Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: A New Protector — The Man Who Stood by Her Side

The private jet cut through the clouds like a silent predator, leaving behind the chaos of the past and heading toward a future Amelia had sworn to rewrite.

She sat by the window, her pale fingers gently caressing the small but undeniable curve of her belly.

The city below faded into a blur, but the storm in her heart raged fiercer than ever.

This time… I won't break. This time, no one will stand in my way.

A sudden voice, deep and commanding, broke through her thoughts.

"Miss White," the flight attendant announced softly, "there's a guest waiting for you in the VIP lounge of your destination. He requested to remain discreet but insisted you'd remember him."

Amelia's brows furrowed slightly.

Who…?

Several hours later, the jet touched down on a secluded island estate, far from the prying eyes of the public.

As she descended the jet stairs, the salty ocean breeze brushed against her skin, and for the first time in days, she felt the tension in her shoulders ease…

Until she saw him.

Standing beneath the palm trees like a figure carved from marble, wearing a perfectly tailored suit despite the tropical heat—

Damian Frost.

Her heart skipped a beat before she could stop it.

Damian.

The man who once held her broken heart together when she thought no one else could.

Tall, broad-shouldered, with sharp, aristocratic features and eyes that seemed to see straight through her carefully constructed walls.

Those deep, obsidian eyes now locked onto her growing belly… and darkened.

He took a slow, deliberate step forward, his voice low and dangerous.

"Is it his?"

Amelia swallowed hard, her lips parting, but no words came out.

Damian's jaw clenched, his hands curling into tight fists by his sides.

"He left you, didn't he? And now, he wants to crawl back into your life just because you carry his child?"

Before she could respond, he was already standing before her, his towering frame casting a protective shadow over her trembling form.

"I won't let him hurt you again, Amelia. Not now. Not ever."

Her heart ached, torn between old wounds and new promises.

The fire in Damian's eyes burned hotter than the tropical sun above them, and for the first time in so long… she didn't feel helpless.

She felt… protected.
