Chapter 13 - Chapter 12

Chapter 12

"How's that? Bet it hurts to get beaten up. I've already emptied everything in the house," I said the moment my boyfriend picked up the phone.

"Stinky woman, I'm your boyfriend. Why do you want to hurt me?" he whined.

"To hurt you? Then why did you treat me like a bargaining chip with those thugs last life? Torturing me and exchanging me like an object?" I shot back.

"Don't think you're the only one who's been reborn. Sorry, I'm a reborn too. It's been quite fun enjoying steak in the shelter while watching you get beaten."

I snapped a photo of the juicy steak right in front of me and sent it to him.

Actually, although I was reborn, I had no memories of my boyfriend's past self. I only learned from their conversations that he and Bai Yueguang had used me to barter with those thugs back then.

But judging by how these thugs behaved, even if I hadn't been killed, my fate would have been far worse.

So naturally, my boyfriend didn't suspect a thing about what I said, just sneered.

"Don't try to fool me. I know you're at the supermarket, and that steak's from there too. If you want to lie, come up with a better excuse.

"You've been with me all day. How could you have transformed the shelter and hoarded supplies?"

"Online shopping," I blurted, feigning regret.

He chuckled. "Online shopping? You fell right into the trap. I said all that just to trick you. We use the same account—just by checking your delivery address, I know exactly where your shelter is. Wait 'til I find you—I'll make you pay for this."

With that, he hung up and frantically searched his phone for our shopping records.

When he saw the delivery address…

He laughed darkly, ignoring the blood dripping from his mouth.

"Brother Long, I found her location. Let's go. Don't worry—she's definitely got supplies."

Brother Long and the others followed my boyfriend out, suspicious but eager.

Watching them leave, a faint smile tugged at my lips.

An hour later, I saw them on the surveillance screen again—my boyfriend and Brother Long arriving in a car, chaos trailing behind them.

Zombies drawn by the roar of the engine swarmed around.

They struggled to open the door, stumbling into the yard, only to freeze in disbelief.

The huge yard was utterly empty.

Not a scrap inside.

Brother Long and his men wanted to leave, but suddenly loud music blasted from the entrance.

It was the trap I'd set. Now that they'd fallen for it, I wasn't about to let them walk away.

Zombies have keen hearing—the car engine had attracted many already, and the booming music pulled even more, hundreds of meters away.

The yard quickly became surrounded.

Brother Long's face twisted with despair.

He looked at my boyfriend and Bai Yueguang, drew his machete, and took slow, heavy steps toward them.

"This is all your fault," he snarled.

Then, without hesitation, he killed them both.

Almost immediately, zombies overwhelmed Brother Long and his men, tearing them apart to join the undead horde.

Since my rebirth, my revenge targets weren't just my boyfriend and Bai Yueguang.

In my last life, after my boyfriend kicked me out, I was starving and desperate.

Kind neighbors shared their scant supplies, keeping me alive a little longer.

Later, to protect them, I went out alone to scavenge and was bitten.

But my soul witnessed those kind neighbors—after Brother Long and his gang stripped them of their supplies—brutally slaughtered.

After rebirth, I crafted this plan to erase every one of these evildoers.

At first, I worried about how to contact Brother Long's group without raising suspicion.

But my boyfriend's greed did the work for me—he wanted to use them to break in, unwittingly pushing my plan forward.

As for the supplies in the house?

When my boyfriend went out to pick up Bai Yueguang, I had the neighbors who had helped me quietly remove everything.

I warned them not to be saints and to stay alert against criminals.

After my boyfriend died, I laid low—just eating and sleeping.

Though dangers appeared, I handled them swiftly.

Returning home after the apocalypse, I was surprised to find those neighbors alive and grateful.

They said my supplies had saved them.

I shook my head.

A drop of water should be repaid with a spring—not because I saved them, but because kindness dwells in their hearts.
