Deacons saint John was many things. But one thing he always was, is a survivor.
But shit had really hit the fan after the rippers had burnt boozers arm. So her deacon sat with a choice. He could deliver the drugs to Tucker, or to Copeland.
Deacon sat below the watchtower staring off in the distance as he pondered his choices. Finally deacon grabbed his radio and held it up.
But he hesitated. Should he truly stay with Tucker and continue getting the measly credits that she rewarded or return back to that place.
"Hey Nikki, are you still on this channel?" Deacon finally said.
The radio went silent before there was a noise.
"Deacon. I didn't expect to be hearing from you again," a voice came over the radio.
"Ha ha," deacon said sarcastically.
"So what is it? You're asking for my radio in particular, so it's urgent. Unless you want to radio iron mike," Nikki said over the radio.
Deacon let out a deep breath before removing his cap and pushing his hair back in a nervous way.
"Ah. No, not iron Mike. I need medical help for boozers arm. Rippers torched his hand," deacon began explaining.
"I don't know deacon, I can ask-" Nikki radio.
"Jobs, labor, anything Nikki. I'll work the fields or whatever you need me. Just please, do you have any medicine for boozer," Deacon pleaded.
There was a silence for almost a minute. Deacons heart racing as he heard boozers painful grunt upstairs.
"Fine. Ride into lost lake and head over to the infirmary. I'll meet you there with addy and we can fix up boozers arm. Depending on how far along he is," Nikki said over the radio.
"Thank-you Nikki. I owe you one," deacon said all but running up the stars to the lighthouse.
"Don't thank me just yet, I have jobs lined up that I need done. And you just volunteered yourself," Nikki said before not responding.
Deacon finally made it upstairs to boozer who was overlooking the forest. His hand was bad and getting worse by the day.
"Come on boozer. Pack your things, we are going somewhere," deacon said already throwing the essentials away.
"What but ou-" boozer was about to say before being cut off by deacon.
"Forget it. Ammo, meds. Actually never mind," deacon said before leaving what little supplies they had and grabbing boozer and taking him to the bike.
"Whoa, where are we going," boozer said finally using his height to his advantage, finally dragging deacon out of his state.
"To get you arm healed," deacon said before hoping on his bike and kicking it to life.
...
Deacon was drifting in his biker as they made their way to lost lake. Tucker had tuned into the radio to remind deacon to bring survivors and the drugs to her, but he had already gave them to Copeland.
"I cut a deal with nikki," deacon yelled as he drove.
"What, no way. I thought we weren't returning to lost lake," boozer said before he realized.
"No no no deek. Iron mike is already mad at us, there's no need to escalate things further," boozer tried saying.
Deacon just revved his bike taking off as they made their way to lost lake.
Bikes were perfect for this type of environment. The forest had traffic backed up on the roads, hence why bikes became popular, though deacon had been riding bikes long before the apocalypse.
Trying to use a car would be suicidal anyway because of all the cars on the road. Bikes ran out of gas faster, but provided the best mobility, ans you will have to catch deacon dead before he ever rides a pedal bike over a motorcycle.
And just like that. One decision deacon choose to make, lead to so many outcomes.
Tuckers camp? Deacon helped here and there, mainly with ambush camps and the lot. But anything else was a no.
Copeland the paranoid bustard was still doing radio free organ, spreading his conspiracies, some being true and some being false as always.
Deacon would have met his wife earlier on due to him riding past the mountains after being sent on on a mission for a mission and stumbling into a patrol sooner.
Arturo, the doctor would still be Alive, and no needless death.
A chain of events would accure leading the colonel to die of belive it or not, would have tripped on the top of the mountain and fell to his death.... at least according to witnesses.
Lisa's house would eventually be overran causing her to run away. She eventually made it to a tower that had some supplies and the view to help her out.
Deacon though.
"Whoooo, you can still give it your all there deacon," Nikki said as she laid next to addy on some chairs meant for sun. Sarah meanwhile was with boozer sitting a distance away with binoculars watching deacon.
Deacon just snorted and raised his hoe's before plowing it into the ground. His original job was to help Nikki with the dam and electrical line. But apparently the medicine used for boozers arm was scarce and expensive.
Boozers arm healed nicely though, scars were inevitable though, but boozer would much rather have his arm with scars, than no arm. Though he was going to have to get checked by addy.
"Very funny," was Deacons response.
"Hey, I'll have you know I saved you from fishing duty or marsh duty. I know your scared of water," Nikki said giving him a friendly jab.
"I'm not scared of water... Just getting in," deacon said.
The real reason? Deacon developed ptsd when he was swimming. Although it happened years ago, he swam from his destroyed Humvee to drag his already dead comrades to shore.
"I'll remember that when you get in the water," boozer said, finally coming to join us.
"Ha ha, very funny," deacon said before plowing the earth once more.
...
"This is James O'brian. I'm a Nero research scientist. If you find this recording know this. The virus is mutating and evolving. On **** I record my last message to all the survivors. Goodnight, and good luck,"
