of nowhere.

One second, Kai was pacing the floor of his shitty apartment, trying to keep himself calm, focused, breathing—

The next, he was bent over the sink, gasping, his knees nearly giving out as a wave of slick rushed between his thighs.

"What the—f-fuck..."

His hands gripped the edge of the counter, knuckles white. His head dropped, forehead pressed against cold metal, heart thundering. He felt it deep — raw and thick — like someone had reached inside his chest and yanked something loose.

His scent spiked again. Slick rolled down his thighs.

And he knew.

Lucien was touching himself.

Not just jerking off. Thinking about him. Wanting him. Needing to fuck him.

The bond pulsed, alive and hot and shameless.

Kai groaned, teeth grinding, hips twitching involuntarily. He hadn't touched himself again — didn't have to. His body reacted all on its own. His hole clenched, throbbing with the ghost of something that hadn't even happened yet.

"Stop," he hissed to no one. "You're not here. Get out of my fucking head—"

But the bond didn't stop.

It tightened.

He could feel Lucien's pleasure like echoes in his spine — the sharp pull of his orgasm, the low, animal growl of his voice. Kai's name tangled in the haze.

"I'm gonna break you, pretty boy."

The bond shivered, and so did Kai.

He backed away from the mirror like it had struck him.

He had to run. Now.

Later That Night — The Alley Behind Redmoon Market

Kai darted through the shadows, hoodie pulled low, breath fogging in the cold night air. His heat patch burned like hell on his neck, but it wasn't working anymore. He was leaking again. The scent was strong — too strong — and if anyone caught wind of it, he'd be fucked. Literally.

He turned a corner, slammed into a wall—

And froze.

Not a wall.

A man.

Lucien.

Tall, broad, in a black coat soaked with city rain. Hands gloved. Eyes burning like frostfire.

Kai stumbled back, but Lucien grabbed his wrist. Not hard — not yet — but firm. Controlling.

"I told them to bring you in gently," Lucien said, voice low, thick with something primal. "But you made that impossible, didn't you?"

Kai's lips parted. He could barely breathe.

Lucien leaned in, nose brushing his neck. He inhaled deep. Slowly. Growled.

"You smell like you fucking need me."

Kai shoved him, but it was like pushing against stone. "Stay the fuck away from me—!"

Lucien stepped closer. The scent of alpha surrounded him now. Heavy. Sharp. Made for chasing down omegas in heat.

"I felt you." His voice dropped. "When you moaned my name, even though you were alone. You were begging without saying a damn word."

"Shut up," Kai snarled, breath shaky.

Lucien's hand slid down to Kai's hip, just resting there. Nothing more — but the bond howled.

Kai's knees buckled slightly. His scent spiked again. Fuck.

Lucien leaned closer, mouth at Kai's ear.

"I don't take what's not offered," he said. "But if you beg... if you even whimper for it—"

"I won't."

"You will."

Silence.

Then Kai, eyes defiant, said hoarsely, "If you're gonna mark me, Alpha... you better be ready to bleed for it."

Lucien's grin was pure hunger.

"I hope you bite back."

Kai's chest heaved. He was pressed up against cold brick, trapped between the wall and Lucien's heat.

Every part of him screamed to run.

But his body? His scent?

It was already surrendering.

Lucien didn't move to hurt him. He didn't even tighten his grip.

But Kai could feel the warning in every inch of him — the kind of power that didn't need to shout.

"You're coming with me," Lucien said, voice low and calm. "Now."

Kai's lips curled into a sneer. "Or what? You'll drag me back like some animal?"

Lucien's eyes burned. "No. I'll let you walk. But the second you run, I will chase you. And when I catch you—"

He leaned in, mouth brushing Kai's ear. "—you'll be too soaked and desperate to pretend you hate it."

Kai's heart pounded.

He hated the truth in that.

He clenched his fists. "This doesn't mean I belong to you."

Lucien tilted his head. "Not yet."

Then he turned, letting go of Kai's wrist like he trusted him not to bolt.

"Let's go," he said simply.

Kai stared at him for a long second… then followed.

Not because he wanted to.

Not because he gave in.

Because the bond was dragging him closer with every step.

And deep down, part of him wanted to be caught.
