Chapter 20 - I Don’t Want To Lose You

The next morning, Eve got ready for work, her mind still reeling from the dream. She felt emotional and vulnerable, unsure of how to process her feelings about Roman. As she brushed her hair, she couldn't shake off the sense of unease.

Just as she was about to leave the room, Roman's spirit appeared before her. Eve's heart skipped a beat as she met his gaze. Roman's green eyes seemed to bore into her soul, filled with a deep longing.

"Desire, please listen to me," Roman said, his voice low and urgent. "I know I didn't tell you everything about me, but it's not because I didn't trust you. It's because I was trying to protect you from the darkness that surrounds my life."

Eve's eyes welled up with tears as she looked at Roman. She felt a mix of emotions: hurt, anger, and sadness. But as she gazed into his eyes, she saw the sincerity there, and her heart softened.

"Why did you keep it a secret?" Eve asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Roman took a step closer to her, his eyes never leaving hers. "I was afraid of losing you," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "I knew that if you found out about my past, you might not want to be around me anymore. And I couldn't bear the thought of losing you."

Eve's heart ached as she listened to Roman's words. She saw the vulnerability in his eyes, the fear of rejection and loss. And she knew that she couldn't stay mad at him.

"Roman, I need you to be honest with me," Eve said, her voice firm but gentle. "I can handle the truth, no matter how difficult it is."

Roman nodded, his eyes filled with gratitude. "I know you can, Desire. And I promise to be honest with you from now on. I don't want any secrets between us."

As they stood there, locked in each other's gaze, Eve felt a deep connection to Roman. She saw the pain and the fear in his eyes, and she knew that she wanted to help him heal.

Roman's eyes seemed to mirror hers, filled with a deep longing and connection. He took another step closer to her, his face inches from hers.

"Desire, I feel so drawn to you," Roman said, his voice low and husky. "I feel like I've known you my whole life. You're the only one who's ever truly seen me, truly understood me."

Eve's heart skipped a beat as she listened to Roman's words. She felt the same way about him, like they'd known each other for years.

As they stood there, the air between them seemed to vibrate with tension. Eve felt like she was drowning in Roman's green eyes, like she was losing herself in their depths.

Roman's eyes seemed to hold a deep sadness, but also a sense of hope."I don't want to lose you, Desire," Roman said, his voice filled with emotion. "I don't want to lose this connection we have."

Eve's heart ached as she looked at Roman. She knew that she felt the same way, that she didn't want to lose this connection either.

As they stood there, frozen in time, Eve felt like she was melting into Roman's eyes. She saw the depth of his emotions, the sincerity of his words. And she knew that she couldn't deny her feelings anymore.

"Roman," Eve whispered, her voice barely audible.

Roman's eyes locked onto hers, filled with a deep longing. "Yes, Desire?"

Eve's heart pounded in her chest as she looked at Roman. She knew that she was taking a risk, that she was opening herself up to hurt. But she couldn't help herself.

"I don't want to lose you either," Eve said, her voice filled with emotion.

As she spoke, Roman's face seemed to light up with hope. He took another step closer to her, his eyes never leaving hers.

"Desire, I promise you," Roman said, his voice low and husky. "I promise you that I'll do everything in my power to make sure you never regret being with me."

Eve's heart skipped a beat as she listened to Roman's words. She felt like she was drowning in his eyes, like she was losing herself in their depths.

As they stood there, locked in each other's gaze, Eve knew that she'd made a decision. She'd take a chance on Roman, no matter the risks.

And as she looked into his eyes, she knew that she'd never be the same again.

The moment hung suspended, filled with promise and possibility. Eve felt like she was on the precipice of something new, something exciting.

And as she gazed into Roman's eyes, she knew that she'd follow him anywhere.

Eve's eyes locked onto Roman's, her voice barely above a whisper. "Tell me everything, Roman. I want to know it all."

Roman's gaze drifted away, his eyes clouding over as he began to speak. "I was the CEO of Sterling Groups, a successful business built by my family. But my aunt, Victoria, and her son, my cousin, Lucas, they...they had other plans."

Eve's grip on her hands tightened as he paused, collecting his thoughts.

"They orchestrated my accident," Roman continued, his voice laced with pain. "They tampered with the brakes on my car, and...and it was meant to be fatal."

Eve's eyes widened in horror. "Oh, Roman."

Roman's gaze returned to hers, his eyes filled with a deep sadness. "My body has been in a coma for three months. Victoria's been paying the doctors to keep me sedated, to keep me from waking up. She's been manipulating everything, using her wealth and influence to control the situation."

Eve's face twisted in outrage. "That's monstrous."

Roman's expression was grim. "Yes, it is. But I've been trapped, unable to move or wake up. My spirit has been the only part of me that's been free."

Eve's heart ached for Roman, for the pain and suffering he'd endured. She gazed at him, trying to offer what comfort she could.

"I'm so sorry, Roman," Eve whispered. "I'm here for you now."
