Chapter 27 - Chairman Sakayanagi is a Bit Embarrassed!

27. Chairman Sakayanagi is a Bit Embarrassed!

While Aragaki Shun was immersed in taking stock of his gains over the past few days, in another area of the school, Chairman Sakayanagi's mood was not so wonderful.

"Arisu, are you really not considering resting for a while? This year's new students, compared to the previous cohorts at Advanced Nurturing High, seem a bit too abnormal."

Chairman Sakayanagi looked at his proud daughter with some distress.

Since childhood, because the girl suffered from a congenital heart disease, making her body frail, while ordinary children enjoyed their childhood play with companions, Sakayanagi Arisu mostly had to receive treatment in the hospital.

Due to the physical weakness caused by the heart disease, which indirectly led to inconvenience in her legs and feet, the girl not only couldn't experience various sports like her peers, but even her elementary and junior high school studies had to be completed at home with private tutors.

Chairman Sakayanagi had always felt deep guilt towards his daughter because of this, believing he hadn't fulfilled his responsibilities as a father well, and was always trying to compensate her in every possible way.

Previously, arranging for Sakayanagi Arisu to enroll in Advanced Nurturing High was also because he thought his daughter had never been able to experience "going to school," a right that belonged to every ordinary person, throughout her childhood.

Elementary and junior high school had already passed, and he could hardly change that, but there was still a chance in high school.

Otherwise, even if Arisu's heart disease was cured in the future, allowing her to return to a healthy person's life, the girl might still harbor great regrets in her memory.

Anyway, Advanced Nurturing High School was right under his nose.

With his constant care, there shouldn't be any problems.

Thus, seeing that Arisu's physical condition was recovering well, at least to the point where she could move slowly in daily life, Chairman Sakayanagi arranged for her to enroll in Year 1 Class A.

Heaven have mercy, he admitted he was indeed selfish in this regard, but he let Arisu enter Year 1 Class A simply because he believed that in previous years, Class A students had the best discipline and highest quality, and putting Arisu in Class A would make him feel more at ease.

As for the benefits after graduating from Class A, did he, the dignified chairman of Advanced Nurturing High School, need to arrange these things for his daughter?

Arranging Arisu into Class A, he was merely thinking of letting the girl experience a normal high school school life more easily.

If she could make one or two friends and show more joyful smiles on her face, he would be even more gratified.

This was just a small wish of a father.

Unexpectedly, it was precisely in this year that a few new students with astonishingly high drive appeared in the first year, directly bringing this matter to the attention of the board of directors.

And the identities of those people were clearly laid out.

Even if the board wanted to pretend not to see, it was impossible, making him particularly disheveled these past few days.

In this situation, Advanced Nurturing High School was no longer suitable for Arisu to experience school life.

Those few people didn't even give him, the chairman, face, let alone the chairman's daughter.

So, even though he felt his usually assertive daughter was unlikely to back down directly, he still tried to persuade her to go home and recuperate for a while.

At worst, he could arrange for her to enroll in the next year.

"No, Father."

Then, as expected, Sakayanagi Arisu refused this suggestion, crisply and decisively.

"If I run away like this, I won't be able to hold my head high in front of that man in the future. Even I will look down on myself."

Leaning on her cane, the petite, white-haired girl, exuding an ethereal and fleeting aura, was inexplicably forceful at this moment.

"I am a genius, you've told me that since I was little. Are you going to let me flee before fighting a respectable opponent? This would bring shame to the name of genius!"

"Is that really so? Sigh~"

Chairman Sakayanagi sighed helplessly, but this was an expected situation.

He knew his daughter, so he naturally knew the possibility of her agreeing was one in ten thousand.

The reason he still asked was merely because, in his fatherly affection for his daughter, he still harbored that sliver of luck.

"Then it's up to you from now on. The board of directors is watching closely. Starting tomorrow, I won't have the authority to interfere with this year's new student exams."

Although it wasn't for the benefits after graduating from Class A, judging by actions rather than intentions, regardless of what his thoughts were, the fact that he had used his power for personal gain in this year's new student class assignments would not change.

The chairman was well aware of this point.

Although he was confident that his daughter was definitely more outstanding than others in Class A, Arisu had not attended elementary or junior high school.

All the information the school had about the girl was obtained from him.

Coupled with her obvious physical disability, if she were assigned to a class according to the rules of previous years, it would be fortunate if she wasn't assigned to Class D.

But how could the chairman let his daughter enter that class full of defective products!

How bad the Class D students of previous years were, no one knew better than him, the highest authority in the school.

If Arisu entered Class D, perhaps one day when he wasn't watching closely, she would be given a big surprise by those students.

One must know, Arisu's illness was a heart condition, which was most susceptible to fright.

And Class D was never short of those impulsive, irritable oddballs who acted without considering the consequences.

If something unexpected really happened, what could he do even if he exhausted all means of retaliation afterwards?

Class C was a similar situation.

As for Class B, it was because it was closest to Class A, and the competition was the most intense.

The chairman wanted his daughter to have an easier life at school, so directly assigning her to Class A was the most appropriate.

This was originally just a small matter, but who knew that someone in the first year would take it seriously.

And unfortunately, these few people who took it seriously couldn't be easily ignored.

In the end, he had to make some interest exchanges in the board of directors to finally settle this matter, but in the future, he would also have to recuse himself from the first-year assessments.

"Isn't this better?"

Facing her old father's worried expression, the girl just showed a free and confident smile.

"I had the advantage of the first move at the beginning, and Aragaki-kun countered decisively and sharply, hitting the vital point. It was truly beautiful, directly stripping me of my biggest trump card."

Sakayanagi Arisu lamented her opponent's trickiness.

As the daughter of a politician, a genius chess player who pursued victory unscrupulously, the girl would not be bound by so-called rules and fairness.

A sufficiently brilliant chess player could not only consider the situation on the board; sometimes, factors off the board were the key to locking in victory.

Clearly, Aragaki Shun understood this principle deeply, which was why he so swiftly removed her father from the position of question-setter.

"Thinking about how sharp my opponent will be for these three years, I can't help but feel delighted. Father just needs to help me block his off-the-board tactics, don't deliberately spoil my fun."

"Being able to reasonably utilize the resources at hand is a manifestation of talent. Councilor Aragaki has an excellent successor, truly enviable."

Although he had been made somewhat disheveled by Aragaki Shun these past few days, the chairman still acknowledged Aragaki Shun's strength.

He could use his status for personal gain, and the other party could naturally counter.

It was just a matter of each side using their own means; he wouldn't resent a young person for this.

However, regarding Arisu's request to block the opponent's off-the-board tactics, the chairman felt somewhat embarrassed.

I wonder if that compensation counts...
