Chapter 2 - Strange Visitors

The shout from the soldier seemed to startle the group. Yet, instead of following their order, the group instead readied themselves to fight.

Eyeing the swords from the old man and the young man next to him, the soldier began to notice a few things were definitely wrong. Though the old and young man were human, the one who raised their clawed hands to fight was not. Though their face resembled a humans, their white fur lining their body under the grey and light blue robes proved they were not. Not to mention the furred ears leaning back ontop of their head.

Behind them was a lizard like man covered head to toe in green scaled flesh. Their scaled claws clutched an injured human girl, making the soldier feel uneasy. Though they wanted to treat this group right away, the situation was to strange from them to believe these people were anything like they thought.

"You have injured, and I have a way to heal them. Before that, I need you all to drop your weapons and surrender!" The soldier shouted at the group once more.

The soldier quickly noticed the obvious disconnection between them and the weary group before them. They didn't speak the same language. This was obvious as the old man was shouting something back, clearly weary and desperate. As the man spoke, the soldier trained their Mana to decipher the soundwaves in the air. Thankfully, the translation didn't take to long.

"-jured and I need to treat her. If you'll just give us some time to recuperate, we can leave immediately." The old man shouted clearly in desperation, gesturing to the heavily wounded woman behind him.

"First, drop your weapons. This will be your first warning since we couldn't understand each other before. I repeat, drop your weapons and stand down!"

"Let me clear the way, Elder Lu. This man has no energy to speak of." The white wolf woman growled as she lowered herself in preparation.

"Ying, don-"

Elder Lu tried to stop the wolf woman, but was interrupted as the soldier shot at the ground between her feet. Not only did the group jump from the explosive sound itself, but the woman jumped away from the group as the rock between her feet suddenly exploded.

Taking it as a threat, the woman tumbled a second before rushing the soldier with her claws reaching for their throat. A sigh left the soldiers helm as they switched the rifle to safe. Just as the woman got in range to Claw them, the soldier shot both of the woman's thighs and sidestepped the assault.

She was sent tumbling into the ground with a pained shout. Finding herself on her stomach, she tried to get up just as the solder stomped on her back to pin her down.

"I will not say it again. Drop your weapons and surrender!" The soldier shouted at the rest of the group with his barrel trained on the young man.

"You bastard!" The woman screamed, attempting to swipe at the man's calf to bring him down.

Much to everyone else's surprise, she screamed on pain as her claws bounced off the soldiers armor, cracking her nails while some came off to drift away. The sight immediately had Elder Lu throw his sword to the ground and order the others to do the same.

"Please, we truly mean you no harm. We simply need a place to recuperate before moving on." Elder Lu begged as he fell to his knees and held his fist in his hand infront of his face.

The rest quickly followed Elder Lu's lead, all begging for a generous mercy while the wolf woman sobbed in pain beneath the soldier. While the group sat silent waiting for the soldiers word, they held up their left hand to draw the swords close to them. Just as the blades flew close enough, the soldier slipped them into the grey mist and held the rifle to their chest.

A sigh left the soldiers helm as they looked over the group. How nice it would've been to greet the first peopled they've met in so long peacefully. Sadly, these circumstances were all to strange to just let them in for a drink and stories. Shaking their head, they flipped the rifle around to drive the butt into the head of the wolf woman, knocking her out.

"You!" The Elder recovered from his shock at seeing their weapons disappear into the mist on seeing his friend knocked out. What surprised him more was watching the soldier send their own weapon away before carefully picking the wolf woman up.

"Come inside and lay the girl on the table." The soldier ordered as they adjusted the woman on their arms.

Without waiting for them, they walked back into the stone house and to the bedroom. There, they laid the woman onto the bed as carefully as they could before kneeling beside them. As the treatment could be painful, it was better to knock this one out.

"Lacerations to the stomach, arms, back and legs. Ignoring the damage I dealt, this woman's wounds are pretty superficial." The soldier muttered as they held their hands over the wolf woman and focused.

Just as the group walked into the house, a green light bloomed gently from the soldiers hands and enveloped the wolf woman. The younger man was about to interject, but was stopped by Elder Lu's hand on his shoulder, who watched in awe of the scene. The groups awe skyrocketed as not only the wounds she recently recieved closed up, but the wounds recieved earlier as well.

"Strange, her insides resemble someone getting hit by a large blunt objects multiple times. She's lucky to have been conscious at all. The hell were they fighting?" The soldier muttered as they took note of the broken and cracked ribs, ruptured kidney and bleeding stomach.

After a few minutes, the soldier sighed and slowly stood back up. After a quick scan with their Mana, they deemed the woman fully recovered before looking at the group standing on the living room.

"You just gonna stand there while that girl bleeds out?" The soldier asked as they walked up to the girl the lizard man was holding in his arms.

"M-my apologies. Quickly, lay her down and give her the Revitalizing Pill." Elder Lu snapped out of his shock and ordered the others.

"You want to give a heavily injured person a fucking pill?" The soldier asked in genuine shock, making the Elder all the more confused.

"Y-yes. For an injury like hers, the pill will-"

"Enough. You lot sit on the couch and wait while I treat the girl." The soldier sighed as they pushed past Elder Lu to kneel beside the table just as the patient was laid down.

Though reluctant, the Elder nodded to the others and had them sit on either side of him on the stone couch. They watched as the soldier held their hands over the injured woman to start the examination.

"This one's a wreck as well. I'm amazed you even got her this far honestly. Clean stabs through the side and shoulder, lacerations running up her arm with poison embedded in them as well. Heavy burns from a slash to her back that ruptured her left lung, stomach and spleen. The hell did you guys fight to make her like this?" The soldier finally asked as they started the treatement.

"We were ambushed by a few Blood Claw Sect Disciples. We didn't expect to see them out here, but it seems they were tracking us since we left Heaven's Dao." Elder Lu explained as he watched in awe once more.

"Heaven's Dao?" The soldier asked as he looked up to Elder Lu.

"Ah, you must not be from around here then. Heaven's Dao is the planet we are from, connected to Evershadow and Bloodrun. Which planet are you from, sir?" Elder Lu asked with a warm smile, trying to dispel the hostile air.

"Earth." The soldier hesitated to answer, but figured with how long they had been traveling, it wouldn't matter.

"Does Earth have many Masters like you, sir?" Elder Lu asked as he watched the wounds slowly close on the woman.

"I'm the only one." The soldier sighed as they dropped their hands.

"Were you the only one to attain enlightenment on your world?"

"No, the planet was destroyed." The soldier said as they stood up and checked on the patient. "She should wake up after a few days. Thankfully the poison wasn't lethal, just used to paralyze the target."
