Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: OmniScript System

After school, I walked straight home, my mind buzzing from the strange glowing text that had appeared earlier. As soon as I got inside, Leo came running up to me with that excited little-kid energy.

"Tyler! Play with me! Let's watch Spider-Man!" he said, tugging at my sleeve.

I smiled but shook my head gently. "Not now, Leo. I've got something important to figure out. You can watch Spider-Man for a bit, okay?"

He pouted, but then nodded and settled on the couch, eyes glued to the TV as Spider-Man swung through the city.

With the house quiet, I retreated to my room, the door clicking softly behind me.

Now it was time to figure out what this OmniScript System really was. What could it do? Was it just a weird hallucination, or something way bigger?

I sat at my desk and glanced back at the air above it, where the glowing text still hovered—only visible to me. It flickered faintly, waiting.

Okay, Tyler. Time to test the limits.

I took a deep breath, steadying myself, then spoke aloud, "Show me the system menu."

Almost instantly, a shimmering panel materialized right before my eyes. It wasn't on any screen or device—just hovering in mid-air like some kind of advanced hologram. The display looked like a futuristic console, filled with tabs, colorful icons, and rows of numbers and stats that I didn't fully understand yet. The light from it cast a soft glow across my desk.

"Whoa…" I muttered, blinking as I stared at the surreal sight.

One tab caught my attention: it read 'Abilities.' Right next to it was another labeled 'Inventory.' There was even a section called 'Quests,' like something straight out of the video games and novels I'd been obsessed with.

I hesitated a moment, then reached out and tapped the air. To my surprise, the system responded perfectly, shifting menus and opening subcategories as if I was touching a real screen.

So it's real.

I spent the next hour just exploring, poking at every icon and button. The system's interface was intuitive but mysterious, revealing stats like Authority Level: 100%, which apparently meant I had full control—no limits, no restrictions. The possibilities were staggering. I could create things, change things, even rewrite parts of reality itself.

But the biggest question that kept echoing in my mind was: Why me?

Why would a middle school kid like me suddenly be handed this insane power? What was I supposed to do with it?

Suddenly, a soft knock came at my door.

"Tyler? Are you okay? You're not mad that I watched Spider-Man, are you?" Leo's small voice asked.

I smiled and opened the door, letting him peek inside.

"Nah, little bro. Just figuring out some stuff. You're my best teammate, remember?" I ruffled his hair gently.

His face lit up with a big, trusting smile.

Maybe this power wasn't just a gift or a curse.

Maybe it was a chance.

A chance to protect Leo. A chance to protect my family.

Or... maybe, just maybe, there was a bigger enemy out there—some enormous threat so dangerous that I was given this power to face it.

And if that's true, then I had better be ready.

Days passed since that crazy system appeared. Now it was Saturday — my so-called rest day, but honestly, rest was impossible with a reality-warping system hanging over my head.

Then my flip phone buzzed on my desk. Caller ID: Harry Frees.

I grabbed the phone and hit the green button.

Harry said,"Tyler! You wanna hang out with Lily today?"

I leaned back in my chair, tapping the phone against my chin. I said,"Sorry, man, I'm kinda busy."

Harry asked,"Busy doing what? Studying? Come on, it's Saturday."

I smirked, thinking about how lame that sounded. I said,"Nah, dude. Got some… important stuff to figure out."

Like, how not to blow up my house with this crazy OmniScript thing.

Harry laughed,"Important stuff? What, practicing your super villain monologue?"

I replied,"Hey, you never know. Maybe I'll save the world or destroy it by accident. Either way, gotta get ready."

I glanced over at Leo watching Spider-Man on TV, completely oblivious.

I thought,"(Yeah, forget hanging out with Lily and Harry. I've got godlike powers to figure out.)"

Harry said,"Alright, man. Just don't blow up your room before we hang out."

I laughed, "No promises."

I hit the red button and set my phone down.

Time to experiment with this crazy system… But, wait, not here. If I start messing with reality in my room, Grandma Helen might freak out.

I thought,I need somewhere secluded. Luckily, I already found a spot a while back — that abandoned park behind the old library. No one goes there except maybe the occasional stray cat.

But first… I gotta come up with an excuse for Grandma and Leo. Can't just say, 'Hey, I'm off to mess with godlike powers, brb.'

I racked my brain for something believable.

Maybe I could say I'm going to the library to study. Or check out some books for school. Yeah, that sounds solid.

I muttered aloud, "Alright, Grandma, I'm gonna head out for a bit — gotta hit the library for a project. Be back before dinner."

Grandma Helen called from the kitchen, "Okay, just don't be late."

Leo peeked into my room, eyes wide.

I smiled and said, "Hey little man, I'll bring you something cool from the library, okay?"

He nodded, grinning.

I grabbed my jacket, took one last look at the glowing OmniScript menu floating faintly in the air.

I thought,Time to see what this power can really do

..

As I arrived at the old park behind the library. The place was quiet, overgrown with weeds and tall grass, perfect for some secret experimenting.

"Hey, OmniScript, can you detect if there are any humans here?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

A soft, digital voice echoed in my mind.

"Yes, Host."

"Cool, so… is there a human here?"

"None detected. Only you, Host."

"Perfect. Alright, time to start messing around."

I waved my hand, and the system menu flickered to life, glowing faintly in front of me like some futuristic hologram.

I looked at the system, remembering the little things I had already made in the past few days. (I created a pencil, an eraser, and even some money—but man, every time I used that money power, I got super fatigued.) That's why I had been training my system recently, doing meditation and following some guides the system gave me.

(Now I'm level 10. Not bad.)

The system was weird though. There were no quests like in those RPG games I used to read about. (Maybe it's because the big enemy I'm supposed to face isn't here yet.)

With a system this OP, I'm guessing my future enemy is going to be ridiculously OP too… (That's why I need to train hard.)

I stared at the creation tab. I had unlocked lots of abilities already—shapeshifting, changing voices, and a bunch more. But for now, I needed to focus on creation.

(What should I make?)

I rubbed my chin, thinking. (Now that I'm level 10, I can probably create something bigger… something cool.)

"Should I start with something simple… like a slime?" I muttered aloud. "Yeah, a slime."

As I focused on the "Create" tab in the system menu, letting my mind roam free. The last few days, I stuck to small things—pencils, erasers, money—but those little creations drained me fast. Now, level 10? It was time to step it up a notch.

"Alright, OmniScript," I said, "Show me how to create a slime."

The digital voice responded immediately.

"Loading template: Slime Creature. Estimated energy consumption: moderate."

(A slime? Really? I mean, it's basic, but slimes are iconic in fantasy stories. Plus, if I screw it up, it won't be too disastrous.)

I raised my hand, fingers trembling slightly with excitement. The system projected a translucent, jelly-like blob floating in the air. It shimmered with a faint blue light, almost cute, like a gooey pet.

"Hey there, little guy," I whispered.

The slime wobbled and bounced slightly. I could actually feel a slight tug on my arms as if it were tethered to my energy, drawing power from me to stay "alive."

(So this is how it feels to create life from nothing.)

The system displayed stats next to the slime—Health, Defense, Regeneration Rate, and a few other unfamiliar terms. I skimmed through them quickly.

"Can you move?" I asked the slime.

It wobbled forward, slow but definitely alive.

"Nice. Okay, follow my commands."

I focused, mentally commanding it to jump. The slime popped up, wobbling in mid-air before landing softly on the grass.

"Sweet!" I grinned, feeling a rush of pride.

(If I can make slimes, what's stopping me from making bigger, stronger creatures?)

But, I'm still trying to figure out... why me?

(Why did this system choose a kid like me? A normal middle schooler with no special talents?)

I rubbed my temples, the weight of the question pressing down like a heavy stone. The system glowing in front of me wasn't just some cool app—it gave me Authority Level 100%. Full control. The power to create, change, and rewrite reality itself.

(God-tier stuff. Am I supposed to be some kind of god now?)

The slime wobbled happily beside me, harmless and goofy-looking.

"Hey, buddy," I said softly, "Well there's a bigger bad guy out there Like, some ultimate boss waiting to destroy the earth.. I just knew it..."

It blinked slowly, almost like it was listening. Of course, it wasn't. But it was nice to have something alive nearby. Something I made.

Then, testing the limits, I called out loud:

"OmniScript, boost slime's defense by 50%. No energy limit."

Almost instantly, the stats updated, and the slime visibly changed. It grew a bit larger, its gelatinous body becoming denser, thicker, and more solid, like it had absorbed some kind of super shield.

But then, my vision blurred for a moment. A wave of exhaustion rolled through me like a punch to the gut.

(Okay, f*ck. This is draining as hell.)

My limbs felt heavy, like I'd been running a marathon. The energy bar on the system flickered red and dipped fast.

I staggered back, blinking rapidly to clear the haze. The slime stayed steady, looking tougher but totally dependent on my own stamina.

I swallowed hard and sat down on a nearby bench, trying to catch my breath.

"Alright, Tyler," I muttered to myself, "This isn't a game. You need to get stronger too. If I'm gonna face whatever's coming, I better train hard."

The lafternoon sun cast on the cracked pavement, and the park was silent except for the occasional rustle of leaves.

I reached out and poked the slime gently. It jiggled happily, oblivious to how I was feeling.

(Guess it's up to me to protect it. And everyone else.)

The power was incredible, but it was also a massive responsibility. And right now, it felt like carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders.

Taking a deep breath, and look straight ahead.

(Time to figure out how to recharge fast. And maybe get stronger so I don't pass out every time I try something new.)
